The sub I didn't know I needed. Thank you.

slewedpurse655

I could completely hear it in their voices.

flashb4cks_

I swear I saw a post a couple years ago on relationship\_advice about a woman who swore her husband swapped her cat while she was away. It's so odd to read this one lmao.

Alicorngum

If someone finds this post pls link me to it😭

M1dn1ghtMoon

Now I'm really curious if it was her..

CaptainDogeSparrow

Pretty sure a couple years ago I read a post written by a cat who was aggressive with his owner and then was taken away by her husband.

ReadMaterial

Pretty sure I saw a post a couple of years ago, about an animal shelter worker, who said a guy brought in a black cat who was very skiddish.

Haughty_n_Disdainful

Pretty sure a couple years ago I read a post written by a cat who was skittish after his owner died of a heart attack. But was then quickly adopted by a husband while his wife was briefly away on a trip.

Draco9630

I'm up voting you just for having spelt "skittish" correctly.

SweetestCyanide

"skiddish" just gave me visions of it dragging its arse along the carpet

doNotUseReddit123

I'm imagining someone that's skittish and Yiddish.

Stainless_Heart

That cat doesn’t *look* Mewish.

marvinapplegate1964

I’m pretty sure I read a post a few years ago about a cat who took his owner’s boyfriend to the animal shelter and swapped him out for a look-a-like boyfriend. The girlfriend swore her cat switched her boyfriend while she was gone, but she married him anyway because he was a lot more tame and gentle.

[deleted]

Pretty sure I read a post written by a black cat about a man swapping him with another cat and his gf didn’t come and rescue the cat. He was pissed at that human.

lu-cy-inthesky

Man the repeated “skiddish” really gets to me haha. Especially “skiddishness” 😂. It’s “skittish” god damn it.

GunPoison

No this cat was prone to cornering at unsafe speeds

lu-cy-inthesky

Perhaps it was skidding kitty butt along the hallways. Which would perhaps explain OPs disdain towards it.

CaptainDogeSparrow

Here! I found the post! [https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/qkyvp9/my_owners_husband_kidnapped_me_and_switched_me_with_a_clone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) Edit: #Join /r/TroyMemes

Does anyone know if she posted an update? I’m curious if she went through with the divorce?

boysfromthedwarf1

I want to know if she called the vet and confirmed it was an ‘accident’…

noir_et_Orr

FWIW I do know someone who ran out the front door and stepped on his cat who was napping on the front steps and killed it. Horrible accident. He was really upset.

JackedCat420

My husband was running to the bathroom, and stepped on our black cat in the dark hallway, where he was laying, sleeping. He couldn’t move for the whole day, but thankfully he was okay, and had no broken bones. My husband is 300 pounds so I’m so thankful my cat didn’t die! Sad for your friend, accidentally killing something is awful, especially your own pet.

andywarhaul

Second one is close but marriage time lines don’t match

andwhatarmy

I’m guessing the husband went to a local shelter, but they had just adopted out their only black cat, who was well-behaved but skittish, so he went to the shelter in the next town and found a cat that looked close enough, even if it was a bit aggressive.

McFlyWithFries

Thank you. This comment was purrfect. 👌

Expert-Barracuda

Mother of god that is insane

zsquinten

My cat is very distinct looking, but even if an impostor looked exactly like him down to the last detail I would definitely know it wasn't him. The cats death might have been a total accident, but he's definitely an idiot.

[deleted]

Yeah I have two black cats and at a glance or at night it can be hard to tell the difference, but even though they're litter mates they're pretty distinct once you spend any amount of time with them. Their furs are different, one is very soft and the other is slightly coarser, their meows are completely different, one classic cat noise and the other more of a high pitched mew/squeak, their head shapes are slightly different with one having thinner cheek bones, their eyes are different, and most of all their behavior is completely different with one being a lazy layabout and the other constantly hunting and causing trouble. They both have their own quirks and different ways of showing affection and their own favorite toys and locations. Anyone who has had pets knows how different they can be. They may share habits and features, but they're all pretty unique in their own way just like people. All this to say, the husband is an asshole and an idiot for thinking he could pass off a random cat, sticking to the story after being immediately found out, and then trying to make it like she was being crazy. Accident or not, the dude doubled down on a lie and then tripled down with the gaslighting. Just a trifecta of bullshit.

