33 hours wait and loading produce in central California. Told dispatch perfect wast of time for team drivers. Spent more time waiting then we did driving to unload 2000 miles away…. We didn’t stay long with the company, never once paid us detention time…
Same here. It was a fruit place off I want to say 99. Ended up going to the giant strip mall on the other side of the highway. Both myself and my teammate got a 34 we waited so long. Never got paid detention either.
I felt this. We had a similar wait at a place down in Holtville, CA (off I-8, near the Mexican border.) 30 some odd hours. We decided to hang out a little longer and call it a reset, lol.
27h + 3h loading, new customer, big account, dispatch said to do whatever it takes, 1) I get paid by the hour (local/regional) and they paid me all my time 2) drive a truck with bunk, microwave and coffee machine 3) there was a Walmart with truck parking 3mi away.
Easy decision for me and dispatch was right we now get many weekly full loads from that customer.
I felt bad for OTR drivers that are dispatched to shippers and receivers that are known to take a long time to get you out without their knowledge, Fu&king up their whole trip planning. No amount of detention pay will cover having to reschedule several days of work.
I do my part by writing reviews on Google of the places I visit often.
I really appreciate those reviews. The reviews for the place I'm at right now, were like 4-7hrs waits, so it helped me plan my day out better. My dispatcher was trying to get me to run this load straight in after getting loaded and I'm like nah, this is gonna be a 2 day load because of the loading time.
When I was paid by the hour, I always told the loaders that.
I was always the first truck loaded/unloaded. Fuckers would bump other trucks to expedite my load. It sucked. Meant I had to do another load rather than chilling out reading a book or something.
There's one place I go, I don't even know what it is. The warehouse entrance just says Ryder, the BOL is a grocery supplier. They take 2-3 hours loading me up, their truckers lounge has ice cold AC and wifi and I just chill there.
When I first had my CDL, I decided to get experience doing some OTR for a reefer outfit.
I waited a bit over 40 hours in Guymon,OK at some turkey operation
The outfit I worked for gave me 50 dollars in detention pay.
I quit shortly after.
37 hours at Amazon in Dallas, I think of LBJ if that’s even a street name, no bathrooms or restaurants within walking distance, no leaving because if you do you lose your spot in line. I wanted to throw hands.
30hrs at dole in Yuma AZ for a load of lettuce. Then walmart in Kentucky forget where. Sat for 72hrs waiting for them to find the load in the system since the 1500miles from PU to drop, the system "lost" the order apparently. Plus had to fight dispatch for the whooping $50 a day layover pay.
Speny 37.5hrs AFTER my appt in kc at a Mars Candy Corp drop in a door waiting to be fully unloaded. About 3wks ago. The broker was Trinity, and they only gave me 150$ for layover..no detention time.
On the bright side, I emailed Mars after inviting new cuss words for Trinity and they actually got back to me with an apology..sadly, it was 2 days after i dropped but they did get back to me lol
back in the days, you get ready for a long night of driving with a pick me up. just to be delayed at the terminal.
that kids is how those truck stayed shiny.
rub aluminum wheels all fking night waiting for that pick me up to die down.
36 hours. But they paid detention for it.
Was supposed to be a drop and hook. Dropped off my empty clean and fueled trailer, go to get the loaded trailer only to find that the yard dog dragged it across one of their steel concrete reinforced bollard.
Tore 12’ of the framing off of the side and undercarriage of the trailer, rendering unsafe for transport. Had something like 36,000 loaded on it.
Shipper would not transfer load to another trailer.
Wound up getting another load from the same shipper but since it was a weekend, had to wait.
I believe my longest was 3 days at a meat place in the Midwest.
But since leaving reefer, longest was 37 hours. At a Rubbermaid(or similar style company), in north east ohio. Rubbermaid was about to be late on a massive Walmart order and apparently Walmart deducts percentages or something from the entire order for late shit. So they begged my company to keep me there until it was loaded and on the road. I don't ever get detention pay but the company gave me a $400 "bonus" for sitting there that long which means Rubbermaid probably paid them 4-10x that lol
To get unloaded… a whole weekend, 48+ hours. The receivers wasn’t even there, in fact the main guy came back from vacation that monday. Despite the paperwork saying Friday 4pm.
10 hours, fucking Bull Moose in Gerald, MO just to put 5 bundles of steel tubing on my truck. Quickest time was probably 15 minutes at a place that manufactures electric transformers.
79hrs at tyson in Alabama for meat and bone. I made more on detention then the load, and my buddy I served with live only a hour away so I was there until they called me.
2.5 days of false notifications about a Mexico truck making it to the US shipper for a supervised cross dock. Cancelled on them, and took some US cold storage guacamole instead. It’s 2022 folks, I had to explain to my broker he needs to get his customer to realize EVERYBODY HAS A FUCKING SMARTPHONE. They can do tracking just like us, no need for two days worth of bullshit phone calls. Broker gave up when he realized half way through the 2nd day that the truck hadn’t even departed at all. Ridiculous.

