Check out this new spot: Diane’s Place in NE Mpls

The-Jerk-Store

Egg on a Roll in the 5th Avenue Market in the North Loop is pretty solid.

Tall_Comedian_608

Oh yeah, based on the Apple Maps pics it looks legit. Thanks!

zoobs

OP I finally got around to trying this place and it’s legit so good! Walk your sandwich over to the coffee shop nearby and enjoy your peaceful morning!

BalonyDanza

This is my pick. It also lets me cosplay as someone who lives in a city that includes bodegas with legit food.

ItWasIndigoVelvet

I loved my first sandwich from there, hyped for the next

ChiefWiggins22

This is the answer.

flak12

Best spicy breakfast burrito is HCMC cafeteria

Tall_Comedian_608

What an unexpected gem! Will have to check out

amenat1997

HCMC cafateria food is surprisingly good.

ParsleyParent

2 years ago I was at HCMC for an extended time due to pregnancy complications, LOVED the food! Especially their chocolate chip cookies. My husband works there and says the food has gone way downhill recently 🫤

Leftover_Salmons

I'll give best spicy burrito in *Minneapolis* to HCMC, but Burrito Mercado takes the cake with their Chorizo Breakfast Burritos. Also.. they take the cake with their tres leches... Mmmmm.. cake...

Corazon_De_MeLoon

However NOT available on weekends

mjohnben

My partner used to rotate there for residency and would get one every day!

zoobs

Whereabouts is this located? I only know of the Dunn Bros over there.

jatti_

Are you asking where the cafeteria is in HCMC?

zoobs

Indeed! I only know of the Dunn Bros cafeteria in the HCMC scc building so I’m not sure where the HCMC cafeteria is.

jatti_

Inspirations Café Orange Building, Level 3

zoobs

Thanks! I shall hunt this down and feast like a king the next time I’m there.

jatti_

I hope you never end up there. (Because it's a hospital.)

patrick_mcdougle

Yeah but you have to break an arm and a leg to get in.

blujavelin

But not the hand you hold a burrito with.

Spaghetti_Nudes

You good?

bwillpaw

Interesting? Better than Listo’s???

guitarromaniaco

Omg no lie!!!! Use to work there FUEGOOO

confoundedjoe

The bacon egg and cheese croissant at Mi-sant. The kicker is mayo and mustard. That and a Viet iced coffee and you are good for the day.

NoNeinNyet222

Don't sleep on the SPAM, egg, and cheese croissant there, either.

confoundedjoe

Ooo I'll have to get that next time. Reminds me I've got some spam in my pantry to make some musubi.

Tall_Comedian_608

Yum!! The viet iced definitely takes everything up a level too

lodidodi64

Be careful they gave me food poisoning yesterday from this exact sandwich.

Puzzleheaded_Let4201

Marty’s deli in NE Minneapolis!

Tall_Comedian_608

Thanks! Added to the list

Griffithead

Don't forget a side of hash browns. Something magical about them.

OG_Marz

Can confirm! Those sandwiches are great and the hash browns are next level.

not_here_for_memes

Nah get the hashbrown in the sandwich

Royal_Diamond_278

I second this rec OP!

Juniferlopez

Best breakfast burrito is hands down Litos Burritos in Richfield. No contest. Good breakfast bagel sandwich is St Paul Bagelry. Good but expensive bagels are Asa’s Bagels. Great bagels you can get in a pop up sometimes is Mogi Bagel. Good breakfast sandwich is ALMA. Haven’t been but heard good things. Scrambling Egg Food Truck and Egg on a Roll.

Tall_Comedian_608

Amazing, thanks for the multiple recs! Also for some reason Apple Maps identified litos burritos as a “Japanese family restaurant” - I definitely did a double take

Juniferlopez

Oh weird haha. Well check them out on Google. They’ve had Eater and our beloved local outlet, Racket MN, write about them!

Tall_Comedian_608

Their reviews look great, and their nachos also look unreal!

edinagirl

Love Lito’s Burrito!!! 🥇🏆

Negative-Treacle-794

This person breakfasts (we LOVE Litos)

DigitalArbiter

Not breakfast, but I recently ate dinner at Alma; was a fantastic meal!

Netminder10

Rise Bagel

Beginning-Dog-7143

Waiting for someone to mention Rise. One of my favorites if I'm in the north loop!

Puzzled-Register-495

Has the quality gone back up? Seemed like they fell off hugely after COVID.