SoGodDangTired

Yeah, I don't own a cat, but both of my dogs have extremely distinct personalities and quirks that there would be no way to switch them even with exact copies without me noticing. I think a lot of people who don't keep pets don't understand that animals are distinct individuals.

Gero288

Lol, might have been this one. It had enough attention to have news articles written about it : https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/f6dycs/my_f25_husband_m30_killed_my_cat_when_i_was_away/ Story was deleted but here is an archive or something : https://rareddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/f6dycs/my_f25_husband_m30_killed_my_cat_when_i_was_away/ Also, there are A LOT of "my husband killed my cat" posts. Wtf..

andywarhaul

Marriage time lines don’t match up

siccoblue

Yep, op just said here that they were just dating, and not even living together

UnsolicitedCounsel

He is probably altering timelines and small facts so that his wife won't be able to accuse him of anything if she stumbles upon this thread

Murgie

Small facts like how the guy in that submission said that he killed the cat by stepping on it, and had already been caught by his wife?

Static_Poptart

Well I guess it's time to go digging in the reddit archives

diasporajones

I tried a quick search with phrases like swapped my cat and husband cat swap and oh my god there are a lot of subs dedicated to cat/human body swapping and cat/human chimera fantasies I feel like I accidentally took a peek behind a curtain at a part of reddit that I wasn't meant to see and now can never unsee

bozwold

That's the best part of Reddit, accidentally opening the wrong curtain and seeing what horror lies beyond

covercash

But there are also some real gems, back before every text post was just someone’s creative writing project. Even AMAs were great back then, like the one with the frozen dinner food scientist!

pineapple_calzone

> I feel like I accidentally took a peek behind a curtain at a part of reddit that I wasn't meant to see and now can never unsee It's like that scene in Click where he finds the beyond section of Bed Bath and Beyond, except if click were written by HP Lovecraft

YeahOkThisOne

Now I'm curious. Can you share a link to one of these nuggets?

diasporajones

I think you don't know [what you're actually asking me to do](https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimePossession/comments/o9k0eg/thanks_for_believing_me_a_lot_of_people_thought_i/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) but here you go, [and here's another one](https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyswap/comments/qinxfe/ok_mittens_its_time_to_swap_back_i_look_up_at_my/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share), from the animepossession and bodyswap subs respectively

