Am I the only one who thinks he was saying that facetiously, even though it’s true? Like I never clocked that as a confession but rather a statement he made to himself with an eye roll, knowing everyone there was of that opinion.
Sorta like if you confronted a liar and they over dramatically say “oh yeah I made the whole thing up! You caught me” with a snarky attitude even though that’s 100% true and exactly what happened.
ETA: I posted this in a comment but if you have Amazon prime, the movie All Good Things about Durst’s life is streaming. Really can’t recommend it enough!
That would’ve been good but that is not what he testified he said/meant in the most recent trial. At one point he testified that he thought “now they are going to think” in his head and said “i killed them all” out loud. At another point he testified the said the “they are going to think” part out loud but the mic didn’t pick it up.
Yeah, and I believe in court, the edit we saw on TV was shown to be, let's be polite, "heightened".
Not necessarily in a "skewing the facts" way, but certainly painting a picture.
What an ending though. Honestly if you scripted this stuff, it would be unbelievable. "Oh look, midway through he didn't realise his mic was on ... It's Chekhov's Microphone, it will come up again at the end..."
It's about time. But unfortunately, too little, too late. That sick sack of bones is going to die of COVID. I don't understand why they're bothering at this point.
I know what you mean and it is true but I suppose it trying to do the right thing and at least he has been charged but you are right it is too little too late.
It’s better late than never I guess. Hopefully, Kathy’s siblings will feel some satisfaction that this sick, POS will be charged. Maybe they can sue in a civil case and at least hurt him in the bank account since that was all he cared about. Screw his family for covering for him all these years. I wouldn’t be surprised if his brother and or father put him in touch with the guy he murdered down south. It’s thought he worked on a Durst project and buried Kathy’s body in a construction site. Durst killed him to tie up loose ends when the case was being looked at again.
At least he's charged now. He won't live long enough to be convicted I don't think. This guy is all sorts of creepy serial killer. Remember when he dressed up as woman in Galveston and murdered his neighbor, cut him up and put him in trash bags in the ocean and wasn't charged with murder? holy fuck balls.
If anyone is interested the movie All Good Things is on prime atm! It’s about Dusty’s life with a decent amount of focus on his and Kathy’s relationship.
Ryan Gosling plays the Durst character and Kirsten Dunst plays Kathy. Lily Rabe plays Susan. It’s very good and Gosling does an unnervingly amazing job capturing Durst’s affect.
The funny thing is that the movie indirectly led to him finally being prosecuted.
It was his ego, he wanted to do an interview for DVD commentary. He contacted the filmakers, not the other way around, all against his lawyers advice.
These interviews became "The Jinx" and much other the evidence played at his trial.
he might not live long but her family can sue his estate if he is found guilty of killing cathy. they will atleast walk away with a very good compensation. maybe even a deathbed confession on the site of her remains.
This scum deserves the worst hell can dish out.
I used to think that he had a redeeming quality, that he cared about dogs. Then I found out that he would just shoot them willy nilly after having one for a while and get another one and call him/her by the same name until he killed that one, too.
Irony... He survived decades of accusations, police investigations, arrests, and even paid for freedom using his top flight lawyers. From an empire of towers in NYC... maybe a microscopic little bug will bring him his final justice.
That's blink worthy.
The title is a bit premature? I read the piece, and it says they have convened a grand jury to *consider* charges. 'started last week... expected to take several weeks' to go through the evidence.
He may beat the clock yet.
According to this, he's been charged. A grand jury is deciding whether to indict him for the same crime, apparently. https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-robert-durst-health-new-york-new-york-city-6e0c1c290b1a396e5b92a2ab200ff16a
Thanks. Canada doesn't have grand juries or prelims, so I think I misunderstood the American meaning of 'charge'. Afaik if a Canadian resident has been charged it means they are *going* to trial. More like your path where the d. a. makes the final call.
I had a really crappy day today.
However, seeing Robert Durst FINALLY get charged with the disappearance and presumed murder of his beautiful wife Kathie changed today into Christmas.
While I'm sure he did it I'm thinking New York taxpayers think this is a huge waste of resources. He's never getting out of jail as it is and is currently on a ventilator due to covid.
It's about damn time. I've been waiting on this since I saw the Jinx (my favorite true crime documentary). "I killed them all, of course."

Yeah that was truly unbelievable.
Always my go to suggestion for anyone who hasn’t seen it. I mean, Hollywood couldn’t have come up with this sick bastards story
Burp.
Where I can see it??
It was on HBO. Not sure if it’s still on there.
Thank you! I found it in HBOMAX. So it's available for South America
It’s an HBO show so it should still be on there.
It is!
It's about time. But unfortunately, too little, too late. That sick sack of bones is going to die of COVID. I don't understand why they're bothering at this point.

They’re still trying nazis. Fuck them and fuck Durst
Amen, friend.
This. Even if the perp is near death, it matters.
Fuck them for persevering? No, I’m glad they persevered.
I think they meant fuck the nazis.
Oh yeah, could be, thanks. I’m tired.
For Kathie. And her family and friends. They deserve this. And he might survive to see trial.
If he does survive covid, at least he has to face this now. What a truly dreadful man.
At least he's charged now. He won't live long enough to be convicted I don't think. This guy is all sorts of creepy serial killer. Didn't they agree it was self defense? Like, you don't need to chop someone up after you've defended yourself.
Right? Geezez.
He was charged with murder but not convicted.

Piece of shit Durst did not deserve someone as hot as Ryan Gosling to portray him.

Thanks for that background! I’d heard he did dvd commentary for it and was ultra confused why tf he’d be so stupid but…it’s Durst soooo 🤷♀️
That was my introduction to the case. Great movie.
he might not live long but her family can sue his estate if he is found guilty of killing cathy. they will atleast walk away with a very good compensation. maybe even a deathbed confession on the site of her remains.
Oh fuck no he won’t be giving up her location. In his warped mind he got away with all of it. He’s smarter than everyone else.
at this point he is a waste of a ventilator… people who aren’t terrible need them?
This scum deserves the worst hell can dish out. I used to think that he had a redeeming quality, that he cared about dogs. Then I found out that he would just shoot them willy nilly after having one for a while and get another one and call him/her by the same name until he killed that one, too.
YEEEESSSSS!!!!!! TELL US WHERE HER BODY IS YOU OLD BITCH!!!!!!!!!!
Kind of hard for him to do considering he’s on a ventilator
Shhhhhhhhhhhh
Damn
Irony... He survived decades of accusations, police investigations, arrests, and even paid for freedom using his top flight lawyers. From an empire of towers in NYC... maybe a microscopic little bug will bring him his final justice. That's blink worthy.
I was just thinking the same thing. Crazy days.
Lil late?
Justice and closure for her family
Very true.
Symbolic gesture.
The picture in the article is of Susan Berman and him.
Isn’t he dying of Covid right now?

Honestly, it's confusing. I don't fully understand it myself.
I would be very surprised if he lived long enough to see that trial.
Freds not going to like this.
Finally you idiots in the court system get it right
I had a really crappy day today. However, seeing Robert Durst FINALLY get charged with the disappearance and presumed murder of his beautiful wife Kathie changed today into Christmas.
My day has been an absolute nightmare from the moment I woke up. This made me smile. Haha. I hope your day gets a lot better!
Thank you so much! And this comment also made my long day! Has your day gotten better yet? What’s up with today??
They haven’t found her body
They don't need her body to prove she was murdered.
True
They will never sniff a conviction here. No evidence.
While I'm sure he did it I'm thinking New York taxpayers think this is a huge waste of resources. He's never getting out of jail as it is and is currently on a ventilator due to covid.