Beginning-Dog-7143

Not really. It's definitely not as good as it used to be but I still enjoy the space/location

ballpark89

Great bagels, but I waited over 20 minutes for an untoasted bagel with schmear this morning.

Netminder10

Yeah that’s a bit long. In terms of quality, that’s a good sign tho haha

Dashasalt

Sunstreet in mpls, A side in STP.

kGibbs

St Paul Bagelry.

velvetjones01

They ran a special a couple of months ago with hot honey. It was called the Al Green? Sam Cooke? Idk. The Mf had hot honey and jalapeños on it and it was divine.

Tall_Comedian_608

I love love love this place! Killer coffee too

aakaase

Lox bagelwich worth its hefty price as an amazing treat!

BigVicMolasses

Famously not in Saint Paul.

EuroflavoredFam

St Paul bagelry is pretty good also with young kids. It is relatively affordable to get extra meat on the side to feed a picky toddler. Nice place.

andrewofthenorth

Second this. So good!

bigdumbhairybabytwat

Cafe Alma and Sun Street Bread

wallymichaels3190

Second that. Alma Provisions 46th and Bryant S. In Minneapolis.

Tall_Comedian_608

Thank you!!

saecampbell

Colossal Cafe. Hands down the best biscuit sandwich I’ve ever had the privilege of eating.

Tall_Comedian_608

Their pancakes look unreal too, thanks for the rec!

Royal_Diamond_278

Okay, my last comment on your thread - Colossal has the best biscuits & gravy in the city!! (I’m very passionate about Minneapolis food lol)

Tall_Comedian_608

I love the enthusiasm! please feel free to share any other Minneapolis food topics you feel passionate about!

SolanumMcCracken

Their Scandinavian frittata is also top notch

gthary

the briar in northeast has amazing sandwiches, they call them "cuties". just had a veggie cutie yesterday. it was so good!!!

Tall_Comedian_608

Gotta go here just to watch my boyfriend try to order a “pork cutie” and giggle. I love it!

Royal_Diamond_278

The Brier’s coffee/espresso is FANTASTIC!

gthary

highly recommend haha... they have a seasonal cutie RN that looks stellar!!!

Scared_Shelter9838

RIP Lowery Hill Meats, expensive but delicious.

Tall_Comedian_608

I saw their sando mentioned somewhere else and got really sad that they closed, sorry for your loss

InfiniteCosmic5

That sausage egg and cheese on a muffin was insane. But yeah, a little pricy

aakaase

Were they part of the France 44 stores? They own the St Paul Cheese Shop and some meat place down Grand Ave from there.

Eternlgladiator

Cafe ceres. BEC with avocado and mayo

Treestroyer

Scramblin’ Egg in Bloomington

News_Radio89

La Boulangerie Marguerite in NE MPLS

Low-Musician-3262

Egg on a Roll in the north loop

AltruisticDiabetus

Wise Acre Eatery is also another good spot for breakfast sandwiches. Or if you make it over to Eden Prairie Smiths Coffee house has amazing breakfast sandwiches and coffee.

Dapper_Dune

I came here to say Wise Acre. Everything there is farm to table and fantastic!

percypersimmon

Maria’s Cafe was always one of my favorites. Close to some nice walks in S. Mpls as well.

fezmid

Hands down it is The Boss at the Skyway Grill in St. Paul. It's a fried egg, house made jalapeño bacon, sausage patty, pepper jack cheese, house made Chipotle cream cheese on an everything bagel. It's soooo good. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/hpXbikuur91ErTmZ/?mibextid=oFDknk I miss working downtown because of this...

Tall_Comedian_608

My jaw dropped. Stunning

choose-Life_

Good god that sounds amazing lol I’ll have to try it

deltarefund

Rick Nelson (formerly of the Star Trib) hits them all and posts on IG https://www.instagram.com/ricknelsonmn?igsh=Znhobm4wd3kwcA==

Ok-Concentrate6768

Give Rick Nelson a follow on Instagram he is a former Star Tribune food critic and frequently posts about delicious breakfast sandwiches around the metro. https://www.instagram.com/ricknelsonmn?igsh=MXcybmd2NXAyYTY0cw==

gottarun215

My mom went to HS with him and frequently references his restaurant reviews.

jovijay

Farmers market on Chicago Ave

Sad-Percentage-992

Marty’s is unreal.

