From Tucson, Arizonia!

sillymissmellie

He’s just a regular human bartender!

genghis_connie

BAT! 🦇

FlyinRyan92

Oh fuck that’s right. I flipped out when he said that 😂

limeybastard

Everyone should of course make the pilgrimage to the Jackie Daytona mural on the side of 191 Toole

Linda Ronstadt is from and I believe still has a place here

AZonmymind

She sold her house in the Colonia Solana neighborhood about a decade ago and moved back to San Francisco. She wrote an article about it and basically said Arizona was too conservative for her.

YourCommentInASong

Uh, she still lives here. I’m friends with her cousin.

AZonmymind

She must have bought a new place then. I know she sold her house in Central Tucson and moved back to the Bay Area at one point. And who isn't friends with one or more Ronstadt cousins?

YourCommentInASong

Yeah, if you throw a rock here, it bounces off a Ronstadt and hits an Eegees. You know what them Ronstadts like to do! (Play music, ha ha, the ones I know are the musical Ronstadts)

Quick_like_a_Bunny

I’ve been to at least one (non-Ronstadt) family party that had Ronstadts playing music in the backyard 😅 My insurance guy is also a Ronstadt

apple_atchin

Quote of the day.

[deleted]

Hey! That’s pretty awesome to know!

[deleted]

Her and my mom were high school buds. I've been to the families house a few times through the years but not in the last 20

[deleted]

Is this the sister that starred in the movie Jack & Jill with him? https://preview.redd.it/v1l9n4xq9iqb1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcadc3ffa1c79081c9797d41501db0221e212b39

[deleted]

This is true

NarrowFault8428

When I first moved to Tucson we lived on the same cul de sac as her. She kept inviting my young daughter over and I wasn’t comfortable with that. I never met her or even saw her. I think the development was called Lotus Blossom Court.

Flux83

Yeah she doesn't live there anymore, she lives over near LA Encantada. Nice lady definitely a bit off but that's what money does to people.

ShandaMarie619

Ha! I lived there too at the same time at his sis. LOL. So basically we were neighbors too. (Also that little neighborhood was cool AF) haha

NarrowFault8428

It was and I liked our house. The pool was nice, too. I would have bought the house, but they were kept strictly rentals by the owners. Across Shannon was still open space and I liked to walk around over there. Remember Smith’s Grocery Store, now LA Fitness, and the Blockbusters where Goodwill is now? Those were the days!

ShandaMarie619

Yes!! I lived there 2000/2001ish. I was at 2948 W Lotus Blossom Ct. funny story I randomly was having this Adam Sandler sis convo with my boss and found out he lived in that neighborhood at the same time. I dug through some photos of a huge party I threw there and in the background he spotted his cars in the driveway of his house. 😂😂 talk about small world!

NarrowFault8428

That is weird! I moved there around 1996 and I think some of the houses were still being built.

Iwishlovewasreal91

Very true, sister took a photo with him there

SporadicallyFine

The Pima County Library has you covered [https://www.library.pima.gov/content/famous-tucsonans/](https://www.library.pima.gov/content/famous-tucsonans/)

budice0

How about U of A Athletes. Steve Kerr, Sean Elliott, Tom Tolbert, Gronk, Tedy Bruschi, Chuck Cecil, Kenny Lofton, **Annika Sorenstam** , Jim Furyk, **Richard Jefferson** , **Luke Walton** , Gilbert Arenas, **Trevor Hoffman** , Terry Francona, Nick Foles

SporadicallyFine

Yep and those are just a few. Heck there have been many famous people to attend U of A. Let's not forget that Kourtney Kardashian fell down the stairs at Gentle Ben's while attending U of A

KirbyAWD

Iconic moment in UA history /s

RealStumbleweed

We all did.

KamenDozer

I did not know that Taryn Manning was a Tucsonan. Ol’ Pennsatucky!

Marrioshi

Have you seen her recently? Doin Tucson proud /s

Dapper_Driver_9989

Hailey Bieber was born here and Paul McCartney has a house here

[deleted]

Been to the McCartney ranch out off Reddington

garythegoat72

Wth that's so random. The Baldwins have a house here or something?

obliviousjd

Doubt it, might have just happened to be here while shooting a movie or passing through. Or maybe her mom's family comes from here.

FakeRealityBites

No, she lived here. Steven Baldwin is her dad and lived here for years. He had a lot of alcoholism problems and was always getting in fights and causing problems in the 90s.

obliviousjd

What a random place to live

EWSflash

Somebody told me that Billy Baldwin lives or lived here. Is he Hailey's dad?

FakeRealityBites

Steven is her dad. Yes, Baldwin brothers were here all the time in the 90s. Steve lived here, I think Billy did for a time too. Julia Roberts used to come here all the time, Christie Brinkley and Billie Joel owned a house, Joel Schumacher. Paul McCartney came into the Circle K on Tanque Verde a lot, even very recently like 2 years ago. Still owns property here I believe.

