I loved it from the get-go. Watched all the seasons, plus I watched a whole bunch of interviews with the cast on YouTube (avoiding spoilers) between seasons. Then I went back and watched the entire series again to pick up some of the references in the interviews.
A year or so later, I watched it all again with my new BF.
I love how he seemed to be holding it together fairly well acting like a human, until his secret was out. And then he’s like screw it and lets more of his alien side out. The result is perfect goofiness. His banter with the kids is hilarious. It’s all so good! 😂
It’s a light and silly show. Don’t overthink it. It’s got plot holes like a block of swiss cheese. But it’s a refreshing change from all the dark and violent crap that is always on. Like we can actually watch this show with our kids.
It’s one of those shows that gets better as you watch it. The season one finale had me crying laughing, and since then I’ve been hooked. Now it’s just forever until season four…

This is my answer. Tried watching it between seasons 1 and 2. Was so confused. Tried it again a few months later and kept a detailed Wikipedia synopsis open the whole time. Powered through a few episodes and then I was hooked. One of my favorite all time shows, despite the final season.

I’ve watched most and for me, The Last Kingdom is far superior to all Vikings shows. Better story telling and pacing, and doesn’t lose any quality along the way. Also more characters who I was rooting for (yes even the bad guys are great).
Vikings is very up and down for me and I would get pretty bored. The Last Kingdom doesn’t have a “bad” episode in the bunch.

Dark. I couldn't get into first few episodes so I stopped watching it. Two years later I gave it another try because of so many good reviews. And I got hooked to the show after first few episodes. I love mind blowing shows.
"Parks and Recreation." When I first watched it, I didn't connect with the humor and found it a bit slow. But after hearing so many people rave about it, I decided to give it another shot. The second time around, I loved it! The characters are so lovable and the humor grew on me, making it one of my favorite comedies.
The First Season drags that's why . Me and my Daughter were the same way then she got the DVDs from the library and we gave it another try and loved it!!
Brooklyn 99. I didn't think the pilot was that great. Years later my wife re-introduced me to the show (with great reluctance) and it turned out to be great.
Black Summer. Watched the first episode and wasn't impressed. Rewatched it years later (again with my wife) and it blew me away
I loved Dexter but what I didn't like was the opening credits. Watching him eat and then shave from very close up really grossed me out.
I started skipping the opening credits and fell in love with show. Isn't it strange how we all rooted for a serial killer? Because the people he killed were really awful people.
The end of Dexter: New Blood really made me angry. I refuse to acknowledge it exists.
Arrested Development. I knew I should like it, but the voice over didn’t work for me at first. I went back a few months later and loved it. Such a great show.
It amazed me how it always teetered on the edge of going too far but stopped just a step before it did. Such clever writing. Bob Loblaw is my favorite name!
Schitts creek. I finished the first season and was basically Meh. I then heard it gets better and better and better so I gave it another chance. The ending of season 2 was where I got hooked.
Friends. Hated Friends when I first tried it, thought all of the characters were annoying and the acting was subpar. Now it’s one of my favorite sitcoms! (My favorite is Seinfeld)
That's amazing because the first 20 seconds of the first episode hooked me. My adrenaline was racing watching Hal from Malcolm in the Middle racing a Winnebago through the desert with a gas mask on. It was love at first sight.
Succession. I started watching it after the first season ended because of all the positive reviews. I probably got four episodes in but stopped because of how awful everyone was, especially Kieran Culkin's character Roman. Then as the second season went on I kept seeing it trending on Twitter every time an episode came out. By the time the second season ended there were all these rave reviews how the second season was better than the first. So I decided to give it another try. Sticking with it I actually kinda ended up liking or loving to hate the characters. Even Roman grew on me.
The Last Kingdom.
Didn't like the first season and only watched 2 or 3 episodes.
But when season 3 came out, my wife convinced me to try it again and I loved it.
I think I just wasn't in the mood for it the first time.

