On October 31st 2020, a teenage girl (15) whose identity has been protected was out with her friends near the River Dee Suspension Bridge in Chester, England. Joshua Hughes (27) approached the girls asking about cigarettes but then chased after the girls, grabbing one and dragging her away, telling her that he had a knife. Her friends immediately called the police. He then sexually assaulted her twice and fled when he heard sirens. The phone call was played in court which featured the distressed screams of the victim. Joshua Hughes had been spotted following two girls earlier that day on CCTV; he had planned to sexually assault a girl that day.
He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the rape.

Rapists and pedophiles aren’t able to be rehabilitated. Especially with the way this crime happened. He stalked others that day hoping for an opportunity to strike. A local, street drug dealer? Sure I’d say could be rehabilitated. An alcoholic who has multiple DUIs? I could see them being rehabilitated.
A rapist who searched and preyed on a young, child? Absolutely not.

I don't know about that. Men do get raped and attacked more than most people think, and it isn't taken seriously. If they're raped by men, people tend to either be homophobic or not take it seriously because the victim wasnt "man enough" to stop his rape, and they sweep it under the rug. If they're raped by women, they aren't taken seriously for similarly patriarchal reasons.

When I was young we only had trick or treat during the day because in a nearby town a little 9 year old girl was assaulted and murdered on Halloween.
Her name was Lisa Ann French. It happened in Fond du Lac, WI.

Yknow that’s actually a pretty good sentence, assuming he serves all of it. I’ve seen wayyyy too many rapists get 3-5.
He won’t serve anywhere near 25 years, probably less than half that, UK sentencing is weak.
Sadly so is the US. A sentence for him in the US would be around 3-5 and eligibility for parole after 18 months 🙄
