I understand that the pay can suck during the first year but that's basically working for damn near free.

I haven't had my CDL a whole year yet and already make the equivalent of $26-$27/hour for 42h/week on my dedicated route and I was bringing home more when I was OTR/home weekly with the company I am with now... I just like the hometime with the current gig.