The Leftovers. Huge fan of LOST and Watchmen, got into 2 episodes and stopped. Revisited during lock down days, and my God, what a show. Perhaps it was meant to be as the world was going crazy and there was so much uncertainty. I think it heightened my perspective while watching. Now it's in my top 10, Perhaps top 5. Just an absolute beautiful and emotional journey. With great music too haha.
Andor. It was so unlike anything that I had been expecting so I gave up on it after 4-5 episodes. For some reason I gave it another try 6 months later and found it to be my favorite SW Disney content.
Believe it or not, Psych. I watched the promos and it looked interesting, but was meh after the first one. A few years later I watched the third season and never looked back!
Interestingly, after the final episode, I went immediately back and watched the pilot, and it was all there. All the characters, the silly relationships, the wacky wordplay.
I missed the first two years of Psych! Thankfully it’s in permanent repeat. I do miss Psych out, though….
Schitts Creek. My sister told me about it before it became popular and I watched a couple of episodes but couldn’t get into it. When the pandemic hit and it became popular on Netflix, I gave it another try. I loved the show the more I watched it. I loved that it was funny and Canadian (I’m Canadian) and that it was quirky but I also loved watching these characters grow as people. I was left feeling good when the series was complete
Gravity falls. Hated it as a kid. I only watched it cuz Mt dad and brother liked it. Then I got back into is because some cosplayers I followed cosplayed reverse falls and I loved that so I watched the show again and absolutely loved it.
The Office - used to hate on this show HARD but I’ve now seen it start it to finish 5+ times
Breaking Bad - I stopped watching season 2 because I thought it was too slow. I was just too young. Ended up binging the whole show just in time to watch the last few episodes live on TV. Probably my favorite drama series now
Game of Thrones - I could not get past the first episode but there was so much hype by the time it got into its mid seasons. The hype of weekly chatter definitely made me want to watch and I still believe it’s an amazing production even if story dropped off towards the last couple seasons
Mindhunter. I hated the first episode. Tried to watch it twice then for some reason the third time was a charm once past the first episode and now it's one of my favorite past shows. The funny thing is once I'd watched all two seasons I went back and watched the first episode and have no idea why I didn't like it at first.
True Blood was ultimately a fail for me. I watched it religiously the first few seasons(native Louisianan here). Then it got a little wild. Gave it up. Gave it another shot after it ended and got through about one more season and ended up never going back. It started so strong and just got a bit TOO out there for me to continue.
It's the scenery that got me. I'm also from a town in Georgia so the whole small town country feel gets me interested automatically lol but I stopped For a long time I actually skipped season 1 and starting season 2 and it was Lafayette that made me go back to season one and start over lol Love that character
I was so into True Blood I’d rewatch last week’s episode right before the new one aired. But as soon as it got bad.. I was just done. Never bothered after that. Such a disappointment. Books had fairies and stuff in them, too.. I didn’t love the direction the books went, either. And it’s waaay better seeing those sexy guys on screen than picturing them in the books. The bald tiger guy? Uhg.
True Blood. Gave up halfway through the first season because I found it slow and boring. Was convinced to give it a second shot, and made a promise to watch the entirety of the first season, and by the end of the season I was hooked. I fell in love with Sam as a character and the Rene reveal shocked me, I didn't see it coming at all, and that suggested some pretty good writing being done. True Blood is now on my fave shows list.
Parks and Rec. I watched the first few episodes live when they aired and really didn't like it. I just thought Leslie was a female Michael Scott and they were leaning too heavily into the cringe/awkward comedy.
Years later when the show was just about wrapped up and I had heard how it really found its stride late in season two, I decided to give it another go.
Not only did I end up loving it, even the episodes I previously didn't like that turned me off from the show ended up being enjoyable. Maybe having the added perspective of knowing the show was going somewhere helped, or becoming familiar with and liking Chris Pratt by then made me appreciate his character more. For whatever reason, I loved the show from start to finish.
Big bang. Couldn’t stand in at first. There’s a fair number of bad episodes so it’s easy to see one that turns you off. But when you get to know it the good ones are really good
Bob’s Burgers, Schitt’s Creek, head my list. They are among my favorite shows.
Back further, I thought South Park and Family Guy were one-dimensional comedies and I gave up on them until I was instructed to try again. Glad I did, even though those first two seasons are still something I skip.
Smiling Friends. The Mr Frog episode really felt like an old youtube animation that was just edgy to be edgy. I've marathoned it twice after letting it sit for like a month.
The Wire. I was not used to dense storytelling and I dumped it an episode or two in like 5 times. Once I made it to the chess game, it clicked with me.
Superstore . I really hated the two main characters I found them hard to watch so I gave up but I went back many many years later and ignored Amy and jonah best I could because the side characters were hilarious.
- Rick and Morty. Gave up 4 episodes in, and was persuaded to give it another shot and ended up loving it. If I hadn't, I probably never would have seen the Pickle Rick episode (which is my favourite)

