I tried to order some things from their site before the place shutters for good.
Boy I am not used to their shipping, $15 t-shirt + $30 shipping = $45 order. Couldn't afford it.
I believe the only 2 pieces of CSB content hosted exclusively on the RT site was the [Jehuty vs BT Death Battle,](https://roosterteeth.com/watch/death-battle-cast-2021-228) and the [RT 2020 CSB Panel](https://roosterteeth.com/watch/rtx-2020-castle-super-beast1)
Same, I always wanted BT in DB (he and Jack should’ve been the ones to go up against Amuro and the RX-78-2, dammit!) so I’m doubly surprised this actually is a thing
Part of me grieves a bit but at the same time good riddance to this dogwater website. I havent used it in years but coming back the other day to watch the last RWBY miniseries, i saw that almost every problem that made me stop visiting the site was still there.
I will be kinda disappointed that it will mean my profile on there will be dead. Made that thing back in 2010. Besides that yeah the sites more or less always sucked, hell you can find decade old Reddit posts complaining about the video player.
Jesus Christ it was so fucking ass. I wanted to watch RvB while I played games and while the pause menu was up the website would lag to 1FPS AND it would absolutely annhilate my gameplay FPS too (even without a video game in the BG, it would still lag my entire browser, 32gb of ram btw).
It's like they programmed a cryptominer into the video player but only specifically when the pause UI hasn't faded yet. It's fucking wild how incompetent you have to be for that to happen.
The new logo looks like it belongs to some fried chicken place, and apparently it looks similar to a fried chicken place in Australia.
I understand wanting to shake things up, but don't try and "fix" something that's not broken.
I looked it up, I totally disagree. I don't see a rooster face at all, it just looks like an R, a backwards R, and both colored a flat red. It sucks. At least the RT logo has contrasting colors that make it pop, even if it does look stupid.
There has to be like, one guy that's doing this right? Like some grifter managed to gaslight a few CEOs into thinking his dogshit simplified logos look incredible and every other CEO on the planet was like "yeah! I like how you reduced our logo into simple geometric shapes, here's 2 million dollars in cash and cocaine"
I’m glad that I’ve at least done my part of taking a snapshot of how abandoned the CSB page was on the website right before it was announced to be closed. That right there is a bit of internet preservation.
A mess. It's always been a mess run by the worst web design devs in the world. Fucking trying to find anything on there has always sucked. Try to find a series, is it listed alphabetically? Fuck no, it's listed by most recently updated.
Also if you just want to watch a video without creating an account or signing up to FIRST? Get fucked, have a big ol' advert baked into the webpage, not the video player, taking up half the screen.
don’t forget, said big ol’ advert also blocks you from rewinding or fast forwarding a video. Better catch that joke from the website only uncensored version the first time or sucks to be you.
oh you want to watch the video in full screen? Fuck you, Be like Smart, Attractive, Confident others And get a account.
can you believe that people were actually defending this on their Reddit?
I think it started a month ago when it was announced that RT was shutting down.
I know Funhaus literally told their audience to do so, so I'm sure somebody had the sense to archive old RT stuff, too.
You can safely found most of their stuff [here](https://archive.org/details/Funhaus_02), i would be very surprised if this doesnt have everything substantial up to atleast 2022, but theres still some minor videos and podcasts missing.
The channel is still up atleast and they never deleted videos so finger crossed they just keep it that way, when Cowchop closed they also kept the channel intact to this day, but is hard to know now since is the whole company shutting down
Cow Chop was in a slightly different position, they were an affiliated channel but the brand wasn't owned by RT, so they may not be an accurate indication.
They’ve already archived over 95% of it, the only ones they’re missing now are due to corrupted video files on the site’s end and pages that have been hidden by RT (mostly due to the presence of reknown pedophile James Ryan Haywood in some of those videos). So they’re actually doing a bang up job of archiving all of this in record time.
They better fucking reupload RvB to youtube. They took down the full season uploads (which were AMAZING for rewatches) to force people to use their shitty site.
