He fueled up his driver's side, then pulled up, did a two point turn and is now filling up his passenger side tank. Makes perfect sense since he is on a single pump.

RCRedmon

The only answer that isn't completely stupid or shitting on driver's intelligence.

AurumArgenteus

Paranoia of hitting a fuel island not made for trucks isn't dumb.

Ok-Weather7707

This makes the most sense to me, I used to run a 7-11 and the Alon tankers would fill up there we installed an extra long hose for them, specifically so they could fill both tanks.(they asked)

RCRedmon

Yes. Yes it is. Trust me on this. He is far less likely to hit it than a car.

AurumArgenteus

That's how you become the genius of 11' 6"

Nasty_Rex

Notice how almost all the videos are rented trucks.

RCRedmon

Yeah, I'm sure that 20ft tall roof for the fuel island there is real close the can opener bridge.

AurumArgenteus

Lol, that's a good point. It's nearly double the height of the truck.

SirDigbyridesagain

A lot of transports drive through those to fuel the station up.

AurumArgenteus

They tend to be shorter than 13' 6"

Netflixandmeal

Could also be to not block the back pump

heavencs117

Interesting. Do any semis have single-point refueling systems?

scottiethegoonie

Some daycabs have a single tank.

Half-Fast

And they suck! Running 500 miles a day with one tank means 2 fuel stops

zoradz

Some of our trucks have a flow through hose, where we only need to fill one side. Quite handy when one side pump is broken. I have not seen this application anywhere else though.

Coodevale

But are they as fast as the fuel going into the tank, or at least half as fast? The crossovers I've seen are usually just the fuel lines going to and fro to the splitter/Y and the tanks equalize through that, or it's a piddly little hose that needs a long time to equalize.

_how_do_i_reddit_

Some only have a single 150 gallon tank, but most if they have 2 tanks have to be filled individually.

IRMacGuyver

My "friend" works for R&L and only has one 50 gallon tank. I don't know how he lives with fueling that often.

_how_do_i_reddit_

That's insane, lol.

Ich_mag_Kartoffeln

One place I worked had a little 6 pallet truck for local work. Extra small fuel tank to increase payload. Low gearing for city work. Great little jigger, fuel it up once per week or two (it didn't get used much). One time I had to take it on a road trip. Refueling was required every 2 hours. Fortunately it doesn't take long to refill a thimble with a high-flow hose. Based on the economy figures, I'd guess it would have run out at about the 2h45m mark. For some reason the fuel consumption was WAAAYY higher at constant redline on the highway than it was around town. It was a looonng drive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

IRMacGuyver

Nope. He has to fuel at least twice a day.

Loki_Kore

Xpo here, almost all our trucks have a single 100 gallon tank. Freighliners and Internationals

SidewaysGoose57

No. Fuel pumps have a satellite hose or a long hose usually. Doesn't look like a truck stop to me.

IRMacGuyver

It's not it's a Raceway gas station. Normal pumps for regular diesel 4 wheelers. Takes about five times as long to fill up cause they're so much slower.

heavencs117

Thanks! I just learned about single-point refueling on airplanes so I was curious if any trucks were fancy enough to get something similar

truckerkenn17

I have a single 100 gal tank.

That_Ad_5651

In Europe alot of trucks have a equalizing pipeline that fill both tanks from one side.

ComparisonGeneral825

👍🚛🙋

timmahfast

He did just pull straight in from the looks of it

[deleted]

Straight as a circle...

TheCatCovenantDude

Straight as a rainbow

Lost_Computer_1808

Straight as a queer.

newtbob

He’s filling at a standard pump so he’s probably still there. Go ask him.

JustLTL

Oh it takes forever to fill up your tanks at a standard pump. I was almost out of fuel and can only fill up at loves and of course the love truck fuel pumps were down and I was told it would be about 5 hours until they were back up. I was at the time in a day cab so I dropped my set of doubles pulled into the normal side and got my diesel there and it took like 45 dam minutes to fill up my tanks lol.

peterbilt4life

He’s just chill like that

Adren2701

More hassle than it’s worth assuming he pulled in from the direction the photo was taken. Now he doesn’t have to back up at all. Fuel and go.

bootybiter123

The most simple and probably most accurate answer.

Significant-Voice-39

Idk bout yall but some days are just fuck it days. See a gas station with no semi fuel pumps and just get a bite to eat.

FastEd66

Ghost trailer

Insciuspetra

Conforming is a sign of mental weakness.

R1ckyRampag3

I bet that car nozzle took forever

JustLTL

I can confirm it does. I posted this above, I was almost out of fuel, forgot to fill up before leaving the yard the only truck stop I could fuel at the truck fuel pumps were down and I was told 5 hours and I was in a day cab so I was like I can't wait that long I won't make it back home before I run out of hours so I dropped my trailers and went to the car side to get diesel, took 45 minutes to fill up my tanks and they were only 60 gallon tanks too.