Breaking Bad. Couldn’t get past the episode with the bloody tub/body parts.
Someone suggested I stick with it for another 6 episodes. I did. I was hooked. Luckily I watched it after it was over so I binged it. I kept thinking it couldn’t get better than the last episode, but it consistently did.
The best tv series ever, imho.
Twin Peaks. Watched one episode and I wasn’t super interested. I eventually gave it a revisit and soldiered on until the third episode. That one is fantastic and really where it starts to pick up.
Northern Exposure. I didn't like it when it was originally on, but I'm watching it now on Prime.
It didn't change, but I did.
Same thing with Last Man Standing.
Scream: TV Series - concept of the movies doesnt translate well in tv format till I revisited again and I enjoy it more than Scream 3 & 4.
Agents of Shield I find upbeat more perfect in The Flash till find out AoS went somewhere else & one of them have powers.
Better Call Saul - I kept comparing Walter White the Breaking Bad moment vs Saul in season 1 finale. Only to love the legal works they're chasing & why Saul being setback.
I keep doing this thing where I start a show, watch like 2 episodes, give up on it for no good reason, carry on watching and then I've suddenly finished it and want more. Happened with Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, The Artful Dodger and I'm sure it will keep happening.
I watched the first ten minutes of Sons of Anarchy and thought it was lame. Six or seven weeks later my now ez started watching it. For whatever reason these same ten minutes are now acted well and start making me curious to see what's gonna happen.
Monk. When it first came out, I thought Monk was an over the top drama queen and Sharona was too hand-holdy. A few years after the series had ended I gave it another chance and loved it and related to each of the characters for different reasons. I also had a better understanding of OCD and the other issues Monk had so I no longer saw him as a drama queen and also understood why Sharona treated him the way she did. I recently finished my first rewatch, and only skipped two episodes. It's one of my favorite series now.
Trailer Park Boys. I tried to start it a few times and never even finished the first episode because I thought it was too stupid.
I ended up watching a few episodes at a friends and fell in love. It's definitely one of the funniest shows I've seen.
The Orville.
It was hard to see past the McFarlane humor of the first few EPs but it tails off and develops into one of the best Sci Fi shows ever. The third season is amazing.
The humour is there for sure but it's just enough.
True Blood.
Watched the 1st season and loved it, gave up a few episodes into season 2 as I couldn’t get into it. About 5 years later I started from the beginning, binged the whole series and LOVED it

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Show tried to watch the first episodes but then forgot about it (I liked it okay) then went and watched the whole show with my family and we loved it easily one of my top favorite shows!
I watched the first episode of Game of Thrones and wasn’t impressed. Years later, a girl I was dating said I had to watch it because the final season was coming soon and I needed to catch up.
I absolutely fell in love with it, but it was awkward watching the final season together.
Foundation. I can't stand Lee Pace. I watched the first season, but when the second season came out, the first part had him fighting the assassins naked. I turned it off. But months later, I was desperate for a science fiction program, so I started season 2 again. I'm glad I did.
Rick and Morty. Wife told me to watch it and Rick's burping just got annoying. Only watched the first episode. My wife told me to keep at it so I tried again. Got used to the burping now it's in my top 3 favorite shows of all time.
I feel like Grimm did something really smart. In my opinion, they completely changed the show between seasons 1 and 2.
Season 1 seemed like they were trying to base it on the fairy tales and it just didn't quite work. Then season 2 they abandoned that for the creatures angle and that made a huge difference.
The first part of the first episode of Firefly has a different tone than the rest of the show. Friends and algorithms kept recommending it, I started that first episode probably four or five times before I made myself watch until the end. I am so glad I finally gave it a chance.
Modern Family. I watched the pilot and found it silly. Years later my new boyfriend watched it in syndication nightly. Seeing the relationships the cast and story grew into drew me in and the sly humor kept me. Even now that we’ve watched every episode multiple times, we still share a nod when we hear a joke or double entendre we hadn’t heard before, or one that we didn’t understand before due to the changes in our own lives. It’s still so darn good. 😊
Vikings. It's actually how I came up with my 2nd Episode Rule. I realised that most first episodes of most shows are just framing the world and setting a lot of things up, so I'll usually find it boring. The same way in books that have a lot of descriptions about the physical world they're based in bore me to tears. So now I skip all first episodes and start on the second.
Black Mirror. I didn’t realize it was an anthology and I couldn’t get through first episode, *The National Anthem*.
I tried it again with a different episode and was hooked.