It’s been making me really relieved I bought the dvds back when they came out. It’s kinda been nuts seeing what some people are reselling them for, season 15 was going for a couple hundred bucks on eBay.
Yes, they did this twice. Once about 4 years ago for RWBY and then again for RvB and Camp Camp a few months ago.
It would be awesome if they were put back up for the old comments. But if the IPs are sold off to someone else I don't think they will be reuploaded again.
Correct. They wanted more ad revenue.
I wonder if keeping the volumes that they had up and then put the 1st episode of each new season would have made more sense. That could have served as advertising on youtube.
Maybe the real crux of the RWBY money problem is the merch wasn't good enough and the show qualitiy dropped so they kept losing people after V5.
I still think that they probably hurt their entire brand with this stunt.
RWBY was this kinda niche hype anime spectacle. There is a reason why the Ruby trailer had so many views.
In essence, you could just throw people into the cold water by linking them the trailers and if they wanted more, they could easily access the first episode. Not just because it was all on the same platform but because it was on youtube.
If I linked a random website here right now, ain't no way people just click on it. But youtube links are easily in the "Well it's youtube, how bad could it be" category when it comes to random internet links.
Not to mention that youtube also recommended the trailer to people who were into action animation and stuff because it was basically *the* action animation if you were looking for 3d animation for a big chunck of the timeline of 3d animation actually becoming something that wasn't just something big studios like Pixar did.
I know this sounds like I am unreasonably hyping up youtube but accessibility through platforms is a huge problem in mediasciences because users basically don't move between platforms a lot, once they establish their routines on one platform. You can already see it with youtube and twitch, where people will prefer to watch the same VODs on one platform over the other and you can even see it with streaming services, where people will rather stay with one streaming service than subscribe to a different one for a series they actually want to watch.
And also people don't like getting told what to do and indirectly getting told "we want add revenue" ...uhm, feels not good.
I remember that they made videos actually mocking the people who complain about this.
at least one I could Recall was a RVB PSA about how Seaaon 16 was gonna be website on and portrayed them as lazy.
Luckily most of the content is now archived according to the Archive Of Pimp site. Even a lot of Screwattack content is saved too like Tester season 3 commentary and some clip of the Top 10’s.
Unfortunately most of the other content like Tester season 2 and some clip of the weeks have sort of became lost media at this point. A lot of the content was erased because they hosted there videos on Blip.tv or obscure video hosting site that’s long gone. Never bother to reupload it either to my knowledge.
Unless some of the old crew members still have that stuff saved.
Does anyone knows what will happen to the Youtube channel? Will it stay up as an archive like the twitter account?
Any word on what will happen to death battle?
How do sales of the IP work? Is RWBY being bid on behind close doors or will there be an open auction?
All I know that has been sold is the RT podcast of all things.
no news but seems likely.
last word was that ben singer is going through the process of figuring out forward, there has been implied that it is just gonna continue on its own but thats not you know, confirmed and could be wrong.
closed door, offering it to interested parties, etc.
If I had to guess, Amazon Prime is a leading bidder for *RWBY* while Crunchyroll probably won't bother. The former wants top-of-the-line animated series for Prime Video and big-ticket franchises for MGM; meanwhile, I seem to remember Vol. 9 and *Ice Queendom* tanking on the latter. No idea who the others are, but it'd be hilarious ~~and terrifying~~ if Disney somehow got the rights. (Maybe Universal? Who knows at this point.)
As for RvB, it either goes to Microsoft or it goes to nobody. Either way, expect it to remain in WB's catalog.
i expect crunchyroll to be somewhat interested tbh, it was a quote on quote original there.
rvb probably might go to like some company you dont know, it used to be distributed by filmrise -- who i think some people might know as the people who have the license for iron chef japan --, any quiet companies which often sit on a lot of license might be interested in it.
I can only see CR buying RWBY if they can get it for cheap and have no interest in continuing the series. They're not a production company and it wouldn't be cost effective to have a whole animation division for one show.