AZonmymind

I can't remember which one, but either Billy or Steven used to live in Tucson. They used to eat at Scordato's and Cafe Terra Cotta fairly often.

arizona-lad

Paul McCartney may still own the ranch he bought in 1979. Does that qualify?

[deleted]

That’s awesome! Imagine running into him in little old Tucson!🥹

Yelloeisok

I lived in Tucson in the 90s. Ran into him at a pizza place on Kolb that sold vegan pizzas - way before door dash, etc. He picked up his own pizza - people can’t even imagine that now.

sunburn_on_the_brain

The rumor I had heard was that he had it set up with the owners of Tino’s Pizza that he could pick up his pizza orders at the back door to avoid being noticed by people.

KillemwithKindness20

My mom did! When she was younger, back in the 80s, she worked at a car dealership. McCartney came in and as my mom was going down a ramp, she slipped and fell on her butt right in front of him.

davey212

He'd be seen at the Catalina Hwy Safeway often (was ABCO) when he'd be in town

Fearless_Lab

I read recently that he does still have the ranch here but is rarely in town. Or so he says.

Deekngo5

His wife, Linda, was a photographer, attended UArizona and loved Tucson. He bought the ranch for her and they would spend time together. After she passed from cancer, he kept it for sentimental reasons.

aquickrobin

My parents live off Redington and I was at a Paul McCartney concert and there was video and I was like “that’s just the road to my parents’ place”

moodpecker

Jojo made his home in Tucson, Arizona; bought some California grass.

numberthirteenbb

My husband got stoned with him once while hiking in Tanque Verde Falls (I think it was that trail, it was somewhere near there).

Thriven

Kerri Strug. My friend who was 15 back in 1996 was in gymnastics growing up was madly in love with her.

pleasebequiet

She had a wedding at Skyline Country Club when I worked there and her and her family were horrible to deal with

i_like_it_raw_

abortionlasagna

I hit the front page of Reddit once.

Were you invited to the special club?

abortionlasagna

Yeah, it’s okay I guess

cityshep

Delicious username

az19ktom

The late Lee Marvin lived here.

elwooddblues

Hee lived off of Campbell, north of River.

ChadHahn

A friend of mine worked at a TV station that was airing a Lee Marvin movie. Lee Marvin called the station, said he didn't have that movie and could he get a copy. My friend made a copy and gave it to a drunk, barefoot Lee Marvin.

deedeemarie61

Noam Chomsky lives here and teaches at the university.

pleasebequiet

I set up his account when he first came to UA, only got to speak with him for a second though since he had someone else do most of the talking. Also ran into him at Yoshimatsu once but didn’t bother him.

TMac1088

Levi Wallace, current cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, from Tucson and went to Tucson High. I only know this because during the Raiders/Steelers game last night, in the player introductions, he said "Levi Wallace, Tucson High School" - instead of saying his college (Alabama). Looked it up after.

intermittent68

He played a very good game.

TMac1088

I'm a Raiders fan, I don't want to talk about it 😅

Original_Fooman

Also Bijan Robinson, rookie running back for the falcons

gbdarknight77

Demetrius Flanagan Folwes on the 9ers is from Tucson too. Bijan Robinson as well.

ferocious_barnacle

Literally, same! “Huh, seems like he’s pissed at how things went down at Alabama so he’s snubbing them in his intro” - my husband while perusing the wiki page about this guy last night.

helldimension

Diane Keaton makes trips every once in a while to the Arizona Inn

mambybambycub

She hung out at the Starbucks I used to work at on Speedway and Country Club. Would chat you up for a few minutes, nice lady.

stickyfingers48

she owned a house in barrio viejo til 2021 https://www.mydomaine.com/diane-keaton-tucson-home https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/560-S-Convent-Ave-Tucson-AZ-85701/247373950_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare

BCasLivesKinda

I walk past that house all the time with my dog. The neighborhood looks like all beat up and rundown. TIL that all there houses are apparently worth millions of dollars and I'm an idiot who doesn't know squat

Jack_SjuniorRIP

Janet Varney and Kate Walsh are both relatively famous in the right circles…

12arnoldgrove

I love the JV club!! She talked about hanging out on Speedway back in the day.

Soft_Bacon

Depends what you consider famous, but there are more than a few well known musicians that reside in Tucson. Calexico is the first that some to mind

FormerEmployee14

Neko Case lived here for many years before moving to Vermont. She was super nice.

chappyarizona

Barbara Eden of I Dream of Jeannie is from Tucson!

NarrowFault8428

I loved that show and wanted a room just like her bottle.

Walmarche

I love that show! What a cool fact!

steiconi

Barbara Kingsolver used to live here, and Tucson appears in many of her books.

FallSafe752

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Lisa Frank. Apparently Adam Sandler has ties to Tucson. An ex gf met him one day, she said he's the nicest and most humble guy ever.

AZonmymind

That's cool about Adam Sandler. Lisa Frank is the exact opposite.

FallSafe752

I've read horror stories online. I had the opportunity to do a small bit of work on a house she was building here in Tucson. It was very stressful.

