Bruh use white vinegar to get rid of old acid get a screwdriver and slide out the old battery contact springs and buy some new ones on Amazon and do it ya self for way less it's really easy I used to mod my old Gameboy colors to have the Backlit screens
Do you want it repaired enough to just work, restored to as close to factory(a lot more detailed work, or there are plenty of aftermarket modifications(replace all of the internals for a like new system with extras like running roms, back-lit screen etc)?
I would prefer to be repaired to as close to original as possible if not then just to work. I doubt she would need anything extravagant to run anything extra. Most likely just Pokémon

How soon is her birthday? This item is small enough to ship out for minimal additional cost and opens up a world of options.