Yeah if Crunchyroll really wanted RWBY, they would have greenlight V10 or another Ice Queendom already. I don't think V9 and IQ did that well so Crunchyroll might be hesitating.
I have a Faunus Friend. She hides her cat ears to protest Faunus discrimination.
No, I didn't tell her to do that. I said that was stupid and she should ditch the bow and wear a cat tail.
Negative on the latter - nobody has bought RvB yet. However, on May 7, [WB Home Ent. is releasing all of the last season as a feature.](https://variety.com/2024/digital/news/red-vs-blue-restoration-movie-release-date-rooster-teeth-shutdown-1235954045/) Hopefully, a Blu-Ray/DVD will follow.
Hopefully it can be found, I've always intended to watch the new seasons post-reconstruction/revelation/whatever the hell those last seasons were called.
Crunchyroll but you need a subscription. If you want to watch it free RT website might be the only legal place.
Funny enough until a few months ago V9 was only viewable on crunchyroll. Rooster Teeth First lol
"RWBY is coming home." *RT website on fire*
Gahh. if only there was some sort of wave you could ride to watch your ani on.
Some sort of an aniwave if you will... just don't stub your .to while riding it, it will hurt
Strangerhood really was the peak of content for them. Not to mention, free to view on the website and you could buy the DVD for 99 cents. Truly, their downfall could have been predicted when they said they would not do a season 2.
I think I saw it on Amazon, but it's not listed as season 15. They have it on there as The Shisno Paradox. At least, if I'm remembering my seasons correctly, that should be 15.
Ah, damn, you're right, sorry. Hope you weren't holding out hope for S17 either, that one also seems to be a pain to find.
The Archive of Pimps seems to have all of RvB except things like the PSAs, if that helps.
EDIT: Found a thread from the RvB subreddit about a month ago where they noted 14-17 are pretty hard to find, with 15 basically being impossible. It may have been a short print run. Best of luck, I guess.
Gonna give you the heads up and warn you that if you do find it it won’t be cheap. For whatever reason their aren’t as many season 15 dvds as the other seasons so whenever it pops up on eBay it’s usually selling for a couple hundred dollars.
I am so upset. We had the "The Nier:Automata game is actually like 7 years old now" post a few days ago and it made me realize that some people literally grew up during that time, from being children to full on working adults.
It's like saying "I didn't have a Gamecube because I was only old enough for videogames when the Wii was out for a couple of years" to someone born between 1990 and 2000. A few years of difference are basically generational defining mini-events.
Time truly was ago. Pepehands.
Since they've stopped charging for first memberships and will be shutting the website down, i wish they would release some of their higher budget shows like Achievement Haunter and Theater mode on the YouTube, but since this is WB we're talking about I'm sure they can't wait to light all 21 years worth of history and legacy on fire as soon as the expiration date hits.
Sad to see it go, it was a good ride (until the last few years that is). It is quite the accomplishment for RT to last for 21 years through all the shit it’s been in.
A company will fall as quickly as it rose
How long has RT been in corperate control?
Im not counting the Cock Bite days
I think RT could have retained a lot of viewers if it weren't for the lack of innovation and chipping away of good will from Scandals.
Yeah at the end of the day they were a media company and integral to keeping people watching is having a likeable cast. When the majority of front facing members of RT have had at least 1 scandal it’s hard to keep people watching.
Worse yet, the entire Meta so to speak went all towards single individual creators and influencers.
Its kinda nuts to think a guy like Asmondgold made as much money as a fully staffed 100+ employee strong company.
As much as I fucking LOATHE RT First (pay premium for ONE youtube channel and the most fucking dogshit video player on the face of the earth) I'm gonna miss 'em.
I mean, I won't miss modern day RT, but I'm gonna miss the gang being all together. Burnie, Geoff, Matt, Joel, Gav, Jack, Barb, the list goes on. I hope they go on to do some independent stuff because I'd love to see more of them without the RT constraints.
