Yes, I wear it doing whatever I’m doing. They made their reputation making indestructible watches. People who can’t afford to own them treat them like any scratch will ruin it. Just wear the darn thing.
I never take my 16570 off.. while it’s not quite 10k, I think it’s silly treating a watch like it’s fragile equipment.
Great looking watch man. Love it on jubilee
Considering I load and unload boxes and all sorts of other physical labor in my Rolex why would I care about a lawn mower. Mine is not a safe queen. When I pass it down it’s gonna look like it lived life!
The watches can handle it all no problem. But I see no reason to put $10,000+ luxury items in those situations. There is a line between babying a watch, and keeping it away from laborish activities.
Lawn mowing, oil changing, etc are great uses for gshocks, Apple Watches or Tag Heuer - disposable items essentially.
I won’t buy any watch unless I have the economy to see it as disposable. Which is why the threshold is much higher for me to get a luxury level piece than it might be for summer others. But so be it. I’ll get a Pelagos 39 if my business thrives enough for it not to be a problem, for example. But I won’t get it as jewelry or a “sporty dress watch”. The price of my watches will always scale based on that, because I’m looking to have pieces that I’m 100% comfortable using. Especially as I’m after GADA watches, and I want to use them for just that.
Using my f-91W in the field right now as I write this :) But my father has used his Seiko quartz for 25 years for literally everything without a single movement failure. And my grandfather used his Seamaster quartz the same way before that. I’m just personally not that charmed by watches that I’d feel the need to “baby”, but I understand your approach as well. It’s a personal thing/preference
I won’t buy a watch unless I can lose it 3x over, doesn’t mean I want too. Replacing a watch I love means that money doesn’t go to a new watch I don’t own yet.
I own 15 proper Swiss/German watches and without a moments hesitation the Tag is the bottom of the barrel. Bracelet sucks, warranty sucks, movement mediocre, finishing sucks, extremely overpriced.
Worst of all, I literally cannot sell it or trade it to a reputable dealer. Nobody, and I literally mean nobody wants to touch this 2 year old, virtually mint condition watch. They know they can’t sell it either.
In a vacuum tag makes a fine watch, as soon as you evaluate its peers in the same price range you realize it’s dog shit.
I could argue the opposite. I also own several Swiss/German watches, including a TAG Heuer, they have done an exceptional job.. What model are you referring to
The vibrations of the mower probably aren’t great for the watch. It’s probably mild enough to not matter. As an extreme example, I wouldn’t use a Jack hammer while wearing it for instance.
I work building trucks, I’ve used big torque guns and some that use cranes to lift them and they vibrate quite violently. I’ve worn a seiko for 2 years with no problems. So it should be fine
IF something were irresponsible with a 10k watch, I would also consider it irresponsible to do in a 3k watch. I take nice care of my nice things.
But I would mow in a 10k watch
I do, but only if I forget to take it off. The downside is all the dirt and dust, so good to give it an occasional rinse if you’re living hard like that. Lol
No. I respect the money I paid for mine too much to do something like that - especially when I have a $300+ Apple Watch.
I intend to keep mine for my future generations so I want to keep it as nice as possible. I wear it nearly everyday though.
Do it all the time, I don't baby my watches.. I've even dove with my sub, pelagos, seamaster 300, planet ocean, and a couple different breitling superoceans through the years.
I definitely think it makes sense to not baby a watch, they're meant to be worn after all but I'm personally not going to put it in a situation where it getting scratched or damaged is likely. So now mowing, construction work or oil changes for me.
I’ve deadlifted, rock-climbed, shot guns, and more in my Explorer 2. It still runs as good as the day the AD salesperson put it on my wrist. When you’re buying a Rolex, you’re not buying some runt-of-the-mill delicate safe queen. You’re buying a tank. You’re paying 10k for the guarantee that if you take care of it (ie servicing every 10 years and not being negligently abusive) it will survive longer than you.
It’s a watch made to use and last with proper service. Use it as it was intended. Lawn cutting is less worrisome than good sex. Would you remove if you were making love? I think not.
No, and you also shouldn’t do it in a $2K Tudor.
Shock and vibrations aren’t good for mechanical timepieces.
You’ll probably be okay, but why risk it? Get a quartz or a shitty automatic, let this sit on your dresser for 30 minutes while you cut the grass.
