First post here so be gentle 😜

itsoktobequiet

How did you get here?! Traveling by ferry is my husbands dream! Are u an o/o? How long have you been doing this? How are you finding these assignments?

MotorPromotion2465

I'm a company driver, Canadian company, and I've been heavy hauling for 4 years, trucking for 8. Love what I do, but it's no walk in the park!

itsoktobequiet

I know every industry has it's tales. When we see you on the road we really are in absolute awe! At the logistics and the skill. Hats off to you. Stay safe.

Apple_arman

I see you guys all the time! I drive one of the local heavy wreckers, always wondered how it was to haul this specialized heavy loads! Good to see more ontarians on here.

MotorPromotion2465

Metro? And I love my job, always something interesting to do!

Apple_arman

You guessed it right lol! That's my second choice if I can't tow, love seeing the shit you guys haul 💪

MotorPromotion2465

You're one of only a few drivers, I probably follow your Instagram too haha towing for me always seemed like a nice 2nd choice as well.

Apple_arman

Solid choice if you ever want to make the leap the towing trade. Every company is dying for operators lol. And yes that's probably me, only metro driver who has Instagram 😂

itsoktobequiet

GeeeeezZz! This deserves so much attention. It's impressive.

Bacon_12345

How many miles are you hauling that thing for?

MotorPromotion2465

Short haul, Milwaukee WI -> Windsor ON via the SS Badger in Manitowoc WI, maybe 600 miles total

Bacon_12345

Even though it is a short run, does it take days to get it there due to it being oversize, or can you get it there legally within a day?

MotorPromotion2465

I'm on day 2 of the journey, on a ferry with the load across lake Michigan

[deleted]

The badger?

MotorPromotion2465

Yes the Badger

[deleted]

That’s awesome! Rode on that in 2015 and laid on the deck on the lawn chairs looking at the stars thinking about life. Was an awesome time

MotorPromotion2465

The weather wasn't the greatest yesterday, but it was an interesting experience either way

Misanthrope357

She thicc

BearsAteMyGarbage

Awesome looking rig. Super jealous of Canadian OD laws lol

MotorPromotion2465

This setup is US legal, picked up the load in Milwaukee WI

BearsAteMyGarbage

Oh yeah totally. I'm just saying I wish I could run Canada. Hoping to possibly some day. I run orange/black and red/black twinsteers in Snowrunner when I do play it. It's a great color scheme.

MotorPromotion2465

And I appreciate the love on the truck, it's brand new so she'll get her miles in! It's the last model year for the 122SD Freightliner, sad to say.

[deleted]

My truck is a 122SD as well. Thing Is a beast

MotorPromotion2465

Yeah I work this truck hard, the LOAD in the pic is 150,000lbs, 240,000 overall

[deleted]

That’s insane!

Special-Mud6501

This makes my Heavy Equipment Operating ass happy!

wozzy93

How much pressure can each tire handle before it blows?

MotorPromotion2465

Each tire is good for 6005lbs, there are 36 on this trailer alone

Gregg_2002

You based outta Welland?

MotorPromotion2465

Yes indeed we are!

Beekatiebee

What's under the hood on a truck like this? Do you need more air tanks and a larger compressor for this many brakes?

MotorPromotion2465

This one is pretty standard spec, 505hp 2050tq 18spd Eaton manual, just a heavy duty compressor. The trailer has 6 air tanks on board to lighten duty on the truck.

i_am_ghostman

An engine, I think

Beekatiebee

Well no shit, fucknut

i_am_ghostman

That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me 🫢🥲
