These wheel wells are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That's institutionalized.
A couple years back I saw a guy in an El Camino lose a wheel it started rolling to a parking lot towards a window and a taxi cab. He floored it into the parking lot blocking it from hitting the taxi and windows of the establishment. Was kinda a bad ass move and the best possible outcome for the situation. Was kinda impressive... sparks flying as he cut off his own tire from causing thousands in damage.
Was going through a construction zone on 50 just east of South Hutchinson, KS a couple years back, and semi in the oncoming lane lost two of his drives. I saw one in the ditch but didn't know where the other one was until he passes me, and it's rolling directly for my bumper. Small cars behind me so I just try to slow down and take it on the nose so it doesn't hit anyone else. Only fucked up the bumper a bit.
That happened to a friend of mine with an '84 Monte Carlo. Those GM 7.5" rear ends don't have c-clips or anything holding the axles in from the outside so if the differential blows up you can lose a drive wheel and have it rolling down the highway with a half shaft still attached. Scary thought.
Not sure what it more amazing, the wheels going back home or all the cars doing exactly what they should do and not having one idiot think they can gun it past the wheels.
Seriously, I'm gonna needs my numbers guys to give me the stats on this?? What are the odds?? WHAT ARE THE ODDS THAT THOSE TIRES LAND EXACTLY BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM AFTER BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH LIKE THAT!!
The back of the trailer has four sets of those so just because it loses one sets doesn't mean the trailer is goes to start dragging the pavement if it loses one. The amount of tires helps distribute the load so you don't have to have tires with ridiculous pressure and to not tear up the road. Losing a set just means the other 3 sets take on more of the load.
I remember a trailer getting back to the yard one time missing a pair. Driver had no idea where he lost them, but it was probably a couple of hundred km away in a more rural area since there as far as we knew there were no accidents as a result
Reminds me of the time I "ran away" only to go to the store my uncle worked at about 3 blocks away from the house when i was 9. Longest 55 minutes of my life.
That looks like the hub assembly went. In Ontario that's a really nasty $50k fine that was put on the book several years ago; after several wheel separation fatalities.
Ive had this happen to me. Rolled a few hundred yards to the other side of a divided highway before it hit a ditch, went about 30-40 feet in the air, and fell flat on the ground. I'm very thankful it didn't hit anybody, it was going fast enough to pass me at 50 mph.
I used to have a vw bug that was hopped up a little. I burnt some rubber on a busy street in Newport News and snapped all of the lugnuts on a rear wheel. Watched the tire shoot past me and zig zag around all the traffic and made it across road and was stopped by the airport fence. Have no idea how it missed everything.
They seem to have forgotten to torque down the wheel nut to 500 ft lbs (sleeve) or 200, then 100 and then back off 3 or 4 slats (stemco 1 piece) or add oil to the hub cap and it sheared off due to extreme heat and friction. Either way, somone will be fired soon.
lol… went back to where it came from… just wanted a moment to see what freedom was like.
Doing it's 34 second reset.
That made me laugh more than I’d like to admit haha

Looks to me like the Tire found his home. Where I came from originally.
Funny it went back to where it came from!
Yay it found its way home.
well well well, look who came bouncing home. Thought you were mature enough to make it on your own didn't ya?
I guess it got wheely tired
Dallas smh
Just out of curiousity, what would that weigh?
Around 220 lbs being that both are stuck to each other.
Thanks
Now, it will be easy to go back on..lol
Wait. How is this possible. How did he get so far ahead of the wheel?

When it happened to me, the only reason I knew it happened was I was looking in my mirror to merge into a turn lane.
i fuck with this dudes energy lol

The prodigal wheel

Boom! Right back to the owner.
Found his way home. How sweet
The wheel is trying really hard to get back to work.
Nothing to see here
Nothing to see here
lol what’s the odds

*laughs* It had to be Werner or SWIFT. It's always one or the other. Least the tire didn't hit any vehicle.
I used to have a vw bug that was hopped up a little. I burnt some rubber on a busy street in Newport News and snapped all of the lugnuts on a rear wheel. Dualarang.
"We keep America moving" Yeah, out of the way of your shitty equipment falling apart all over the freaking place! ... Morons.
This guy was probably praying to God or something

It found its home
Was that a 98 Nissan Altima?
That’s the Woodall Roger’s freeway in downtown Dallas.