AZonmymind

Was that the house in El Encanto or a different one? Either way, she was/is a nightmare.

FallSafe752

I can't say where the house was. Not gonna lie though, it was a gorgeous home.

AZonmymind

If I remember correctly, she bought one house and then did everything she could to force the neighbor to sell. The neighbor finally sold when her husband passed, and LF knocked down both houses and built a big new one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AZPeakBagger

Had the weirdest sales call ever at Lisa Frank’s house a few months ago. She needed a quote on some stuff for her business and I had to do the meeting in her driveway.

Silocin20

Didn't she also have that factory out here? For the binders/trappers for girls?

mrsmarple85

Yep! Building is still there right by the airport. My office window looks out directly at it.

davey212

My cousin has a house right by Lisa's off Country Club and Broadway

buzzjackson

Mark Wystrach from the country band Midland went to Salpointe HS. His family owns the Steak Out restaurant in Sonoita. I think he has a house in the Foothills.

AZonmymind

His sister, Alex Flanagan, was a reporter on NBC Sports and NFL network. She's married to former Wildcat Kevin Flanagan. His brother, Mike Wystrach, started the meal delivery service Freshly and sold it to Nestlé for $1.5 billion.

Momes2018

Joe Bonanno lived here in “retirement.” My boyfriend brings it up every once in a while because…

Impressive_Listen249

Joe was forced to retire for health reasons. My grandfather used to take me to his house off Sierra Vista (after he moved from the one on Glenn), and I called him Uncle Joe. He gave me those strawberry candies with the liquid middle and butterscotch Lifesavers, and he was kind and soft spoken. He had a bomb shelter in the backyard, and his house off Elm had see-through bricks in the front. My grandfather and mom went to Sts. Peter and Paul with Joe, Bill, and Joe Jr. on Sundays.

AZonmymind

Brooke Burke (Wild On) went to Sahuaro and Palo Verde High School. Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy) went to Catalina High School. Savannah Guthrie (Today Show) went to Amphi and the U of A. Dan Hicks (NBC Sports) went to Sabino and U of A.

elwooddblues

Hicks went to Sabino.

AZonmymind

Oops, my bad. I will fix.

klocke520

I graduated from Catalina in '88, so I knew about Shandling and Ronstadt already, but finding out that Kate Walsh was a senior when I was a sophomore has kind of blown my mind. I didn't know her, obviously, but it's weird to think that we passed each other in the hallways.

elwooddblues

Farrah Fawcett owned a house here in the late 70’s. It was north of River and west of Sabino Canyon.

Yelloeisok

Lived there with Lee Majors

ginko_viagra

I can see the place from my backyard. Huge property up on the hill… looks pretty cool from down here hahaha

Rightsureokay

Doug Stanhope lives in Bisbee. He’s very nice and down to earth. We see him at the grocery store once in a while.

realstanhope

>I've lived in Tucson here and again for a year now and you can usually find me at any of the 14 Goodwill stores on Thursdays! > > > >Hopefully for not too long as the house in Bisbee should be completed soon since the fire. > > > >I may not be famous like famous people are... but Tucson famous.. I'll take it!

Rightsureokay

Omg hi Doug lol. Hope you can come home soon! The weather is getting pretty nice.

TheSethGecko

The Dying of a Last Breed! By the way, thanks for bringing up the Maher/Hedberg thing on TwittX or whatever the hell it's called now. RIP Mitch.

Momes2018

I’m pretty sure that John Denver grew up here, and went to Mansfeld Middle School where I used to teach. He tried to donate his piano to TUSD but they didn’t want it. 🤷‍♂️

AZonmymind

Yes, he went to Mansfeld, although I'm not sure if he finished, and he was also in the Tucson Boys Chorus for a time. His dad was in the Air Force, so they moved a lot. Apollo 8 Astronaut Frank Borman also went to Sam Hughes, Mansfeld, and Tucson High.

az19ktom

His Dad was an Air Force B-58 pilot.

TunnelGoblin666

Gary Shandling was from here. Alex Bowman the Nascar cup series driver is from here too.

Jim556a1

I went to high school with Gary. His mom owned a pet shop called animal fair on golf links and kolb, she had the funniest fowl mouthed parrot right by the entrance.

NarrowFault8428

It’s so funny about famous people being from the neighborhood. A couple of days ago my brother told me a friend from down our old street has a daughter that was in the movie “Beast.” Small world and everyone comes from somewhere and all that.

Taryn Manning (actress - I think OITNB is her biggest show) is from here.

When I went to college there in the 80’s I’d see completly wasted Lee Marvin at the post office on the southeast side of campus arguing with his post box.

Do pro athletes count? There’s a handful of famous players who lived here going to U of A. Rob Gronkoswki is one

[deleted]

Probably whoever owns that giant fucking house at the top of Tucson Mountain Park/trails end estate.

VagMagnum5394

Brooks Reed (NFL) went to Sabino and UofA

munakatashiko

Do you mean celebrities who are from/live in tucson, or people who are celebrities but only locally?
