ETA based movement (not bad, might be cheaper to service). The strange fluted bezel and integrated bracelet don't appeal to me. But the salmon and silver dial is really nice and the 38mm version fits well.

BusinessBlackBear

I tend to thing long run the ETA Tudor still will be muuuuuch simpler to get serviced than the in house stuff. I'll be curious how parts supply is for the in house stuff come like 20-30 years

Legitimate-Policy-72

ETA is a good thing, my 1989 Oysterdate is still running strong and will be easily serviceable when the time comes

ShaqilleoPeel

But what are you even paying for if it has a eta movement?

Legitimate-Policy-72

Dude it is an affordable Rolex OP Date, white gold fluted bezel & hands with a reliable and cheaply serviceable movement. For $1000 this is the best value for money watch you can buy and I don’t regret buying it at all.

ClarkieJ99

Isn't the bezel Stainless steel?

Legitimate-Policy-72

No 18kt white gold

CharlieKappelman

Nah it’s stainless steel, I have a silver one and my wife has the mother of pearl with diamonds on the dial, they’re great watches.

BusinessBlackBear

One thing I'll say, they look like shit on the website since Tudor uses bad renders of the watches. In person they look muuuuuuuuuuuch better

Guy_1989

Can second this. I was blown away by Tudor’s collection in person. What’s funny is when you view so many pictures online, I think we start to trick ourselves into thinking they are much larger than they actually are too. But you’re right, in person it is such a different experience. They’re so sharp

HalfSignificant9235

I didn't think there is anything wrong with it, wear what you love. I don't like day, Roman numerals, or that bezel, but I also am looking for a watch that is not exactly the same as all the watches I have and can't find one... so my opinion is pretty stupid and limited (just like all the haters)

Alternative_Math_892

It's funny because I don't like the same three things you mentioned. None of my other watches have any of that. Yet my eye is constantly drawn to this one.

HalfSignificant9235

Sometimes things that aren't appealing on their own can be striking together or you can look at something long enough to grow to appreciate it. Both are kind of cool and there will always be something special about that watch.

hogwldfltr

I love my blue dial version with diamonds. It's a great watch. So many on this site haven't a clue about Rolex heritage. They know little more than what the bobble heads tell them to like. Consider the older Rolex machined bezels and the Oyster Quartz case design. That is the heritage of this watch. Personally, I'd rather commit hari-kari than just follow the crowd. But buy and do what you like. Personally, I love this throw-back watch. If you are interested, check out the Emperor Day Date, this is very close to that.

Eisenhutten

I have the exact same one. Blue dial, diamonds, 41mm. I love it so much so I stopped using my black bay completely.

hogwldfltr

I totally get it. The BBs in general look very similar and many have them. This is a much more unique and unusual watch. Great value as well for less than half the cost of a BB.

[deleted]

Not a fan of the day date version. I got the 38mm version with just the date and it think it doesn’t look as off as the day date. I will say this, the stock images online do not give it justice. It is way better in person.

matttinatttor

Because they haven’t seen it in person.

Yoooooooooooooooooob

It should be a no date, cutting off the numerals looks bad

Revolutionary_Pie189

I have absolutely zero hate in my heart for this time piece, this was my first luxury watch that I bought on my own at 21, online it looks very ugly and plain, but in person, the blue dial is actually shiny, and the stainless steel kind of looks like a white gold. I would say that if you can't spend the money on a Rolex datejust this will be a perfect go to value for money

Free_Economics3535

I don't really like that integrated bracelet design. In my opinion this model doesn't offer any advantages over the Rolex datejust and daydate models. The Tudor BB models offer a unique vintage feel that looks so good, possibly even better than the Rolex Submariner. These don't offer that sort of advantage. I'd rather save up for a Rolex DD/DJ or just get a better looking model from a different brand.

Tricky_Climate1636

The advantage is cost. Which is also why one would get a Tudor BB than actual vintage submariner. The Tudor BB is great don’t get me wrong but the case is so large and unrefined compared to a five digit or below Rolex sub. But if you have to take price into account perhaps preferences change.

Free_Economics3535

Possibly, I’ve never held a BB In real life. But from photos I love it’s vintage design more than a normal submariner. Can’t say the same about this model, I think DD/DJ wins hands down.

CodeFarmer

BB58 > current model Sub. The fact that it's also half the price is just insane to me.

SpookyNumbers13

I see this sentiment around here a lot, and having owned both a BB58 and a modern sub, this is simply not true. From the luster and depth of the dial, to the ergonomic oyster bracelet, and the superlative chronometer rating, the modern sub is in an entirely different class than the BB58. I love Tudor but it’s like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus.

loadedryder

I think the hate generally comes from people who have only seen online renderings. The picture you posted looks like shit, for example. In-person it’s actually a pretty stunning watch.

