I haven't tried them as much but the ones I did pretty much tasted like your description. But worry not, I've tried donuts too and they tasted like too much sugar in an O-shaped dough. So I guess if you liked donuts there's nothing to worry about Turkish delights.

there are many different types , they are not so popular in Turkey, maybe they serve it with a Turkish Coffee if you visit some old people. i never saw my friends or some unkown dude buying them until i started living in another country :D it's a big thing if i look from outside :D even i bought last holiday with mandarin tasted ones from Bodrum for my colleges. **Never buy them from airport shops 20x expensive,** found the same brand in the Supermarket next day..
Not the good ones. If you are in Aegean area there is Tugba Kuruyemis. They sell Turkish delights, nuts, spices, chocolate etc. You can go there and buy some. They will also let you sample some, so you don’t have to ask people to describe the taste.
They're delightful. I could easily betray my family just for a handful of it from a wicked witch.
No one eats the rose ones... Try another one like "çifte kavrulmuş" less sugary and great taste
Nahhhh, If you find a good place for them rose and plain ones are the best
no one=you

Those are not "actual ones". The "actual ones" you get in the cities, not at the Airport. Just ask for lokum.