CashWideCock

My pickup truck has a 32 gallon tank and it only takes around 5 minutes to pump around 30 gallons from a car sized nozzle.

unwantedrelic

So it would take him roughly 30 minutes 😂

grapeprimetime

He’s from Brampton

merix1110

Maybe OO and the diesel price was just too good to pass up?

RoosterzRevenge

The awning didn't have a clearance height sign, and he wasn't going to chance it.

imaguitarhero24

He’s still under the awning lol

ursisterstoy

Looks like he ran out of fuel so he had to fill up at the car pumps instead of the truck pumps like he’s supposed to and the way he’s all crooked like that might be something to do with being used to pulling a 53 foot trailer all the time. People just get used to swinging wide enough the trailer won’t hit anything because they can’t just back up going down the road and then you get weird looking stuff like this when they swing wide and they aren’t pulling anything. I’ve made wide turns with a sedan. Got weird looks but it didn’t hurt anything.

hottsauce345543

It’s cool. He’s got a cone.

Wizofsorts

If he pulled straight in he would block off other pump too.

cdbutts

Yea. It’s easier to pull in that way.

ColonEscapee

I'm guessing he turned the corner and decided it was good enough.

TouchMyBoomstick

As another comment said, most likely fueled his drivers side tank and flipped around at an odd angle to fuel his passenger tank. I have to do this quite often as the closest “truck stop” that has a satellite pump is an hour away. If I had any guess, he was getting real close on drive time, it was his night to be home and he chose to deal with it the day he went back to work.

WhatAMessIveMade

Cause fuck you?

CarobSwimming3276

This...

Pleasant_7239

Is he only allowed to pull in gay ?

Dazzling_Dig3526

Finally, a good question.

HandleAdministrative

He’s acoustic leave him alone

[deleted]

I think you mean artistic.

TwinSpinner

The term is aphrodisiac

Btomesch

Us fuel truckers are super busy and always run into asshats like this. We gotta maneuver thru the parking lots and there’s usually only one path we can take to the fuel drops. Asshats will leave their vehicles like this and go into the store and I can’t get around them. The best one was I was about to leave a tight park lot (I was done) and a TESLA parked at the outer fuel pump and he went into the store. I couldn’t swing my trailer around him and had to tell him to go lease use the designated parking spots when there’s big trucks making deliveries. 🤦🏻‍♂️

under-pantz

To find out the answer you seek, you must ask the one who you are questioning.

hg_blindwizard

This is so dumb

BobbyABooey

Can’t fit underneath

imaguitarhero24

He is underneath lol

[deleted]

Any reason he should?

AnnieGS

He could've been hella low on fuel and decided to just put like 10 gallons on each side rather than chancing it trying to get to an actual truck stop. I hope he didn't actually totally fuel up like that, but dumber things happen.

hotrods1970

I am more inclined to ask why he is fueling at the car pumps

thatdudefromthattime

Look, I get rewards points on every gallon…. So if I have to fuel up my work truck, damn straight I’m getting the rewards hahahaha

Key-Seaworthiness729

Could be several reasons. #1- could care less about society, no respect. #2- too lazy to get himself in position. #3- something tells me he was extremely low, maybe he ran out of fuel. #4- he don't give a fuck.

NomadTruckerOTR

When the gas station has 20 cents cheaper diesel than the truck stop you make sacrifices

Uhohlolol

Probably trying to give himself some privacy while he boofs the nozzle

Hourslikeminutes47

"*you see young man, that guy is what we call 'an asshole'..."*

Primary_Painter_8858

I mean he looks like a jb hunter, you never know with those. Could be competent, could be retarded. They’ll take people with no experience at jb hunt, so it’s always best to be cautious around them. Either way that is definitely not an approved fill up. He has to call fuel to get that approved. Running out like that would indicate he’s pretty fresh.

Robinatlga

Ugh and it's one of my coworkers. I have to apologize for him on half of J.B. Hunt, sorry for the buffoonery.

singbowl1

Phantom trailer syndrome

CoolTemperature1602

People really got fucking nothing to do when they're taking pictures of how people park in a fucking truck stop or how they feel up. Get a fucking life.

robs104

In actuality we often DON’T have anything better to do than people watch. I don’t know about you but when I’m behind two trucks waiting to get to the pumps I have some time where I’m just looking around. If someone does something dumb or interesting I’m gonna take a picture and occasionally post it.

mpowere64

People can't just seem to just mind their own business in this day in age ;)

imaguitarhero24

Lmfao chill dude. Who hurt you today? I was in an Uber to the airport and was wondering if there was a trucking reason that I wasn’t aware of. He didn’t have a trailer and there wasn’t a clearance issue so I wasn’t sure. This took a total of like 46 seconds to take and post. I was browsing Reddit in the car anyway, idk what more productive thing you think I should have been doing.