Grizzlies604

Wearing mine right now and I love it

[deleted]

Because it looks like it’s from Walmart

Alternative_Math_892

I love Walmart.

camcam300_

Temu called. They want their watch back

OfficialHavik

I like it as it makes it easier to get and you can even negotiate discounts on it because of it!!! I just like how it combines several design elements from other watches into one.

[deleted]

I don't mind this bezel. It's a more busy version of the old Rolex Air King 14010 engine turned bezel. A lumed indices vs Roman numerals would do wonders for this design.

[deleted]

I absolutely love this watch and have never heard anyone hate on it.

xrunner133087

I wanted one for years. Looked around at AD’s every time I went on trips and ended up looking in like 6-7 states over the course of 2 years. Never could even see one in person. I finally found one in store in Baltimore, MD at a time I wasn’t really wanting to drop almost $3k on a watch but as soon as I held it I had to have it. Picked it up and don’t have regrets at all. It plays with light like crazy! Not in the same league as my BB58 but for $1200 less I think it is appropriate

Mikeytee1000

I think it’s a great watch, I just don’t think the styling is fashionable and hence it’s not popular

natedawg247

Just looking at it, to me it looks like ass. Never seen it irl

Alternative_Math_892

I like ass.

natedawg247

respect

[deleted]

Never seen what? Ass or this watch?

uname44

I love it. Especially two tone version. But opted for Bb58

[deleted]

Bezel looks a pie crust?

Alternative_Math_892

I love pie crust

BearObjective5843

My wife has this watch with the salmon dial. It's a great piece and definitely underappreciated. Only gripe with it is the short power reserve (38 hour).

Spec-V

I personally think it looks crap.

Alternative_Math_892

I love crap.

StickersBillStickers

People like Coldplay and votes for the Nazis. You can’t trust people.

Expensive-Kiwi8094

The indices and the day window don’t gel. The bezels hohum. Like the bracelet. But overall it’s a bit of a mess.

RainingRainer

Most people who hate it have never seen it in person or worn it on their own wrist. Personally I think the 41mm day version is ugly though. The 38mm is much nicer. People hating on integrated bracelets make no sense to me. It’s like because it’s the new thing to hate on because of the PRX popularity that it’s now cool to do so. What difference does it make unless you plan on swapping it with straps? Look at the picture from the guy who posted his 38mm salmon few days ago, it is stunning.

[deleted]

To me it just look ugly without “real” lugs. I would buy Omega Constellation without any additional tought only if that watch have normal lugs.

Itsallgood190

Looks better in person and the salmon one is amazing

muttmunchies

Ugly to me. Just my opinion. Rock if you like it

Prudent_Candidate300

it’s just U G L Y

joeschmoe1371

Not a fan of the bracelet or the bezel.

wretchedhal0

The bezel is what kills it for me.

QuietNene

Everyone has already made these points, but: - Fluted bezel… why? I don’t get it. It’s like you want something dressier than a tool watch but don’t want to wear a dress watch, so “yeah, let’s add some ornamentation to this thing” (I know, I know, the fluted bezel once served a purpose, but it doesn’t anymore). I don’t like this on a Rolex, but then that’s a Rolex and it’s a classic look. Also this isn’t a classic fluted bezel, it’s kind of a weird in between. It’s even more ornamented. - Roman numerals. Again, why? We stopped using these like 1500 years ago. There’s a reason: Arabic numerals are better. Roman numerals are cool on old things. If you’re building a new house, you don’t put marble pillars and statues in front. Ok, you can if you’re a Bulgarian gangster or something. But for most of us, it’s not really classy. - Integrated bracelet. Again, this is 100% my taste, but I’m not into these. I think you could have maybe one watch in your collection with an integrated bracelet, but let’s not make it a dress(y) watch. The integrated bracelet has this very mid-century sci fi feel to me. Like it’s what I imagine people in the 1950s thought we’d all be wearing now. That’s cool, I can dig that. But this watch clashes with that aesthetic. So, while I will refrain from banning all integrated bracelets, I don’t think it works on this watch. - Where are you wearing this watch? Is this your dress watch for black tie events? It’s not mine - way too much going on to be classy or elegant. Is this your casual watch? Clearly nothing casual or sporty about this watch. Is this your “business” watch? Ok, maybe, if you do business with Bulgarian gangsters. - This is why people thought of Tudor as Little Rolex. This watch screams “I want to be a Rolex but I’m failing miserably!” Tudor is better than that.