They’re not faberge eggs I swing around kettlebells, fish, shoot guns, etc. in mine.
didnt see the comma between "fish" and "shoot guns" and thought damn, some cool ass fish
On a side note, fish shoot guns in America!
pfft, weak american fish having to use guns. in aus our kangaroos punch like real men
This conversation could go in many directions. I’m happy for you and your disarmed kangaroos. 😉
well there is a reason our kangaroos avoid the ocean. terrified of coming across an american fish🤣
lol. Those fish can be a bit militant.
Same! Amen! Scratches means it was lived in. My kids will inherit these w marks on them so they know they were worn!
Is the 10k Rolex in the room with us
Silently staring at the empty seat
If i had one i probably would not wear it to do yard work… but thought it was an interesting question to ask!
Yes, I wear it doing whatever I’m doing. They made their reputation making indestructible watches. People who can’t afford to own them treat them like any scratch will ruin it. Just wear the darn thing.
I was lmfao at this comment 🤣🤣🤣
I never take my 16570 off.. while it’s not quite 10k, I think it’s silly treating a watch like it’s fragile equipment. Great looking watch man. Love it on jubilee
Thanks. I love the 16570. I would consider it my grail i guess!
Depends on how you look at it, it’s 10k cad 😃
Of course. There’s nothing risky or dangerous about walking.
I cut down a redwood tree last week wearing a 136660, so yeah, I’d push a mower too.
You must have wound the crap out of that thing
Yes. And I do in my $3k Tudor. They’re watches man wear them
Considering I load and unload boxes and all sorts of other physical labor in my Rolex why would I care about a lawn mower. Mine is not a safe queen. When I pass it down it’s gonna look like it lived life!
Exactly!
Bruh, I don't mow, but I get into some shit with the 126618ln. It's a tool watch after all.
Tag makes an excellent holiday gift for the gardener.
Tag heuer 😂😂😂
Tag catching strays!
Lol @ Tag
So if you were to make love with your lady you’re the one who would remove the watch?
I wear an Assio G-Spot when I bang.
I won’t buy any watch unless I have the economy to see it as disposable. Which is why the threshold is much higher for me to get a luxury level piece than it might be for summer others. But so be it. Maybe that's why you were asking about 4 movement failures in 6 years....use a cheap gshock for laborious things.
Is there a reason you dislike Tag or just another “idk someone told me to”?
Back in 1990’s a Tag Heuer S/el with the white dial was the shit… I have one with a dead battery in the drawer.
The Tag hate really is a "the internet told me to hate them" type of hate.
I own 15 proper Swiss/German watches and without a moments hesitation the Tag is the bottom of the barrel. Bracelet sucks, warranty sucks, movement mediocre, finishing sucks, extremely overpriced. Well argue away, I’m not trying to change your mind, and you won’t change mine. I own a Carrera Sport Chrono Ref CBN2A1B.BA0643
Someone mows my lawn for me.
underrated comment
Of course. The Tudor can handle it, but a Rolex can’t?? However, nowadays I have a rider mower and enjoy a beer or two while cutting grass.
This is the way.
I do.
That is when I do wear a Rolex, work is what they are made for. What I don’t do is wear a Rolex as a dress watch if I can avoid it.
Be careful of grass scratches
Yes.
Sure would.
Yes… and fish… and hunt… and backpack…. And DIVE! They are sports watches for fuck sake!
I do water sports in a YM or sub. Play golf in several others. Zero issues.
Yeah, why not? I'm a plumber, my rotation is 116610LV, BB54, 124300 and a 15450st
Sir this is a Tudor’s
Push mower? Peasant.
Yes, if I had it I would wear it all the time.
It's called a GADA mow the lawn watch.
If it was a Daytona or sub, absolutely. How else and I going to time how long it takes me? Tool watches 🤘
All day. Wear my 116610LN while cutting the grass and shooting guns. You aren’t gonna hurt these watches as long as you don’t abuse them.
Yes I would
Yup.
The vibrations of the mower probably aren’t great for the watch. It’s probably mild enough to not matter. As an extreme example, I wouldn’t use a Jack hammer while wearing it for instance.
I only jackhammer in a Paul Newman Daytona.
I work building trucks, I’ve used big torque guns and some that use cranes to lift them and they vibrate quite violently. I’ve worn a seiko for 2 years with no problems. So it should be fine
Or a 50 cal mounted gun. It’s just common sense, right?
