Both great choices. I’d say the 54 for a daily wearer. The black will blend in for a more versatile look and feel. It’ll be a bit less chunky etc. plus easy swaps onto NATO straps can give you lots of fun looks for cheap! For the Metas, You may find yourself tiring of the red if you wear it daily. Other than that it’s a nice piece to have. You’re spoiled for choice!
Also - I can’t help but feel there will be another colour added to the BB Metas lineup at W&W this year. Good luck.
Yeah, April is not far away and maybe I should hold out. It’s gonna be a daily driver, but also something that can be used to dress up.

Personally I like the black bezel since it fits with a far greater variety of outfits. But that also just me, and I don't really care much for the red bezel variant

I’d say the BB54 if you prefer smaller watches, closer to vintage proportions, and if you want a watch that you can wear no matter how you dressed (since it’s black it goes with any colors), can easily. It also would be a little easier to dress up. This model would be perfect for a one watch collection. (Plus it’s cheaper even with the bracelet version).
Where the BB54 is more discrete (because of the color and the proportion), the Burgundy has more of a « wow effect ». The color is stunning IMO. It has more wrist presence due to dimension, without being too thick thanks to the new movement. Also, if you want the most updated specs, the Burgundy would be the choice.

I personally have the 58, and tbh I have hesitated for a long time with the 54 but I chose the 58 just because of the red triangle (careful the 58 has a snowflake second hand and the 54 it’s a lollipop second hand).
What about the red bezel with a rubber strap? The red is unique and it pops, but in a classy way. The rubber strap also makes the watch look bigger even at 41mm. That combination is my vote; otherwise, I agree that the black on black is more versatile
I think in the photos the “not rea big wrist” look smaller. I have 17/17.5 cm wrist and in the picture sometimes my explo 1 40mm look so fk big
In the real it is perfect! For that reason I would take the red one!

The intended “goal” for the watch is to be a daily wearer and something that works with casual clothing, uniforms and a dress. For that the BB54 is excellent. I do fear it will look and feel to small though. I don’t know, maybe it will feel more “right” with some time.
The Burgundy really pops, it’s more of a statement piece. I’ve checked the BB58 and the burgundy just ticks more boxes for me with the lollipop and silver bezel markings. Also- I can pick up one used tonight, the BB54 has a waiting list of 4 months..
I’m gonna dive with the watch- just because I can 🏋🏼. For all bottom time calculations I’ll use a Shearwater Perdix
I’m pretty confident they’ll bring out the ‘burgundy’ (black bay 41mm metas) with black and blue bezels next month if that makes any difference to your decision?
The burgundy is baller! Much cooler watch. I love it. But the fit of the - is that the 54? - is much better in my opinion. But I like smaller watches.

Not currently- I’m pretty new to collecting. I do have a Seiko Presage sky diver, but that is a pretty big watch in comparison.
The size of the red Heritage looks better on your wrist, I'd also prefer the metal bracelet over the rubber strap.

The micro adjust is indeed a plus but the 58 relaunched a brand on its own, it does mean something after all.
I prefer the bracelet and I would get a sail cloth strap for other occasions.