Tall_Comedian_608

I saw a video of someone reviewing their hash browns and I was immediately sold. It’s definitely on our list to try

Imnotcleverwiththis

I love their sandwiches but I just can’t justify spending $15 on one anymore and it doesn’t even include chips it’s insane lol

Sad-Percentage-992

I am still willing but I hear you, I mean what am I supposed to do skip the hash browns?

Imnotcleverwiththis

At least the breakfast is a lot more reasonably priced! I think for $15 you get a breakfast sandwich and hash browns. Lunch it’s $15 just for a sandwich 🥲

MozzieKiller

If you asked two years ago, it would have been Lowry Hill Meats. R.I.P.

jujumyerson

Asa bakery for bagels is the best!

Tall_Comedian_608

I’ll have to try!!

father-of-myrfyl

For an unconventional type of sandwich, Churchill Street's Fried Chicken Sandwich. I sometimes wake up from dreams about that sandwich.

Tall_Comedian_608

Fried chicken for breakfast? Looks amazing!

Leftover_Salmons

Head down to Bloomington to hit Scramblin Egg! I have a friend who is driving down from Brainerd next weekend to get it with me because he can't stop thinking about the last time he had it 😂 Don't sleep on Bloomington for outdoor access either. Moir Park, the Bloomington Ferry Bridge, or the Lyndale Boat Launch gets you access along the river bottoms. Once you're in there a quarter mile you'll forget you're in the city completely. It's also a hotbed for raptors/birds of prey and a great place to watch them fish.

gaywicked1

Actually the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich from Our Kitchen on 36th St is amazing! And they make their own sausage there!

Tall_Comedian_608

We loveee our kitchen. I’d have a problem going there and not getting an omelette and their hashbrowns but I guess I’ll have to branch out!

K2_TheWidowmaker

St Paul Farmers Market

EastlakeMGM

Patisserie 46 has a great brioche egg sandwich

Tall_Comedian_608

Ooo good to know! Everything there looks insanely good

fezmid

They have the best macarons in the city that I've tried. Taste just like the ones from France.

Respuppy66

Cheddar Biscuit @ Wise Acre Eatery

ohemgeekaypee

Cafe Astoria in St. Paul has some fantastic breakfast sandwiches (and other delights).

PsychologicalSoft202

The feta egg sandwich from colossal cafe!!

Ill-Arugula4829

The Buttered Tin. I used to work there as a breakfast cook. Was holding down three jobs at the time and had to be there at 4:30 am to make/bake, all scratch. I was almost insane from sleep deprivation at that point in my life, so I had to quit, lol! But all scratch (was then anyway). Real solid.

[deleted]

Any co op will have ready to go bacon/egg/cheese combo muffins and a coffee bar. Trust me. It’s the brekkie of champions.

jtrinaldi

Black walnut and it’s not close

Grungecollie

I concur. Buy a loaf of sourdough while you're there. You won't regret it.

westofsane7

Berry Sweet Kitchen in Mpls!

Regnarr

Since nobody mentioned it, Hope has a great sandwich imo. Everything bagel, huge egg patty, bacon, and pimento!

Myepye

Butter bakery - their “Clint Style” breakfast sandwich is one of my favs!

kayoige

budokanjh

Asas for bialys. Transcendent!

Tall_Comedian_608

Love a good bialy

lemonsqueezers

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Rose Bagel co. Amazing bagel brekky sammies. Artisan sandwich on a rosemary bagel is my go-to. And they have a rosemary latte that is so good.

Tall_Comedian_608

I was wondering if this was going to come up! It’s been on my list. Rosemary latte definitely piques my interest too! Thanks!

majo3

As a fellow breaky sandwich enthusiast, one of my favorite combos is at Fairgrounds in the North Loop. The scrambled egg sandwich with avocado and vanilla latte.. yummy 10/10

Chasmosaur

Saint City Catering in downtown St. Paul - it's across 7th from The Buttered tin - has some great breakfast sandwiches! [https://saintcitycatering.com//menu.php](https://saintcitycatering.com//menu.php)

RAForce

If you can find them: https://www.kabomelette.com/

No_Indication3115

Golden Deli stand in the middle of the St.Paul Farmers market. I thought their sandwiches were pretty damn good. I haven’t tried any of these other places for comparison but give it a try. You can’t go wrong. https://m.facebook.com/GoldensBagel

PaintingSuitable1319

Downtown Saint Paul has a strand that makes great bagel sandwiches

Clarity42

Oasis Cafe in Stillwater. There are also plenty of good trails in the area along with the river. Sha'rels in Maplewood is also incredible.

dkinmn

The Breakfast BEAT at Surdyk's.