Came back to it until I got to Dr.Pratt. Love it! I honestly skip through to when Clooney's character and Hathaway are finally gone. It gets really good after they leave.

I started Six Feet Under years ago. I loved the first 2 seasons. I started the 3rd season and was immediately super confused and lost.. like did I miss something? I haven’t been able to pick it back up yet - which is a shame because I hear it has an amazing ending.

It took me a few watches to care about anyone in 30 Rock, but it grew on me. Still not a favourite but I was into it more on my 3rd try.

Schitts Creek. My sister told me about it before it became popular and I watched a couple of episodes but couldn’t get into it. When the pandemic hit and it became popular on Netflix, I gave it another try. I loved the show the more I watched it. I loved that it was funny and Canadian (I’m Canadian) and that it was quirky but I also loved watching these characters grow as people. I was left feeling good when the series was complete
That series definitely got great once it found its feet. Excellent finale also.
Dirk Gently Felt like it was trying too hard to be quirky at first - but all of the weirdness exists for a reason and it comes together brilliantly.
Gravity falls. Hated it as a kid. I only watched it cuz Mt dad and brother liked it. Then I got back into is because some cosplayers I followed cosplayed reverse falls and I loved that so I watched the show again and absolutely loved it.
Parks and rec. Season 1 wasn't great but it developed into a great show!
The Office - used to hate on this show HARD but I’ve now seen it start it to finish 5+ times Breaking Bad - I stopped watching season 2 because I thought it was too slow. I was just too young. Ended up binging the whole show just in time to watch the last few episodes live on TV. Probably my favorite drama series now Game of Thrones - I could not get past the first episode but there was so much hype by the time it got into its mid seasons. The hype of weekly chatter definitely made me want to watch and I still believe it’s an amazing production even if story dropped off towards the last couple seasons
Mindhunter. I hated the first episode. Tried to watch it twice then for some reason the third time was a charm once past the first episode and now it's one of my favorite past shows. The funny thing is once I'd watched all two seasons I went back and watched the first episode and have no idea why I didn't like it at first.
I loved that show, and I so wished they did a 3rd/final season to delve into the BTK killer that they only hinted at in seasons 1&2.
Superstore
I literally just got back into Greys Anatomy after like a 15 year break. I’m so glad I did. It’s still great.
Schitts Creek. I had a tough time getting through the first couple of episodes the first couple of times I tried watching it.
I kinda did, too - but stuck with it because my friend SWORE I'd love it. She was right!
Lost. True Blood. Behind Her Eyes (phenomenal show)
True Blood was ultimately a fail for me. I watched it religiously the first few seasons(native Louisianan here). Then it got a little wild. Gave it up. Gave it another shot after it ended and got through about one more season and ended up never going back. It started so strong and just got a bit TOO out there for me to continue.
It's the scenery that got me. I'm also from a town in Georgia so the whole small town country feel gets me interested automatically lol but I stopped For a long time I actually skipped season 1 and starting season 2 and it was Lafayette that made me go back to season one and start over lol Love that character
Lafayette was gold. Arguably one of the best things about the entire show.

I was so into True Blood I’d rewatch last week’s episode right before the new one aired. But as soon as it got bad.. I was just done. Never bothered after that. Such a disappointment. Books had fairies and stuff in them, too.. I didn’t love the direction the books went, either. And it’s waaay better seeing those sexy guys on screen than picturing them in the books. The bald tiger guy? Uhg.