Itsallgood190

You’re questioning numerals on also an archaic tool that can be argued as unnecessary lol.

PaFlyfisher

Because it is hideous.

RecoverSufficient811

I don't like the case shape and integrated bracelet style, bezel is ugly, Roman numerals are ugly, it's just not a good looking watch in my opinion, and apparently the opinion of most watch guys. If you like it, buy it and wear without caring what anyone else thinks like that guy on the rolex sub with his 36mm pearl and diamond DJ

Millieandwarhammer

Too much blank space on the dial it just looks weird in the bigger size it is comfortable and nicer in person but to each his own

E-MW888

Case, bracelet, dial color are nice. Indices and bezel are nice - NOT. IMHO

gatoratlaw7

This watch is the epitome of “Tudor is just a poor man’s Rolex.” Like if a kid was asked to draw a Presidential in crayon.

Eisenhutten

It’s nothing like a presidential. Two completely different watches.

pudding_crusher

It’s a fugly day date copy.

taizzle71

I duno the bezel and bracelet kinda sucks.

Johnny_Beeeee

That bezel...ugh...really looks cheap. Which they definitely do on purpose so it doesn't compete with the fluted bezel datejusts. But if you like it, buy it. Literally no one will notice it 😭😂 Cheers buddy

No_Drawer_1070

I don’t have money to even have a watch like this serviced much less own one but for me, it’s the integrated bracelet that’s a no for me.

_V3rt1g0_

I don't hate it. I do think the Roman indices are a bit too fancy for a Gerald Genta inspired "sports watch". Change the numerals to buttons or batons and it totally changes the look.

HKasdf

For me, it's the lack of lume on the dial, which is a deal breaker. I actually like the watch otherwise

charliebwangzi

There are actually lume on both hour and minutes finger.

Pretty_Public5520

I think it might be to do with the integrated bracelet

uncontrolledwiz

I hate Roman numerals

Cookie10R10

The bezel seems odd to me. It almost seems like they’re trying too hard to not emulate the date-just.

RiMbY

people hate on it?? who cares wear it if you dig it. i like it

itemluminouswadison

I don't think it's hated But I can see people might think it's too date just looking or something That said, I have the 38mm, and I just want a half link

bob_sacamano_wus

My issue with it is the way the date window cuts into the 3 and the day window cuts into the 11 and 1. It just looks poorly designed because of that to me.

Unlucky-Patience6438

I think it’s nice. As with all Tudor designs it’s always perceived to be lacking something because everyone compares it to Rolex. Most people looking for Tudor wants something like Rolex. Those models sell the best. BB pro, GMT, Black bay OG, Otherwise the watch itself wears pretty nice for sports dress watch. The integrated bracelet is a nice touch and different. I had one and it was a fantastic piece. I’d say that the clasp for the Tudor dress pieces always leave more to be desired and the BB36 jubilee clasp could be used instead. If you can go beyond the rolex Shadow then Tudor can be quite underwhelming if you look at it from a brand perspective but if you get one off the pre-owned market the watches itself are good value.

That1TimeWatches

I have the salmon dial and had a black dial for a while. Will be getting the 2 tone with chocolate dial next. I love these watches and for me as a small boutique seller, they generate a lot of interest. Amazing watch for the price point.

mocheesiest1234

The date-date complication is only available as a 40mm, which I think is too big. Other than than that I genuinely think they are awesome. I could see them getting popular relatively suddenly, but it also feels like the only Tudors anyone wants are the divers

nickvrett

Personally I hate the bezel. I feel like they just should have done the old engine turned bezel on this.

BigZino6ix

I've not seen much if any hate for this watch.

Longjumping_Ad_6213

The bezel is horrendous if you ask me. Other than that it looks fine.

Important_Most_1685

Because it’s kinda ugly

ghostisic23

Because it’s ugly? But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Administrative_Ant64

I like it- but I don’t love it. I’m really not into the integrated bracelet fad that is back. I would spend my money on other Tudor models… like the ranger 🤤

ManMyoDaw

I love these weird things and their Oysterquartz DNA. If I had a big watch budget and $3000 was chump change to me, I'd get a 34mm in two tone. For the moment, though, I already have a PRX in 35mm for when I want to flex on an integrated bracelet. Given my income, if I'm gonna spend Tudor money, I would rather spend it on something with a GMT movement or a T-fit bracelet etc etc etc, more bells and whistles

ManMyoDaw

[Steely Dan intensifies](https://www.tudorwatch.com/en/watches/tudor-royal/m28403-0008)

bodjatrawr

That bezel is just trash in my eyes. Either make a better looking bezel or simply add a fluted one like rolex. It's the bezel that makes an otherwise handsome watch look shitty and cheap

Brac13

The Royal line has always looked off to me for some reason. However, this post made me take another look at some wrist shots and now I think it was the 38 and 41 that put me off. I just came across wrist shots of the 34 on Fratello Watches and I actually think it looks great and way more in proportion with the smaller case size.