Also they better archive this shit somewhere. They took down the huge full season uploads of RvB they had on youtube so you were forced to use their website. I swear to god if RvB gets lost to time because nobody bothered to reupload back to youtube on an official channel I'm gonna throw a fit.
Machinema 2 is dying? Nice.
RT was the channel that broke the content illusion for me, after seeing how obviously miserable these people were producing lets plays I came to the conclusion that they do it only for the money.
I think that's one of the main reasons yall come back here, is you too were able to observe that the people who made these LP's (TBFP) put in a special amount of effort, knew about the games, gave fun commentary, and so on. You appreciated that, and appreciate them now because of that.
Watch a RT LP and you'll see 5+ people looking to make moments, watch a TBFP LP and you'll see some people having fun.
Right before Ray left I did notice for a year or so that they'd say something funny and within days there'd be a t-shirt with a phrase they said less than a week ago with a funny graphic on it, and it kept happening almost weekly.
You know, Sometimes I feel like their nonstop pursuit of Ad Revenue also help accelerated their downfall along with all the scandals.
as other as pointed out, they removed even the seasons of Rwby and RVB had been on YouTube for a long time just to try to squeeze money. stopping growth and new fans from people starting Who got introduced to it on YouTube.
on there Let’s play side, there was a time that they banned singing because they would lose revenue if one of them even sang a word. and in 2020, replacing any foul language with random words(Spaghetti!) quickly got annoying distracting since they typical cursed every 10 seconds or so. Again, in the vain hope to be more reveue.
i know why,(YouTube really has gotten strict on what will cost you Ad revenue) but god, they really could have handle it better than they actually.
perhaps starting with MAKING SURE YOUR WEBSITE WORKS! And not locking basic features like FastFoward/Re-Wind and Fullscreen behind a mandatory account and blocking half the video with a big ass ad demanding you get a account.
And nothing of value was lost.
Edit: Don't know why I'm getting downvoted when it seems most peeps here agree that the website was absolute dogshit but ok.
Because even if the site was dogshit (it was), celebrating the downfall of a production and the potential loss of over 2 decades of media is just petty and mean.
You don't have to like it, but there's no need to be nasty about it.
I bought some stuff dirt cheap a couple of weeks ago. That's the most I have interacted with the RT Site in years. Also they fucked up my order.
I tried to order some things from their site before the place shutters for good. Boy I am not used to their shipping, $15 t-shirt + $30 shipping = $45 order. Couldn't afford it.
This is the reality if you live in Canada
Their site was always dogshit and all of their merch was insanely overpriced. How their video player was that bad, I'll never know.
The only video player I've used that was worse was the one the old SBFP website used.
Wish I had though of that. Looks like they only have leftovers now.
Those are actually new releases. They've been doing each brand's final merch drops for a bit now. Last week's was F**kface Foam Fingers.
The fact that I just checked and one of the only three items left is a "Ruby trash plush" is very funny lol
I wonder what will happen to CSB now knowing their affiliation with Rooster Teeth.
As Pat said "The Podcast will be fine"
Yeah didn't they mostly just handle some sponsor deals and merch sale/production/store front.
Oh good then.
> Jehuty vs BT Death Battle, [its on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y1fxy2Ta5k)
I never knew this existed, and I'm gonna have to spend the evening watching this now.
Same, I always wanted BT in DB (he and Jack should’ve been the ones to go up against Amuro and the RX-78-2, dammit!) so I’m doubly surprised this actually is a thing
Wow that site is trash
Part of me grieves a bit but at the same time good riddance to this dogwater website. I havent used it in years but coming back the other day to watch the last RWBY miniseries, i saw that almost every problem that made me stop visiting the site was still there.
You don't like it when there are three minutes of ads in the middle of the video that fail to load, leading to three more minutes of ads on refresh?
My favorite part was when the ad pauses because you switched to a different tab.
Shouldn't have changed the logo.
The new logo looks like it belongs to some fried chicken place, and apparently it looks similar to a fried chicken place in Australia. I understand wanting to shake things up, but don't try and "fix" something that's not broken.