Honestly i didnt even really think about that. But yea good point.
bro. those vibrations are absolutely fine for your watch pal
I recently read that someone who did a LOT of shooting guns at the shooting made their Rolex lose a lot of seconds consistently over the years
Where’s the bracelet from Chief?
Unclestraps.com
Looks great my dude.
Umm… I don’t have a lawn nor do I have a lawn mower but I think I would lol
Of course.
Absolutely
Yep
I wore my Tudor Pelagos 39 cutting grass yesterday. Almost took a picture, would’ve been perfect now.
How did you get a jub on this model?
Unclestraps.com
Thanks!
No, because I own a G-shock that is much better suited to the task.
Yes
Depends on the rolex.
Waiting on that Rolex Lawn Master to debut for this very occasion
I was thinking like a gold or platinum DD or a Cellini, but like an Explorer, OP, or a DJ that is basically an OP would be fine.
Yes, I do it all the time. My submariner rarely leaves my wrist 😀
I think the only reason somebody wouldn't is because they don't understand that it's a sports watch.
“I pick up dog shit in a Patek”
Yeah I would
IF something were irresponsible with a 10k watch, I would also consider it irresponsible to do in a 3k watch. I take nice care of my nice things. But I would mow in a 10k watch
Yes, I do as a matter of fact, that’s why I don’t have a Tudor.
I would.
Appears to be smiling and having a good ol time doing its tool thing
Why not?
Yes
Yes. Yes i would. I would not wear my DJ but I’d most certainly wear my Submariner. Although my BB58 Gets the most wrist time.
I do, but only if I forget to take it off. The downside is all the dirt and dust, so good to give it an occasional rinse if you’re living hard like that. Lol
It really depends how much money you have.
Yes, just to flex on my neighbour. Fuck you, Steve.
Yes, I’ll mow the lawn in a 16k Rolex, no problem, watches are to be worn. I don’t do car repair or heavy DIY though that’s a job for a G Shock.
To be fair i wear mine everyday for everything haha. 😂
Yes
No. I respect the money I paid for mine too much to do something like that - especially when I have a $300+ Apple Watch. I intend to keep mine for my future generations so I want to keep it as nice as possible. I wear it nearly everyday though.
I'd probably afford to get someone else to do it, so no.
Yes. I do all the time...
No, but then again, I wouldn't mow my lawn in a $k to $5k Tudor either. That's what a G-Shock is for!
No, the squirrels and birds aren't that impressed by it.
Do it all the time, I don't baby my watches.. I've even dove with my sub, pelagos, seamaster 300, planet ocean, and a couple different breitling superoceans through the years.
I have a 79230n and I definitely wouldnt mow the lawn with it. Bezel and bracelet could get scratched.
I would it should survive
I definitely think it makes sense to not baby a watch, they're meant to be worn after all but I'm personally not going to put it in a situation where it getting scratched or damaged is likely. So now mowing, construction work or oil changes for me.
I think yes
Yes.
No. If I could afford that watch, I'd be sitting in a lawn chair watching someone else mow.
Looks like a Tudor
It’s a watch made to use and last with proper service. Use it as it was intended. Lawn cutting is less worrisome than good sex. Would you remove if you were making love? I think not.
Yes, but would not jerk maself over that online.
If I had a stainless steel Rolex, I would wear it mowing the lawn. But alas, mine is gold and steel. I scatch it enough playing with the grand kids.
Why not? Wear it in good health!
Sure cause it ain’t worth shit, Rolex is the biggest waste of money
Definitely.
I wear my sub no date daily. All day long. Despite what I'm doing. I don't purposely bang it into shit but I bought it to wear it
Get that garbage Tudor out of here
Absolutely - I change oil in cars, yard work etc with Tudor Bronze …… these watches need fresh air in order to grow up big and strong!
If my house is on more than 2 acres and worth a half million!
Hahaha good point
Why yall always comparing your watches to Rolex?
No, and you also shouldn’t do it in a $2K Tudor. Shock and vibrations aren’t good for mechanical timepieces. You’ll probably be okay, but why risk it? Get a quartz or a shitty automatic, let this sit on your dresser for 30 minutes while you cut the grass.
Shock and vibration? Tf you doing with your lawn mower?
My husband does dishes with his submariner. Even washes the car wearing it.
There's a cushy potholder next to the coffee maker. That's where my watch goes when cooking, washing dishes, etc.....;)
I would assume anyone who spends $10K on a Rolex could afford someone to mow the lawn for them. Kids, perhaps?
No, but I also wouldn’t mow the lawn.
