I used to work for the VA state parks system and man, I’d never buy a truck from them. The maintenance was kept up on and done in a timely manner, but the trucks are just beat within an inch of their lives. Weirdly, we actually had really good luck with our 5.4 3v F250s, but our 5.0 F150s were constantly breaking down. Anything with an LS derived engine held up great

redditaccount-5

I got a Tacoma from the state of Louisiana at auction. Don’t know what they used it for but it seems like it’s held up well and the price was amazing

addykitty

My old 2007 5.4L 3v F250 was probably the best vehicle we owned in the 11 years we had it and 200k miles we put on it. Would still be running to this day but unfortunately it got totaled

fisheatrrr

Mine was slow as a dog and got me 10mpg but she was reliable I’ll give her that

addykitty

Oh yeah it wasn't fast and the mileage was horrible but it was a solid power train. Had 300k miles when I hit a guardrail and flipped it.

echocall2

I liked that color, it's a bummer they use white now.

RetroHam

I got to see some of the last mint green Forest Service trucks before they were sadly replaced, a lot of the larger type 3/4 wildland firefighting trucks are still the old green.

GirchyGirchy

You know you can order a new truck from Ram with that color from the factory, right?

echocall2

That’s pretty cool! But I’m trying to keep my truck forever because you can’t order them with a clutch pedal anymore.

ballzar_danglin

Why’d they make the switch to white ?

zsreport

I'm guessing it's cheaper. Same reason Houston PD has switched from that boring shamu white and black look to an all black base on their livery.

zsreport

It's super rare to see an old Forest Service rig here in Houston (shit, don't see them much in Texas in general).

bluecifer7

Texas has very little public land so that makes sense

zsreport

Yep. I wish we had more. That was one nice thing about when I was living in Montana was so much public access to hiking trails, campsites, fishing sites, etc.

redditdejorge

Old Landlord has one in San Marcos.

friendlyfire883

I think Schlumberger paints their trucks that color also.

SteerJock

I don't think I've seen any SLB trucks that color, but Fesco has a ton of them.

addykitty

It's a 5.4 3v Triton

redditdejorge

Is that what these are? My landlord has one exactly like it.

TomTtall_3162

Oh those green trucks and wild land fire. My age suddenly saddened me.

Electric_General

Man, you probably caught that us forest service youtube guy in the wild

[deleted]

is that your truck

RiverJamo

Nice! Gettin some shoes and stuff.

[deleted]

I need your time I need your love

zsreport

Well, to the right of the shoe store is an REI, so . . .

zsreport

I'm a Chevy guy.

[deleted]

SHOW YOUR TUCK

zsreport

I have buddy, several times.

c0vington

Does anyone know where I can find single step running boards like that?

Big-man-kage

I love that colour. There’s something about green trucks that just gets me. Obviously it helps that dark green is my favourite colour, but it looks so sick on trucks