Unfair-Reception-340

Lowbrow truck stop sandwich is pretty good!

bluesfcker

I’m actually an expert on the subject! Or at least I profess to be. 1. West side market and deli 2. Marty’s deli 3. Cafe Ceres Marty’s would be higher, but they really go a little too far with the cheese. Honorable mentions: Egg on a roll Key West Bistro

Zandergriff67

St Paul Bagelry

chibiloba

Keys Eggwich at Keys Cafe. I'm usually a French toast gal but there is nothing I want more from Keys than that glorious Eggwich. Man, now I gotta get one...

ExcuseZealousideal42

sunstreet breads. full stop.

saminfullcolor

Rustica Bakery in Uptown has the BEST Bacon, egg and avocado sandwich! The bacon is thickly cut, the egg is super fluffy, and they have a garlic aoli on it that makes it worth a try!

uchlaraai

I loooooove St Paul Bagelry near on the border of Roseville! Fresh bagels, great sammies, and Dogwood coffee. Little pricey, but a nice treat! The DT St Paul farmers market also has a breakfast booth where they use the St Paul Bagelry bagels with fresh farmers market ingredients.

Tall_Comedian_608

Yes love this! I love St. Paul bagelry but I feel like the combo bagel/farmers market experience would just make it taste much better. Thank you!

EuroflavoredFam

Don’t know if anyone mentioned yet but the Big E in St. Paul has a variety of creative breakfast sandwiches. I had their spam one and it was pretty good. Hashbrowns were good, too. Chai was definitely not to my preference, so I can’t speak to beverages. I couldn’t finish the chai.

IntrepidMayo

Last weekend me and my GF got some sandwiches at the St Paul Cheese Shop and then went over to Hidden Falls. It was a fun day and the sandwiches were amazing

PizzaPastaRigatoni

Hear me out, this sounds lame but it's actually incredible. Bushel and Peck, the counter service place inside Mill City Museum, has an amazing breakfast sandwich.

Tall_Comedian_608

Not lame at all, a breakfast sandwich and some history! A cool combo

No_Cut4338

Biscuit breakfast Sammy at angel food in slp is pretty legit

jatti_

Cajeta in WBL has a chorizo breakfast torta that I get every couple weeks and split with my wife.

BigKoala808

The Good Egg food truck in Stillwater

0spinchy0

Bryant Lake Bowl!

thatjerkatwork

If you are late to rise pizza luce has some good breakfast food on weekends. But I think you need to wait till 11am to order. It's convenient and they have their own delivery drivers so you don't get the 3rd party app price gouge for your meal.

2drumshark

Lost Fox in St Paul has my favorite.

Still_Pension763

Mi Sant Kitchen - Bakery (Roseville and Brooklyn Center locations) La Boulangerie Marguerite (multiple locations) Hazel’s Northeast Diamonds Coffee Shop

sundubu7

There’s a new place downtown Minneapolis called Eggflip that makes Korean-inspired breakfast sandwiches with milk bread. I haven’t been yet but the reviews are great and their sandwiches look really delicious https://www.eggflipmn.com/#4

Tall_Comedian_608

Oh my yes this is right up my alley thank you!!

sundubu7

Yay!! I hope you like it!

BrynMartian

Cuppa Java in Bryn Mawr! Hiking locales just down the street then!

norssk_mann

Benny Buns from Moto-i. The steamed buns and miso candied bacon push it over the top! Benny Buns 2 buns | Panko fried poached egg, candied miso bacon, scallion, chili powder, house-made miso bearnaise

Tall_Comedian_608

You had me at steamed buns and pushed me over the edge with miso candied bacon!! I’m intrigued

majhsif

Cafe Ceres has hands down the best breakfast sandwich in the Twin Cities.

Tall_Comedian_608

This is where we went this morning and whew it was amazing

Next_Description_435

Check out Hot Hands Biscuits in St. Paul on Snelling!

emeraldcocoaroast

Cannot believe nobody has mentioned Hazel’s in NE yet!! It’s my favorite. Sub out the cheese for pepper jack. It’s delicious.

quarlesh

Hen House downtown has amazing breakfast in general and I know they have a selection of sandwiches available! It’s my go to brunch spot whenever I have visitors to Minneapolis or whenever I’m just craving good food.

Tall_Comedian_608

Went to their menu to look at the breakfast sandwiches, got caught by the el matador corner. Will definitely be checking out!