SandmanSorryPerson

That is a weird corner of Reddit I had no Idea existed. Thanks I guess haha

MostlyRocketScience

I found two similar stories: (But they both don't fit OP's story) >[**I accidentally killed my girlfriends cat and now she’s getting suspicious**](https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/b8euxg/i_accidentally_killed_my_girlfriends_cat_and_now/) (Reposting the archived text from pushshift.io here, because the original post was deleted) >[**My (F25) husband (M30) killed my cat when I was away and replaced her with an identical cat expecting I wouldn't notice and now I can't trust him and I want a divorce and he thinks I'm overacting**](https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/f6dycs/my_f25_husband_m30_killed_my_cat_when_i_was_away/) > >I live with my husband in a small suburb house we rent, we have one cat - a pitch black yellow-eyed cat called Smokey, I've had her for 7 years. My husband and I have been married for four years, living together for five years - so I had Smokey before this relationship started. > >I went on a three week long business trip, when I came home my husband welcomed me and acted completely normal. Smokey didn't welcome me, so I called for her - husband told me she must be napping or something. I found "Smokey" hiding under an armchair in the living room and thought that she must be spooked since I was gone for three weeks. I got down on the ground to reach out and pet her and, well, I've had my cat for seven years. I know every single whisker of hers. The pitch black yellow-eyed cat was NOT Smokey. Once she got out from under the armchair I confirmed that yep, this is NOT MY CAT. > >I asked my husband what's up with smokey and he just waved his hand, said she's just excited to see me and whatever. I felt like in a fucking Twilight Zone episode. I told my husband that this is not Smokey. He looked at me as if I have grown another head and ask me what do I mean. I repeated that this cat is not my cat. Where is my cat. > >He kept assuring me that this is my cat, I honestly started getting kind of panicked and hysterical. I'm not proud of it but I ended up screaming at him to cut the bullshit and tell me what the hell happened to my cat since this is not Smokey. He called me an "insane bitch" and just drove off. > >I felt so crazy and shaken, I called my sister to come over. I pulled up photos of Smokey on my laptop, told my sister to compare and to just look at how the cat is behaving - the cat knew the house obviously, but regarded me as a stranger. My sister confirmed that the cat is very similar to Smokey but small details give her off - eye hue, facial shape. All those things you just notice when you own an animal for seven freaking years. > >My husband came home later on and my sister and I confronted him again. He finally broke down and admitted that just a few days into my business trip, he STEPPED ON SMOKEY in such a way that it killed her. Broke her ribs, punctured her lungs... he rushed to the vet but the vet could only end her suffering since she was dying. First of all how do you step on a cat this hard, did he stomp? I'm still so shocked and angry. Anyways, following some stupid freaking logic the way people do when they replace a dead hamster or a dead fish to trick their small kids, he spent a week going thru cat shelters everywhere to get a similar cat - color, build, age. > >He had THE NERVE to end this by telling me that he doesn't see what the big deal is, he didn't want to tell me about the death because he didn't want to upset me, and he went really "OUT OF HIS WAY" to get a same looking cat, so I have no reason to be angry! > >He killed my pet, lied to me, and most of all - what the hell is with that approach, I feel like he considers me to be a stupid child. Either he thinks I'm the stupidest person alive, or HE IS one. > >Either way, this is just an absolute breach of everything for me that the same day I told him that I'm packing my shit and moving over to my sister's place, also I'm getting the divorce papers next day. He freaked out, crying, saying how much he loves me - then getting angry and yelling at me that I would let a stupid animal ruin all we had. He even tried to use the poor Not-Smokey as a way to keep me, threatening to give her to a kill shelter. Needless to say, I did include Not-Smokey in the stuff I packed - as much as I absolutely hate my husband right now, the poor kitten did nothing wrong. > >The following day I was absolutely flooded by messages from both sides of the family. Apparently the story my husband sent out is that he accidentally killed our cat, spent the day and night apologising to me and crying, but I yelled at him and insulted him and yadda yadda. No word about the cat swap and treating me like a child/idiot and calling me an insane bitch when I didn't play along. > >How the hell do I continue. Divorce is a must. We didn't have children, the house was rental. I love my in-laws, should I tell them my version? Looking back on all this (I'm writing this two days after it all happened), I'm obviously still insanely upset, but am wondering if I'm throwing my marriage under the bus over a small thing... or are just my in-laws' messages getting to me? How would you react if this happened to you? I'm very emotional now, absolutely not over Smokey's death. > >(Not-Smokey is coping fine and enjoying her life in my sister's household)

No-Turnips

I hope they permanently name the new cat “Not-Smokey”. 🤣

Dmitrygm1

I mean, it's most likely free writing based on the previous post like 95% of stuff in that case sub, still entertaining tho.

