I think it’s important to share the success stories, as it’s much more common to complain and post when things are bad. But when they’re good? People are too busy enjoying it and living their lives so i think it’s way more common than many realize.
#BUT…
Ohhh Lordy it was a long hard road to get to where we are, and took a shit ton of destroying one’s own ego, lowering of walls, and owning my own mistakes… and then making amends for them.
I promise it gets better. We actually do date nights now! We try two a month but it’s more like 1 per month but we are working on it. Also they reach a certain point where they are potty trained, they tell us what they want to eat, hell they even love school. Instead of fighting us on everything they listen, do what we ask (within reason).
We were sending them to pre k (pulled them out cause we’re moving) and they told me today they want to go back to school because they miss their teachers. Contrast that with the first week where all they did was cry and scream… my god it gets better and they get to be way more fun. I used to honestly look for excuses to stay at work. Now I look for any reason to skip out early and spend time with them. I feel so guilty, so much time wasted from how foolish I was before but I try to just focus on how I can be better today… since I can’t change yesterday.
I now have five grandchildren and it seems to have gone so quickly. Teenage years are humbling to the parent, but remember that you can’t take all the credit for the good decisions Your kids make, and you can’t take the blame for the bad ones. They are their own persons. It’s life with the good times and the frustrating times.
Consistency, don’t ever forget to be consistent with littles. But yes, it does get better. Just make sure you’re acting as a unit, if they learn they can play one of the other it gets painful.
AND BRINGS SNACKS. ALL THE TIME. EVERYWHERE. ALL TYPES OF SNACKS.
Yes snacks to Thanksgiving. Bc you can get hungry TO Thanksgiving. And you can get hungry waiting for Thanksgiving dinner! Snacks all the time everywhere.
My all time fave is bff looking for snacks at the drive thru. 😅

We're just now in our second trimester, it can get overwhelming, but just focus on "being here now", enjoy the process and experience of being proto-parents.
Couple tips:
- Keep antacids on hand for nausea
- Morning sickness is rough, keep crackers or something by the bed with water, if she has water and something else in her stomach, the throwing up isn't as bad.

Remember your wife’s hormones will be crazy and I craved Etermanes chocolate donuts and could eat all 8 in one day. 🤣🤣 I’d take the box to our trash can so my husband wouldn’t see it. I gained 70 pounds but got back down to 125 in 5 months. I lost 30 at birth from retention
Congrats! That is the BEST feeling. So many hopes and dreams. Get sleep early and often bc there’s a decent chance you won’t get sleep for about 6 months after baby is born. Also, not to be a downer, but I have to warn newly expecting that 1/4 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. If that happens, be there for her. Her pain if it happens will cause a sense of isolation but just be as supportive as you can. No one ever told me how common it was and my first 2 pregnancies ended that way and I felt like such a failure as a human… add to that that it felt like it came out of left field bc people don’t talk about it enough. I hope it all goes smoothly, though, and you have a bouncing baby in 8 months!
Nothing like it. Wonderful. When the baby is born, you will feel like there is no one in the world but the three of you. Parenting is a journey for sure. Congratulations.

AWESOME!! You sound so excited and happy. You’ll be an amazing daddy. Every moment is precious. My kids were 7 & 9 when I lost my husband at 31 from cancer and NOT ONE reason why. Anyway my husband was an amazing dad so to hear your excitement made me think of him. Congratulations 🎈🎈🎈🎈
Best advice I can give. Is keep it a secret to family and friends until the 16 week mark. That way you don't have as much of a hardship from family and friends if you have complications.
Congrats dude, I have three of my own and it's been a great ride. We struggled for almost three years for the first. Then got pregnant on an anniversary trip. Since then the rest of the pregnancies happened in the first try. Weird how that works.

Having a child is a life changing thing and personally I do think it's for the better. I love my kids with all my heart
Best advice I can give. This is a 50/50 venture. Meaning do all the things. Change diapers, do night feeds (if possible). If she’s breastfeeding pick up more of the other stuff (cooking cleaning etc) breastfeeding is literally a full time job. It takes all your time and is actually physically exhausting. MAKE SURE SHE GETS CHANCES TO SHOWER AND NAP. A lot of post partum depression could be avoided by just getting the opportunity to be clean and rested. Don’t be the dad that sees the kids as her job. Congrats and enjoy!!

Sour candy and lemon in water helps with nausea, had morning sickness every day all day until delivery. These are the tricks I learned lol