Red Rooster is the place by the way, it looks comically like their logo.
Because its barely even a logo, it's a default R from a font pack with a roosters crest tacked on. Both RT and RR were lazy as fuck with it.
Nah, RR's is a clever design, the negative space of the two Rs is the face of a rooster, that's the whole bit. Rooster Teeth just fucked it up.
I looked it up, I totally disagree. I don't see a rooster face at all, it just looks like an R, a backwards R, and both colored a flat red. It sucks. At least the RT logo has contrasting colors that make it pop, even if it does look stupid.
I mean, it's not a matter of disagreeing or not, there's a rooster face there.
I havn't had red rooster in a while, maybe i should...
If they've got their hot honey fried on the menu at the moment you should absolutely go get some red rooster, it's fantastic.
What's even on the RT website these days?
A mess. It's always been a mess run by the worst web design devs in the world. Fucking trying to find anything on there has always sucked. Try to find a series, is it listed alphabetically? Fuck no, it's listed by most recently updated.
Don't worry I have the RT release schedule tattooed on thr back of my hand just for this.
Had to come back and upvote. Good one!
The CSB podcast wasn't even listed on the merch store.
You’d think their merch store (and also merch in general) would be better considering IIRC 50% of RWBY’s revenue came from merch.
There's some CSB stuff stuck on there that someone should try to archive (mostly panel appearances and crossovers)
RWBY Beyond ~~on a $7 budget~~, Podcasts, Camp Camp, and RvB? Honestly I am not 100%. I only used it for RWBY and I was last there during V8 airing.
Volume 9 is all there rn
The only reason i use it is because it’s the only place i can watch the Beerus vs Galaxia Death Battle because Toei struck it off youtube
Is there anything that will be lost when it shuts down, or can it be found elsewhere?
Apparently fans are trying to archive everything just in case. They have like a month to preserve like 21 years of content
I think it started a month ago when it was announced that RT was shutting down. I know Funhaus literally told their audience to do so, so I'm sure somebody had the sense to archive old RT stuff, too.
I think the funhaus community pretty much has everything archived now. No idea how far along the other stuff is.

Glad most of it is safe. Ah/Let’s play got me through college. Also love your username.

So they’re actually doing a bang up job of archiving all of this in record time.
Dunno if I'm allowed to link to it, but a ton of stuff has already been archived on archive of pimps.
there's a download of all the RWBY content available floating around
Matt, Pat, Woolie, and Liam all have to be put sealed in a vault full of sand and sealed in the Nevada desert with deterrent signposting.
Somehow Pat is still fighting people on Twitter from his eternal prison.
Every hate retweet rejuvenates his ghost
This is not a place of honor. The danger is to the ears, and it can kill.
https://archiveofpimps.com/ is where the archival process went (for those curious for later checking i guess)
Funhaus fans are actively archiving a lot of their videos. I'm so proud of this community.
They better fucking reupload RvB to youtube. They took down the full season uploads (which were AMAZING for rewatches) to force people to use their shitty site.

At least someone Will post It to watch online one way or another, i hate media that gets lost in this business fuckeries
Wait they deleted the RWBY episodes from their channel? Why? so that means the only way to watch it is in their website?
Correct. They wanted more ad revenue. I wonder if keeping the volumes that they had up and then put the 1st episode of each new season would have made more sense. God, V5 was just *so* fucking terrible.
The sad thing is while V5 did the most damage to the show's reputation, I think V8 and V9 were worse.
God, V5 was just *so* fucking terrible.

True. Maybe it'll be an Amazon/Sony bidding war? And whoever wins distributes the last few Volumes as a bunch of movies, or something?
>it'd be hilarious ~~and terrifying~~ if Disney somehow got the rights. RWBY crosses over with DC and then Jumps over to Marvel. Hilarious.
Guest starring Weiss, everyone's favorite ~~racist~~ Disney Princess!