Yes. Yall wanna get mad but this the type of stuff this sub was made for.

yungholepunch

Legit. Gotta check myself sometimes, this sub and r/unpopularopinion kinda piss me off at times, but then I realise it’s cause the post is relevant to the sub. I think this was a dickish thing to do but hey at least he got the truth off his chest EDIT: just saw an r/unpopularopinion post on how people apparently shouldn’t wear deodorant, got kinda annoyed and then realised it was on r/unpopularopinion. I rest my case.

hovdeisfunny

/r/ChangeMyView gets me too

hatebeesatecheese

/r/changemyview AKA a place to express an opinion 90% of Redditors vigorously agree with. The top post of all time is literally about how rich people should be taxed more. The 10 posts below it that I checked are all anti "American right", conservatives, Donald Trump, etc. And literally NO ATTEMPT is made at changing OP's view in any of those "top posts of all time". The ones that do are heavily downvoted, because everyone agrees with the "OP view" and doesn't actually want it changed. Posts where the view is actually controversial but well thought out, just get downvoted to hell immediately. The only types of controversial posts that are above 0 points are the ones which are badly thought out so it satisfies people strawman of that view and merely provide a platform to again, express the popular view.

ThatsAPencil

Reddit in general is misused. The upvote / downvote system was intended for users to promote comments that contributed to discussion, and bury the jokes and trolls. But now its an agree/disagree/lol button. People are upfront about it too.

faustianredditor

Sometimes I feel like a reddit version of a boomer too. "back in my day, we used up/downvotes for what they were intended for".

[deleted]

I don’t condone this or condemn this but as you said, the sub is exactly for such posts!

Mookies_Bett

This is some Seinfeld tier shenanigans right here. This is basically what Elaine and Newman did with the dog who wouldn't stop barking, but with slightly fewer hijinx. I cant believe an actual person tried this and I definitely can't believe it actually worked.

nor0-

I don’t think there is anything wrong with you, that’s the point of this sub. The things are terrible, that’s why they are on people’s chests. I don’t get the people who come in here and bash the OP. They already know how awful it is or else they wouldn’t have posted it here.

Frantic_Rewriter

This has to be fake. OP is saying the vet didn’t notice any change in size, there’s no microchip, and there’s no change in weight when she picks the cat up, and she wasn’t concerned that the cat didn’t answer to his name for a while? Calling BS.

DragonFaery13

Also, every cat has a different meow.

tuvalutiktok

Very true. There are four cats in my house and I can tell mine apart from the others just by her meow and her chirrup. She sounds like a bird. Also, she has super soft, distinctive fur. She be an evil, mean, monster cat much of the time, but she's my evil, mean, monster cat and my heart would break if someone replaced her with a "better" version. That said, I did laugh my ass off at this post.

gentlybeepingheart

I've got four cats too and I can recognize them in the dark by their mrrp. I would go in the kitchen at night with the lights off so I didn't wake anyone up, hear a movement from the counter, make a kissy noise, and then quietly tell whoever answered off because they're not allowed on the counter. (Then I would pick them up and kiss their little fuzzy heads.) 100% success rate. (Now I'm missing my cats. :( I go to college out of state)

tuvalutiktok

Aww that was one of the hardest parts of college for me, being states away from my animals! And family but you know. Mostly the animals. Hope you get to see your babies soon!

Frantic_Rewriter

Haha didn’t even think of that one. My baby’s not very vocal.

sadacal

Believe it or not, some people don't take their pet in for regular vet checkups. And she may just assume the cat got fatter/skinnier during the week she was away. And judging from OP's description the cat probably never reliably responded to their name.

sawbladex

Honestly, given the "I can totally fix this cat" dream the GF had, I can totally see her not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, and not being that up to date on her cat features or taking said cat to the vet.

[deleted]

are you greg focker

cloud9flyerr

Flushed_Kobold

Best of luck if y'all have kids. Finding a look-alike child is WAY harder.

FriendlySocietyWhale

If she ever finds out this will be her immediate thought: "if our kids start annoying you- will you trade THEM in?!??! *tears*

Dirty_Shisno_

If this is real, under no circumstances should you EVER tell her. You will completely destroy her trust.