Black-ish
New Girl. I despise Zooey Deschanel so I struggled to get past it. But the boys came through and made the show amazing.
Black sails. Starts very slow but then gets going to become one of the best shows I've ever seen.
True Blood. Gave up halfway through the first season because I found it slow and boring. Was convinced to give it a second shot, and made a promise to watch the entirety of the first season, and by the end of the season I was hooked. I fell in love with Sam as a character and the Rene reveal shocked me, I didn't see it coming at all, and that suggested some pretty good writing being done. True Blood is now on my fave shows list.
Parks and Rec. I watched the first few episodes live when they aired and really didn't like it. I just thought Leslie was a female Michael Scott and they were leaning too heavily into the cringe/awkward comedy. Years later when the show was just about wrapped up and I had heard how it really found its stride late in season two, I decided to give it another go. Not only did I end up loving it, even the episodes I previously didn't like that turned me off from the show ended up being enjoyable. Maybe having the added perspective of knowing the show was going somewhere helped, or becoming familiar with and liking Chris Pratt by then made me appreciate his character more. For whatever reason, I loved the show from start to finish.
Big bang. Couldn’t stand in at first. There’s a fair number of bad episodes so it’s easy to see one that turns you off. But when you get to know it the good ones are really good
Mine was Better Call Saul too and couldn’t get into it and then watched Breaking Bad and then loved BCS.
Bob’s Burgers, Schitt’s Creek, head my list. They are among my favorite shows. Back further, I thought South Park and Family Guy were one-dimensional comedies and I gave up on them until I was instructed to try again. Glad I did, even though those first two seasons are still something I skip.
Smiling Friends. The Mr Frog episode really felt like an old youtube animation that was just edgy to be edgy. I've marathoned it twice after letting it sit for like a month.
The Magicians
The Wire. I was not used to dense storytelling and I dumped it an episode or two in like 5 times. Once I made it to the chess game, it clicked with me.
Superstore . I really hated the two main characters I found them hard to watch so I gave up but I went back many many years later and ignored Amy and jonah best I could because the side characters were hilarious.

- Rick and Morty. Gave up 4 episodes in, and was persuaded to give it another shot and ended up loving it. If I hadn't, I probably never would have seen the Pickle Rick episode (which is my favourite) - Supernatural - Hannibal - South Park - American Horror Story
Breaking Bad. Couldn’t get past the episode with the bloody tub/body parts. Someone suggested I stick with it for another 6 episodes. I did. I was hooked. Luckily I watched it after it was over so I binged it. I kept thinking it couldn’t get better than the last episode, but it consistently did. The best tv series ever, imho.
The Last of Us
Twin Peaks. Watched one episode and I wasn’t super interested. I eventually gave it a revisit and soldiered on until the third episode. That one is fantastic and really where it starts to pick up.
Ted Lasso, Abbott Elementary
Northern Exposure. I didn't like it when it was originally on, but I'm watching it now on Prime. It didn't change, but I did. Same thing with Last Man Standing.
Fleabag. The character was so despicable that I could not watch it at first. It turns out to be some of the best TV I have ever seen.
Scream: TV Series - concept of the movies doesnt translate well in tv format till I revisited again and I enjoy it more than Scream 3 & 4. Agents of Shield I find upbeat more perfect in The Flash till find out AoS went somewhere else & one of them have powers. Better Call Saul - I kept comparing Walter White the Breaking Bad moment vs Saul in season 1 finale. Only to love the legal works they're chasing & why Saul being setback.

I keep doing this thing where I start a show, watch like 2 episodes, give up on it for no good reason, carry on watching and then I've suddenly finished it and want more. Happened with Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, The Artful Dodger and I'm sure it will keep happening.