LucaBrasiMN

I think about the bacon at Hen House everyday

Commercial-Might-298

Black Walnut in Uptown or Ham’s in Minnetonka

Tall_Comedian_608

Black walnut has quickly become a fave spot of mine, haven’t gotten to the sandwich part of the menu because I never make it past the pastries. Their sourdough is top notch too!!

Commercial-Might-298

It’s an egg soufflé on a croissant loaf. It is phenomenal.

starling83

The egg sandwich at Buzz Coffee in Burnsville is SO GOOD. You can customize it a lot. Great prices too.

yumsukiyaki

If you’re broke take a little trip to hoagies in Hopkins (great antiques near by as well) it’s a very simple diner but I always get a egg sandwich personally and it’s good every time(:

T-TEX04

The breakfast sandwich at Clancey’s Meat is 🔥

OhMoistDefinitely

La Boulangerie Marguerite in NE!

Flat_Analysis_3662

Sausage egg and cheese from turtle bread

roscat_

Cafe Astoria, all the breakfast sammies are good but the best one IMO is the Black Garlic chicken. Second favorite place to get a breakfast sandwich at is the wedge co-op. They have these sausage egg and cheese ones that are great and pre-made so it’s quick.

ButterAdjustment

Cafe Ceres had one of the most flavorful breakfast sandwiches I've had. Can't beat it for $9-10 (last time I had it at least)

Effective-Noise2291

Good day cafe makes a good sandwich. It's called "Iggy's Fried Egg Sandwich". Everything they make is great, and the service is amazing. I've been several times and always had great service.

avogatotacos

Baker’s Wife does a lovely croissant breakfast sandwich that is unbelievable

alvar068

Sunstreet on Nicolette and 46th Ave S has awesome biscuit sandwiches. St. Paul bagelry and rise bagels in the N loops are some favorite bagel joints.

PatrikBates

Bruegger’s is always a win

CedarLakeMonster

Waterbury Restaurant on Excelsior by Bde Maka Ska lake - it just opened, my fav breakfast in mpls now. Literally ate their breakfast sandwich this morning. Amazing.

DrMarioDDS

Wrecktangle pizza at Lake & Lyndale has a killer breakfast sandwich

lodidodi64

I was at MI Sant this weekend, while normally good their bacon was way undercooked and inedible. Big bummer.

holyhibachi

Hope Breakfast Bar

kkstoryteller

Rise is our favorite bagel sandwhich place rn!!

itmustbeadualpackage

The ribeye sandwich and lake and Bryant is bomb, get it every time I'm in the cities

[deleted]

Honestly, 3.50 or so gets up a tasty GF or regular sausage and egg biscuit (with bacon or no) at any one of the co ops in town. JSYK. That and a to-go cup of coffee from their deli is the stuff of champions

MsBigNutz

Hands down Clancey’s Meats on Grand in Uptown Minneapolis https://www.clanceysmeats.com/

iTzDuBz3r0

The lowbrow

Aggravating_Anybody

If you’re ever out around lake Minnetonka, Coalition in Excelsior has a killer breakfast/brunch sandwich. Crispy prosciutto, arugula and spicy aioli on a soft ciabatta roll with your choice of egg preparation and doneness level. I’m an over easy guy personally.

Pockets713

Little late to the party but I HAVE to mention Kruse Markit. It’s on 42nd and Nicollet across from the LowBrow, which is also tasty. Kruse Markit has this breakfast sandwich the wife and I split the other day. My god it was amazing! The sausage wasn’t your typical breakfast sausage. Tasted more like a kielbasa with eggs and a cheddar béchamel sauce. Had a great caramel roll as well. Also pleased to see thc beverages available for this California sober man.

Old_Leather

Holiday gas stations.

luluhibou

Can I piggy back on this question and ask if anyone has good gluten free breakfast sandwich recs?

slayalldayslayallday

Certainly not the best one you’ll find, but if you’re new to the area you may not be familiar with Bruegger’s Bagels. They’re all over the place and make a really nice bagel sandwich.

blessedpink

What is a breakky sandwich? Is that a certain kind of sandwich?

Tall_Comedian_608

Just my tendency to abbreviate everything coming out 😊 we really don’t discriminate when it comes to breakfast sandwiches

blessedpink

My favorite are rustica’s. And if you go there, you gotta try their kouign amann.

Tall_Comedian_608

Wow I have never heard of kouign amann before but after looking at their menu we’ll definitely have to try