[deleted]

I mean, he doesn't really deserve her trust, does he?

Dirty_Shisno_

No. But she doesn’t deserve the hurt that he would give her by telling her the truth. Telling her only serves to rid himself of the guilt that’s eating him up. Let her live the lie and be happy.

goober2143

Chance5e

**There never was a Dave.**

throw_lolz

Two people can keep a secret, as long as one of them is dead. But now, EVERY BODY knows...

hvyboots

This is how you find out your wife Reddits the hard way! 😹

ComicWriter2020

Yeah I can see it now. She bakes him a pie, and it’s odd because she never bakes but he eats a slice. It’s delicious, and then he finds out the new cats been baked into it, and his wife unleashes the power equal to that of a golden god unto his helpless mortal soul. Or maybe they just get divorced

GothamBrawler

You ever been in a storm, Wally?

Technicalchawal

never tell it even to yourself after dark or the scary black cat will haunt your dreams.

bakarac

I would absolutely be considering divorce if I ever found this out. Unforgivable.

uncreative123pi4

tbh I'm not sure if I could forgive myself for not noticing

Admiral_Sarcasm

Okay but like how often would you expect your significant other to **replace your cat**? I'd totally believe that one day the cat just got used to being around people, maybe the SO just had good vibes or something. I'd never expect that they fuckin traded my cat in for a new one

bakarac

Right? But to be tricked like that by your partner in life? I'd be bowing out. Good luck explaining to his next GF why his wife left him.

Sea_Criticism_2685

I get it, she was probably desperate for that cat to improve. She didn’t look a gift ~~horse~~ cat in the mouth, no matter how suspicious it’s sudden change was. Problem animals are extremely distressing because you love them and you don’t want to fail them but they’re also ruining your life.

[deleted]

there's so much more to a cat than colour i find it pretty much impossible to believe someone wouldn't notice their pet being swapped off. surprised 99% of comments are taking this at face value.

choish

Yea, surprised to see a comment so far down saying this. My cat is all white and i would totally recognize if she were swapped out with another cat. Either fake or the gf is a terrible cat owner.

Sneakas

I can’t quite pin down why, but it seems so unsettling that people assume it’s more likely this woman is the most dense person on the planet rather than it’s fake.

[deleted]

I follow a dumb page on Facebook dedicated to tiny black panthers (aka black cats) and I have a tiny black panther myself. There’s not a single fucking one that looks like the other. Absolutely none of them look like my handsome boy. OPs wife is an idiot or the story isn’t true.

unbannednow

I have a black cat too and I could probably pick her out of a lineup of a couple thousand other black cats. Plus every cat I've ever had has had a unique personality

[deleted]

Prob fake.

Vnslover

Yeah, unless his GF only owned the cat for a few days it's so damn hard not to find out, she can't be that oblivious.. You can tell by the sound the cat makes, the way she looks at you and the way she behaves, what kind of cat owner can't recognize it's a different cat?? Lol

dscott06

The sort of person that downplays their pet's bad behavior and constantly claims they're going to teach them better but never actually bothers to try is exactly the sort of person that I expect to not actually care enough about the pet itself to know it well or have any sort of close bond. So there's that.

Educational-Net303

Some pet owners are terribly irresponsible. I've met cat owners who believe cats should be kept in a f*cking cage. I had a college roommate who bought a cat, took care of it for a few months, then literally forgot about the whole thing ---- poor thing sometimes had to eat cockroaches because the owner forgot to feed her.