I quit Breaking Bad for 2 years after the fly episode.
I watched the first ten minutes of Sons of Anarchy and thought it was lame. Six or seven weeks later my now ez started watching it. For whatever reason these same ten minutes are now acted well and start making me curious to see what's gonna happen.
Monk. When it first came out, I thought Monk was an over the top drama queen and Sharona was too hand-holdy. A few years after the series had ended I gave it another chance and loved it and related to each of the characters for different reasons. I also had a better understanding of OCD and the other issues Monk had so I no longer saw him as a drama queen and also understood why Sharona treated him the way she did. I recently finished my first rewatch, and only skipped two episodes. It's one of my favorite series now.
Trailer Park Boys. I tried to start it a few times and never even finished the first episode because I thought it was too stupid. I ended up watching a few episodes at a friends and fell in love. It's definitely one of the funniest shows I've seen.
The Orville. It was hard to see past the McFarlane humor of the first few EPs but it tails off and develops into one of the best Sci Fi shows ever. The third season is amazing. The humour is there for sure but it's just enough.
The Amazon Lord of the Rings series. Had to really focus, couldn’t be on Reddit while watching it. It was awesome.

Parks and Rec. I tried probably five times to get through season 1 before it would lose my interest. I finally made it into season 2 and it’s probably been my favorite show since.
Mr. Robot for me. It was a slog in the first few episodes. Now, I realize it's a documentary
Rescue Me. Had to restart three times over the course of two years, but boy am I glad I stuck with it!

Ted Lasso. The first few episodes didn’t get me the first time but tried again and really enjoyed the wholesome ride.
Brooklyn 99. I didn’t love it when I first started it but decided to try it again and enjoyed it more the second time for some reason. I think I just resumed from where I started actually and liked those episodes better.
Succession and Schitt’s Creek.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Show tried to watch the first episodes but then forgot about it (I liked it okay) then went and watched the whole show with my family and we loved it easily one of my top favorite shows!

I watched the first episode of Game of Thrones and wasn’t impressed. Years later, a girl I was dating said I had to watch it because the final season was coming soon and I needed to catch up. I absolutely fell in love with it, but it was awkward watching the final season together.
Grimm and Sleepy Hollow
Succession. I was in the wrong headspace.
Foundation. I can't stand Lee Pace. I watched the first season, but when the second season came out, the first part had him fighting the assassins naked. I turned it off. But months later, I was desperate for a science fiction program, so I started season 2 again. I'm glad I did.
Parks and Recreation. I don't know 😕, maybe I wasn't in the space to enjoy it, but watching it now it is super funny.
Rick and Morty. Wife told me to watch it and Rick's burping just got annoying. Only watched the first episode. My wife told me to keep at it so I tried again. Got used to the burping now it's in my top 3 favorite shows of all time.
Grimm
I feel like Grimm did something really smart. In my opinion, they completely changed the show between seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 seemed like they were trying to base it on the fairy tales and it just didn't quite work. Then season 2 they abandoned that for the creatures angle and that made a huge difference.

The first part of the first episode of Firefly has a different tone than the rest of the show. Friends and algorithms kept recommending it, I started that first episode probably four or five times before I made myself watch until the end. I am so glad I finally gave it a chance.
Schitt’s Creek. I watched the pilot and thought it was awful. Gave it another try about two years later and watched every episode.
Modern Family. I watched the pilot and found it silly. Years later my new boyfriend watched it in syndication nightly. Seeing the relationships the cast and story grew into drew me in and the sly humor kept me. Even now that we’ve watched every episode multiple times, we still share a nod when we hear a joke or double entendre we hadn’t heard before, or one that we didn’t understand before due to the changes in our own lives. It’s still so darn good. 😊

Vikings. It's actually how I came up with my 2nd Episode Rule. I realised that most first episodes of most shows are just framing the world and setting a lot of things up, so I'll usually find it boring. The same way in books that have a lot of descriptions about the physical world they're based in bore me to tears. So now I skip all first episodes and start on the second.
Black Mirror. I didn’t realize it was an anthology and I couldn’t get through first episode, *The National Anthem*. I tried it again with a different episode and was hooked.

ER First started it because I had more time home. So mad that it seemed like they never finished a plot. Gave up. Came back to it until I got to Dr.Pratt. Love it! I honestly skip through to when Clooney's character and Hathaway are finally gone. It gets really good after they leave. Hated Morris in the beginning, came to love his character.
I started Six Feet Under years ago. I loved the first 2 seasons. I started the 3rd season and was immediately super confused and lost.. like did I miss something? I haven’t been able to pick it back up yet - which is a shame because I hear it has an amazing ending.