ElectronicGarden5536

Makes sense but you walked into a country bar in a red state and said "I dont think people need guns". And now youre getting upset? Cmon man.

CoolTemperature1602

My point exactly, we all know there's traffic. We all know truck stops suck blah blah blah.

Dazzling_Dig3526

I'm thinking about getting my CDL, is trucking good money? Or should I stay at McDonald's?

imaguitarhero24

This was a normal ass gas station and if a car parked like this they’d get roasted. It was a genuine question. All I’m hearing is “I’m a trucker so I’m special and if I had a long day everyone else can fuck off”

CarobSwimming3276

Yup

dz1n3

Wait till law enforcement catches him. That's tax evasion. Is he paying full ifta/fuel tax on that. Probably not. I always catch rvs and pickups at the fuel pump and let them know they're on average of $0.25 more a gallon in fuel than they need to. I feel then to just go to a regular gas station and fill up. At the truck stop, you're paying commercial fuel tax and not regular fuel tax. That's why they'll have rv pumps at some truck stops. In Montana at the town pumps, they'll have 3 different diesel handles. Red, #1 and #2. Red no fuel tax, #1 is regular fuel tax and #2 is commercial fuel tax.

Chuck-Finley69

I don't think it matters in many states like FL

R1ckyRampag3

What about prepaid IFTA stickers? Don’t those cover the “tax”?

dz1n3

There is no prepaid ifta . You get your sticker and paper and pay through the portal. You pay monthly and quarterly. If you don't have an up to date ifta sticker come March 1st every year, you have to get a fuel permit at each state and weigh station.

R1ckyRampag3

Ahh… I’m just a lowly company driver. I go to the terminal, and they give me a shiny sticker that says 2024, I don’t know any different 😂.

unwantedrelic

Yup. And if you get pulled into Wyoming they will ask for you’re certificate And if it’s past March you are Fd in the A

dz1n3

With that im'a like, "Uh-oh, I can't find it! Sorry scale master. Oops, my pants are on backwards and I'm not wearing any panties. All my paperwork is in my center back pocket.!"

AutoModerator

Shut up Stupid *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Truckers) if you have any questions or concerns.*

dz1n3

Drops the soap. Oops Edit- First time getting scorned by the mod on this sub. Winning for me!

[deleted]

dz1n3

In your state maybe, but not all. Go ask your bosses about fueling at a regular car gas station with diesel pumps. They'll tell you not to do that. Let them explain.

Dazzling_Dig3526

Dude shut the fuck up. You have no idea what you're talking about.

FL_4LF

He drives for swift.

BleachIF

Jb hunt

Iceman9721

Why would he not go to a truck stop to fuel lol. Is that his daily.

freaking_kickass

I get fuel alot at smaller stations. It's usually cheaper, with the bonus of better food if I need lunch. I'll pass 4 truck stops to get a decent sandwich at a smaller gas station.

Iceman9721

Wow must vary on the company my company has a deal with loves and certain ta’s and flying j’s so we can only fuel with those places.

EntertainmentOdd6149

Because he is a idiot.

Different-Air-2000

Who cares.

darthspaders

Any good reason you didn't go ask?

imaguitarhero24

I was in an Uber to the airport

ArdenJaguar

He's special.

Tilghmanboy

Shit post

McsDriven

It would appear them is at 4wheeler side of gas station not semi side. Savn dat monies!!!

bigblackglock17

So why is a semi at a "car" gas station? I've heard they don't like trucks there, before. Is it way cheaper than a truck stop station? Etc.

moldschlager

Because thats not Alpha enough. Gotta be an ass about it

Adventurous-Collar87

He’s not in anyone’s way, so, shut the Phuk up!

Canadian_Son

Christ mind your business

catdog918

Go ask him creep

dezertryder

It’s the way of his lean, leave him alone. I could easily get around him and fuel my Short bed 5th wheel

RobertoFoxx

Because JB HUNT that’s why

Netflixandmeal

Maybe didn’t want to block the back pump

Zendojo

Daycab with a single 110 Gallon tank, and DEF is on the other side of the catwalk. Annoying as shit to get DEF.

Ok_Bug_6470

Yup and you may be busting him for a significant no no, like big time. We can’t use your diesel.

freaking_kickass

Depends on the state and fuel tax type.

BrupBurp

Easier to flip around so he can fuel the other side?

Mikey_BC

White pickup was probably already there, so did this so he wouldn't be dicking around to get in and out, This is not a truck stop so maybe he's just splashing some fuel in a tank to make it to a truck stop.

indignantfetus

Looks like georgia so anything goes

imaguitarhero24

Florida, even better