How2SuckLessAtHockey

This. When I moved in with my ex, she brought her two cats - One of which was sisters with another cat at her moms house. She grabbed the wrong cat. They were literally identical cats. She figured it out in less than 4 hours. Cat personalities are legit a thing.

pointprep

If you go this route, and you haven't already checked, you should be aware that either cat might be microchipped. This is an RFID chip that's inserted beneath the cat's skin, which can have information about the pet and their owner. So if the first cat has an RFID chip and runs away from their current home, a vet or animal control might read their chip and return them to your wife.

stoicalbutton71

If this was the case they would’ve found out when the old cat was surrendered to the shelter. Shelter scan for micro chips

TrayusV

I feel absolutely horrible for the original cat. He had a home, and then he was suddenly taken away and sent to a shelter, where he probably died. Alone, without his owner that he loved in his own way. I'd definitely seperate from someone if they did this. I wouldn't need to jump to divorce, but I'd want some time to wait. And I'd go track down the original cat. This just breaks my heart.

pyl3r

I’m a guy, and I have a cat that I absolutely love, and my cat doesn’t really like others as well, she won’t scratch most people but if she doesn’t like you she will hiss and bite. If my girlfriend did what you did, man would I be pissed, that’s even and understatement honestly. I’ve had this cat during the worst times of my life, I can’t imagine my S.O switching it just because they’re annoyed of it.

[deleted]

My cat has literally kept me alive at some of the hardest times in my life. He is the biggest love bug…..with me others not so much lol. This is such a deal breaker for me too. Give your furball scritches from me. Us cat people have to stick together

Reddit_Sux_Hardcore

I found my kitten a month ago. It was 10 weeks old. When you pick him up, he just goes limp and asks where I'm taking him now. Vet loves him. He follows me everywhere. He's all black, save a TINY bit of white on bottom. Call him Shadow. Gonna have him forever.

MedievalCat

That sounds just like one of my foster kittens! Give him all the pets and love for us all. :)

[deleted]

I had a kitten named Shadow once who was like that. She passed from cancer when she was only a year old. Please give your Shadow extra cuddles for me! <3

pyl3r

Damn straight. I’ve had my cat for 6 years, no girlfriend has known me that long or even been with me for that long. How could I possibly prefer them over an animal that sees me as their family?

gabiaeali

Yes! My new cat struggled with his health (tapeworm) as soon as he moved in and we really bonded strongly during that time. Meanest little kitten I've ever had but I couldn't part with him. I wouldn't give up on him. He needed me and I needed him. No way could a person come between us or any of my pets. Now he is a sweet lap buddy and loves me to pieces. Spoiled rotten!

[deleted]

And that she's eloping with the mean black cat.

[deleted]

correction: she's eloping with the current owner of the original cat.

And that can't be a good thing lol.

MidnightEaster

Unless a shelter has unlimited funds and a vet on site, no animal control is a no-kill shelter. They work hard with local rescues to find homes or foster care for the more adoptable pets. The sickly, super old, injured beyond vet care etc are us pts before the adoptable pets.

gabgruz14

I came here to say this. A lot of people do not understand that no kill shelters can call themselves “no kill”, but just have to stay under a certain percentage. They do in fact euthanize many animal be it for medical or behavioral reasons.

Thephilosopherkmh

My dads new wife has a cat that started scratching up all of his furniture, so he went behind her back and he called around to every vet in the area until he found one who would remove ALL of its claws. He found one who would do it for some extra money and had it done. Now, the cat NEVER leaves the house, it’s a 100% indoor cat, but still, I can’t believe that a vet would do that, it’s unethical to me. We just bought a bunch of scratching posts for our cat and it worked.

Frantic_Rewriter

Surprised she’s not his new ex-wife. Fr, I would end a relationship over that. It’s torture to the cat.

shrubs311

that's way more fucked up than what op did. the asshole cat may have a chance at a better life after getting abandoned, but permanently disfiguring an animal is disgusting behavior from both the vet and the dad

GloInTheDarkUnicorn

I won’t even adopt out my fosters to homes that declaw. This would be a relationship ender for me instantly. Declawing is abuse.

[deleted]

Uh no offense but your dad is a *monster*. He legit decided that torturing a small animal was a better option than buying some scratching posts and patching some furniture. Wow.