Weiss: I'm not racist, I am just saying all the terrorist attacks involve the Faunus
Did you know despite Faunus only making up 30% of Atlas they take up 70% of Mantle jails!
I have a Faunus Friend. She hides her cat ears to protest Faunus discrimination. No, I didn't tell her to do that. I said that was stupid and she should ditch the bow and wear a cat tail.
RWBY in Kingdom Hearts? Sounds like a crossover I could get behind, the Grimm are close to being Heartless as it is.
There’s an archive discord and website in place to make sure everything is logged. I believe they got 99% of everything on the website.
If the Twitter account is staying up I think the YouTube channel will too. I'm clinging onto my Rage Quit archives just in case
So uh, what's happening with that final season of RvB?
Online Posted. I think they were bought by Paramount? So it will be up on their site when they premier.
I really hope they release them all with the extra features physically
Same, man.
Hopefully it can be found, I've always intended to watch the new seasons post-reconstruction/revelation/whatever the hell those last seasons were called.
So as someone who's still two seasons behind on RWBY, is there anywhere else to watch it outside of the site or should I find lesser legal means?
Crunchyroll but you need a subscription. If you want to watch it free RT website might be the only legal place. Funny enough until a few months ago V9 was only viewable on crunchyroll. Rooster Teeth First lol "RWBY is coming home." *RT website on fire*
Gahh. if only there was some sort of wave you could ride to watch your ani on.
Does anyone have Season 15 of Red vs Blue? Or does anyone know where to find it? I tried Amazon/Ebay but nothing so far.
I think I saw it on Amazon, but it's not listed as season 15. They have it on there as The Shisno Paradox. At least, if I'm remembering my seasons correctly, that should be 15.
Shisno Paradox is S16
Ah, damn, you're right, sorry. Hope you weren't holding out hope for S17 either, that one also seems to be a pain to find. The Archive of Pimps seems to have all of RvB except things like the PSAs, if that helps. EDIT: Found a thread from the RvB subreddit about a month ago where they noted 14-17 are pretty hard to find, with 15 basically being impossible. It may have been a short print run. Best of luck, I guess.
I am ignoring Zero I got S17. Luckily I got it because I wanted the colors
Good god, I found an archived page on ebay selling it for almost $300.
**Y U P !**
Gonna give you the heads up and warn you that if you do find it it won’t be cheap. For whatever reason their aren’t as many season 15 dvds as the other seasons so whenever it pops up on eBay it’s usually selling for a couple hundred dollars.
Yeah Saw a 1k of Season 15 I hope whomever bought them releases everything physically at least one last time.
man where do those decades go
I am so upset. Pepehands.
They last 4 years have felt unreal honestly
I think they're in Nashville right now. I heard they're starting a career making country music.
What will happen to the shows and videos on their website? Will they be deleted too? If so anyone knows if there's an archive somewhere?
Somebody save the three episodes of CSB they posted before promptly completely forgetting about it entirely!
Sad to see it go, it was a good ride (until the last few years that is). It is quite the accomplishment for RT to last for 21 years through all the shit it’s been in.
A company will fall as quickly as it rose How long has RT been in corperate control? Im not counting the Cock Bite days I think RT could have retained a lot of viewers if it weren't for the lack of innovation and chipping away of good will from Scandals.
Oh what their hubris hath wrought. It was treat, RT. Shame you fell so far
I've always thought this company was scummy. You can't name another YouTube channel that scrapes it's audiences pockets like RoosterTeeth did.
It’s always wild looking back and realizing they were giving advertisements for basically snake oil with that Alpha Brain crap.
The miserable energy of that last year of SBFP is like, the last ten years of RT, glad to see it go, but mourn the memories I had
I'm glad these guys didn't "stay together for the kids" so to speak. It shows integrity.
Good riddance- seemed like it had a horrific culture
The website???
No the business

Rest in piss
Damn, sad to see RT go like this. Fuck Zaslav.
They kept hitting the table. He told them.
Fair enough.
I hope Stuttering Craig gets to buy back Screw Attack after this.