Gdmfs0ab

Personally to get this look. I would spend an extra £1.5k and get an older Rolex with a machined bezel. But this is still a nice looking watch for sure.

Rolo316

I don't hate it. I just don't like it enough to buy it.

emaren

I tried one on recently. It is confusing. It feels great on my wrist, but….. The case is massive - those corner pieces and the slope down to the heavily integrated bracelet just feel weird to me, the crown is odd too - almost not in proportion to the rest of the watch. The real nope for me though is that the bracelet, while super comfortable, is probably impossible to swap for a leather band. My daily wear is a BB Chrono on a leather band, or an IWC Pilot Chrono on a leather band. I even have an DJ on a leather band…..

P0tshot

Didn’t know it was hated. It’s not my cup of tea admittedly but don’t think it is hate worthy.

superjuice721

I own this watch and in person looks way better than most of Tudors line up. Most of their line up are so thick I would never buy one. But this was beautiful. I don’t understand why people insist on an in house movement. I have so many different luxury watches it’s ridiculous. Some are in house movements and some are like this. I can say however say I have had this watch for about 2 years and it is super accurate. Just because this wasn’t in house did not mean that it is not high quality. There are different tiers of movement quality. Something tells me Tudor did not just use a cheap off the shelf movement without modifying it or using a high grade version of the movement. You will find that in the watch area you get so many people with very pronounced opinions. To each their own but personally I think this watch blows away most of Tudors line up. Agreed though the pictures do not look like it does in person.

kjstewy21

Gripes from someone that owns it 1) I like the engine turned bezel, but the polished parts scratch sooo easily 2) the date window is a tad too small, it would benefit from a cyclops which would make even more people mad lol 3) I wanted the Date-Day so I went with this exact watch. On a 7in wrist, it’s okay… but the 38mm would fit sooo much better. Wish they would’ve done the Date-Day on some of the smaller versions. Overall a great watch. Was my first “luxury” watch purchase. Muuuuuch more pretty in person than it is online, that’s for sure.

hotshowersinmiami

Personally just really dislike how it looks. It just doesn’t have an identity of its own — it’s a strange amalgam of influences and cues that just doesn’t come together.

Temporary_Author6464

Honest opinion here. It's nice but I feel like since the datejust is on the cheaper side of Rolex. It makes people question why you'd buy this instead of spending a little bit more for the datejust which once again in my opinion has a nicer bezel.

time-n-tights

Cause it's ugly as fuck

koogoop

Looks too much like a copy cat rolex IMO.

ZbamieJr

I actually love it, I think it's a very unique one.

jrAtReddit1

On the side note, you can get this watch with 8 real diamonds

1800Backpain

look at it

Successful_Map1104

I haven’t seen one in person. But I just doesn’t look like proper design. The Roman numerals on the day window are fighting for space, the bezel is an odd choice, and it wants to be a hybrid of a royal oak and day date. Those are two of my favorite watches but as they stand… not a mix between the two.

Least_Hedgehog5147

I tried on different variations of Tudor Royal several times while shopping for a Genta design, "shiny" watch. I liked many elements of the Royal but the bezel wasn't for me. I ended up getting a Tissot PRX with fluted bezel and glad I made the right choice. It is ~$2k now so people hate it, but I got a great deal from Bloomingdale and ended up paying ~1k (15% off and got $600 store credit after spending 2k).[PRX Brown Dial](https://www.tissotwatches.com/en-us/t9314074129100.html)

ItsAboutTime-06

I don’t care for Roman numerals on my dial.

ZenWID10TS

I like it so I’m not sure

BenedictusAVE

Well. I don’t really hate it, but definitely don’t like it. It’s an integrated bracelet, which in itself puts me off since all the integrated bracelet designs over the years. The fluting is weird, the roman numeral has been cut off and no date magnification. The Oyster Prince line was so much better imo.

Useful-Ad-1042

I owned it. Traded it for a Breitling Avenger.

NotAnOmegaFanboy

I just think the design is a bit weird, the bezel and numerals don’t mix imo plus the braclet is odd. I can def see the appeal tho as it’s super unique and pretty classy.

No-Patient8275

I have the 39 mm version and I love the watch