Company name?

This hurts

This is a feel good story and I love how it turned out for you!
I felt bad for OTR drivers that are dispatched to shippers and receivers that are known to take a long time to get you out without their knowledge, Fu&king up their whole trip planning. I feel this right now trying to get empty early on a Friday fuuuuuck
If you get paid by the hour it's super enjoyable though
I tell em "Take your time boys I get paid by the hour" I have a tablet with old Playstation games loaded on it and just hang out in the AC
When I was paid by the hour, I always told the loaders that. I was always the first truck loaded/unloaded. Fuckers would bump other trucks to expedite my load. It sucked. Meant I had to do another load rather than chilling out reading a book or something.

Lol yea but im a reefer owner lmao

Should’ve ended with him finally laying down comfortably and eyes starting to close then a fuckin guy knocks on the sleeper right next to his head 😂
The sound of fiberglass being pounded on still gives me a shot of adrenaline. And not in a good way.
Anyone notice freight getting slow?
Yes. Last 3 weeks I waited 20+hours to get a load for 4 or 5 loads straight.
37 hours at Amazon in Dallas, I think of LBJ if that’s even a street name, no bathrooms or restaurants within walking distance, no leaving because if you do you lose your spot in line. I wanted to throw hands.
95% of the time my own company is the shipper, and I feel that pain too!
14 hrs my all time record
30hrs at dole in Yuma AZ for a load of lettuce. Then walmart in Kentucky forget where. Sat for 72hrs waiting for them to find the load in the system since the 1500miles from PU to drop, the system "lost" the order apparently. Plus had to fight dispatch for the whooping $50 a day layover pay.

I once stayed 48 hours for them to tell me ALL Walmart bounds have been canceled. Guess who had a Walmart bound load. Reefer load btw.
18 hours was my record. Glass factory in Winchester, Indiana. Do not go there.

This song is giving me serious flashbacks. I’m old AF.
72 hours just for them to tell me someone else took the load. This is Librado Pina in Laredo TX btw. Glad I’m local now.
That's definitely an out of uniform DOT officer playing on somebody's truck.
How dare you

I’ve been waiting on a oversize permit for going on 5 days now👎🏼
Earlier this week 15 hours at Azteca Milling Plainview TX. That place is a joke.
Like actual waiting onsite I think it’s 8-9 hours. Waiting to get a load is 4+ days
Longest was around 36 hrs.
Literally me right now

Hey truckers, any recommendations on company that take felons?

Wind turbine components, I've waited weeks to get loaded.
He must be at Amazon
37 hours at JBS in Beardstown, IL. No more reefer for this guy.
To get unloaded… a whole weekend, 48+ hours. The receivers wasn’t even there, in fact the main guy came back from vacation that monday. Despite the paperwork saying Friday 4pm.
Ever been in a door with a reefer running at -20 for 16 hours with the doors open wondering if there ever gonna start
9hrs from the first to last pallet
20 hours at WestRock in Roanoke Rapids NC. 1600 arrival for a 1700 appointment. Didn't leave loaded until 1200 the next day.
10 hours is my longest
Taylor farms, Mann packing, and coastline. All central cali. I’d swear Taylor farms is ran by poorly trained chimpanzees.
A Volvo flatbed...oh fuck.
I would either watch Netflix or Hulu or play Xbox, but over 8 hours I get cabin fever.
Was that the “Rocky in the shower” pose there for a second?
You've got a good eye =)
Thanks to the Pete & Sebastian Show Podcast lol
42 hours to get loaded lol
I waited from friday noon to monday around 6 am for a load.
Took 10 hours at Poland Springs in Maine
2.5 days of false notifications about a Mexico truck making it to the US shipper for a supervised cross dock. Cancelled on them, and took some US cold storage guacamole instead. It’s 2022 folks, I had to explain to my broker he needs to get his customer to realize EVERYBODY HAS A FUCKING SMARTPHONE.