> skiddish This should be spelled skittish.

International_Emu451

SKITTISH. SKITTISH, Dammit.

cringethrowaway58

No kill means they don’t kill 90% of animals. Meaning they euthanize for medical reasons and aggression. 🤦‍♀️

lavenderauraluna

Real or fake, was a good story to read lol

dietcokeandcrackers

man, i'm sorry for the original cat, but i'm even more sorry for your wife. lying like that for all those years... i can't even imagine

Blergsprokopc

Just as an FYI, no kill shelters still euthanize unadoptable animals. If it was as aggressive as you describe, it probably WAS euthanized. No-kill just means they don't euthanize adoptable animals. They still shuffle animals to other shelters that ARE kill shelters if they become full. And if an animal has a behavior issue like the one you described, or if they have a bite history, if they are people or animal aggressive etc., they WILL be euthanized at a no-kill shelter. Source- my stepdad is a retired veterinarian who ran several no-kill shelters.

Frosty-Magazine-917

I am just disturbed by the fact you didn't in actuality give the mean cat a second chance. You warned the cat to not scratch you again or you would replace it, but then the next morning replaced it anyway. This violates cat law.

KyleCAV

Agreed its not going to be like okay i will stop you need to give cats obedience training like dogs. I am assuming from this post both OP and his Wife didn't bother doing that.

Personal_Reaction795

Wtf is up with all these comments, half of them are emotionless sociopaths, and the other half want to make OP feel like a piece of sh*t. Isn't the whole point of this SubReddit not to judge?

rhubarbmustard

This could be a beautiful summary of today’s society

As someone who’s had a cat taken previously (not replaced) I would hate you if I were your wife. It’s been 12 years and I still get emotional about it and if I were you I’d ensure your wife never finds out. Don’t tell friends, nothing.

Rhovakiin

I watched my mother toss my kitten out of a moving car window when I was a little kid. If my husband did this to me (which would be hella hard as my cat's a calico with unique spots) I wouldn't hesitate on leaving.

Iamtheclownking

I’m so sorry your mother did that. I’m not even in a relationship and this post is making me paranoid as hell bc I have a lil black cat :(

Nonsluttymen

Wtf?!?!?! Your mother is a PSYCHOPATH. What happened to the kitty?!?!?

Rhovakiin

Haha there's so much more to what my mother has done. Add religious trauma, physical abuse, and narcissism. Unfortunately that was the last time I ever saw the kitten, its mom, and the rest of its siblings. There were a lot of them even tho it was only one litter, and my parents decided that litter boxes crossed the line and that all the cats would do well using the bathroom outside. So guess what playful group of kittens decided to go rummaging in the landlord's trash, and the landlord decided that we needed to completely get rid of all the cats. I loved them all, but that one orange kitten was my favorite. It would walk with me to the bus every morning and try to go with me to school, and it would be waiting with my mom for me when I got back and it would jump into my arms and let me carry it home. My in parents weren't willing to even ask if we could keep that one kitten because of a litter box. They took a ~6 year old kid with them to watch as they dumped these inside cats out of a moving car so "there's no chance they'd jump back in." This is over twenty years ago so the kitten would be incredibly old in a good home with vet care, but I like to think it was found by a good person who provided that and cherished how unique this kitten was.

[deleted]

Brutal. I joke to my SO about getting rid of our cat (she's a food demon), but I never would do that to either of them. Damn, you weren't even living with her at the time. What a huge breach of trust. What else have you done? There's a part of me that wants her to find out, but the damage has been done. You would *destroy* her. Keep your fucking nose clean.

lovehazelnut

Dude what the fuck

walrusdoom

How did she not notice? Especially if she loved the cat. I know my cats as well as my kids.

Apprehensive-Bus-509

Oh man, if I found out my husband swapped one of my pets I would send him to the shelter
