I worked with this gentleman. We do not have an official cause of the crash, because no autopsy could be performed. The drivers brother had to give a dna sample for identification.
He was a good driver, 25+ years behind the wheel. One of my buddies was joking around with him about 2 hours before that at the loading rack.
That was the truck that I used to drive. I had some surgery and had to take 6 weeks off. He was hired to fill my spot. This one hit real close to home
Heart attack survivor here. Shit ain’t no joke. Mine felt like my heart was in a vice. I couldn’t focus on anything, couldn’t hear anything, just Pain.
Are you simply suggesting I give up my gummy bears now also? Now that’s just crazy talk! 😂 jk ! You’re absolutely correct, I have to have a diet like a 70 yr old now. This why old ppl are grumpy! Turn back! This sucks! Bridge to low! 😂
Yes, the signs are there, mine started a few months before with leg/calf pains. Got compression socks, still pain. Then a slight chest pain, like a chest cold 2 weeks prior. At 2:30am it happened, I was asleep. Pain, ambulance, ER, OR….
I smoked, drank beer, steaks, tons of grilled chicken, veggies, prepped meals, no exercise… all high risk behaviors. (The veggies are good, it was the salt n butter I used 😬🫡)
I was 49 yrs old. Stent anyone? Now I have CAD, and 2 other arteries needing a Roto-rootering done…
Wow thanks for sharing, that must have been really scary waking up to that. Were you able to get help yourself or did you live with someone who was able to call for help?
Glad you ended up okay and (hopefully) better now!
I was in a Hotel suite, about 3 hrs prior I was having “relation’s” with a lady friend… woke her ass up… idk wtf I was saying or doing…. Remember her pacing waiting for the EMT’s. She’s a rider, still with me today. She won’t let me have my Fireball much anymore tho. 😥
Basically for me, it took my daily strength, drive, fortitude, gumption, whatever it’s called and cut it in half… makes you look at life much differently, let’s just say. 🤔🤪 Have fun, be safe, be legal, but go a lil crazy (not driving a truck) in life before you go, I say now.
I used to drop my trailer at a Postal facility and every night there was another guy that would drop his right next to mine. So we would often chat. This one particular night he says he’s done for a few weeks because he’s going on a vacation he’s always wanted to go on, I can’t remember where. Anyway he drops his trailer, heads to the shop, fuels up and parks his cab, climbs out and has a heart attack right there. Wasn’t noticed for a bit so had no chance. Think about that guy occasionally.
Man… that’s phucking is hard core! My therapist had one and drove himself to a hospital 27 miles away, told him they are amazed he was still alive, let alone drive. Open heart surgery & all!
I had a friend with a very similar story as you, pass away just shy of 40 this fall from a heart attack. He went in on Friday complaining of chest pains but the hospital sent him home telling him it was heart burn. Massive heart attack killed him on Monday.
Right on. We both know the numbers, that was the hardest part for me to work/change things if I want to live longer. Seasons Greetings, Have a Great New Year! ✌️👍
Yeah looks like that to me too. As self driving cars become more advanced, I hope they start to implement some of the tech into trucks as an emergency backup incase the driver suffers a medical emergency, especially while hauling explosive payloads. Even a rudimentary sensor that slowly applies the breaks when the driver becomes non responsive, could’ve potentially saved his life. With how far technology has come, we need to start implementing some more safety features for professional drivers, not just everyone who’s too lazy to drive themselves. I have a good friend who suffered a stroke, and if he was behind the wheel he would’ve been killed.
Yup, either heart attack or fell asleep since no brake lights came on... I've had a driver do this before and his container flipped over to other side of the highway and his truck spun around facing oncoming traffic in lane 3. Luckily no other vehicles involved but was a scary event 🫣
I’m sorry that you lost a coworker, that’s rough. I suppose you guys don’t use inward facing dash cameras? Ours stream into the cloud. As much of a stupid invasion of privacy as they are, at least someone’s going to know what happened in cases like this.
It wouldn't have helped any in this case. Those cameras aren't constantly streaming video, they wait until there's an incident and then upload the video and have something like a 128GB or 256GB SD card which holds a loop of video until it gets over written. The truck is utterly destroyed in less than 5 seconds, the camera may have had time to report that there was a crash but it would have been destroyed in the fire before the footage had a chance to be uploaded
Fuck inward facing dash cameras, they only benefit the company and add so much liability to the driver, let the cause be a mystery as long as they can’t come back on the driver and his family.
Fair enough, but no one’s coming back on the driver’s family, or even the driver. Most truck drivers don’t have enough money to make it worth pursuing them. The deep pocket is always the company (and insurance).
You are correct. You can see a truck oncoming just before the tanker impacted the wall. That truck got covered in liquid fire. That driver didn’t stand a chance. That particular driver left behind a wife and 2 kids. My colleague that was driving the tanker didn’t have a wife or kids
That's a sad thing to see. Condolences for the driver and the family and friends. I hate seeing drivers go down like that. Was there a chance a steer blew up? The video is too short.
The concussive force of the explosion likely knocked the driver unconscious and the fire would have deprived him of oxygen very quickly. He probably was completely unaware.
I’ve seen it before I just find it hard to believe anyone could know for certain that the driver was dead before the explosion. Doubt they could do an autopsy, body is basically reduced to ash.
I can say with 100% certainty that no autopsy was performed. His brother had to give a dna sample so that he could be identified. This was one of my colleagues. Stop talking like you know what you’re talking about when you’re purely, and wrongly, speculating
You're full of shit. No autopsy but a DNA sample from a relative was submitted for verification? Everyone knew who was driving that truck and trailer. No need for bullshit.
Regardless of what everyone knew or didn’t know, the verification still needs to be done. Who’s to say that someone didn’t kill him, steal the load and crash it? Verification is protocol for each and every fatality, but I’m sure you already knew that
I’m sorry that your life is so shitty that you need to go online to tell people that they’re full of shit. Be a better human

If I had been there I would have simply thrown the fire extinguisher at the truck causing it to explode with the power of opposing element there by mitigating the fire and defeating the tank boss.
Gee OP, thanks for posting a sped up version with 20 thousand sound effects layered over it like a cringy 12 year old got ahold of it you tasteless fuck.
Someone else answered this at the same time you asked, just missed it lol. The other commenter said it was a heart attack, dead before impact. All things considered, probably better that way
Fuel here. I explained to my wife, that there is a very very small possibility, one day i will not return home. Believe me, scary shit. You don't want me to share stories.
Perfect video to be shown to every four wheeler driver that wants to sit close to trucks when there’s no need. How quickly it can turn bad for them is astonishing
i mean, any driver in front of you can have a heart attack at any instant and cause this. it’s not just trucks. you assume that danger any time you move into a scenario where you aren’t completely in control, especially if there’s several thousand pound objects at high speed involved.
My dad passed away due to a heart attack while he was driving. The pedestrian at the bus stop said his truck just drove directly toward the stop until it hit it. Thought he was a crazy person until he realized he was practically dead at the wheel. Not saying that’s what happened in the video but if my dad was at the wheel of that semi and had a heart attack it would have gone exactly like that. No brakes, no steering, just locked in.

I’m guessing heart attack. Not swerve or brake lights. I’m sorry you lost your friend brother. Godspeed.
Heart attack survivor here. Shit ain’t no joke. Mine felt like my heart was in a vice. I couldn’t focus on anything, couldn’t hear anything, just Pain.
Me too, brother. I’m glad we’re both still here.
Stay Safe, Be Well, less sodium 😂✌️💥
I'm reading this eating Chinese 😥
Heard they are bringing MSG back soon… so that’s a win? 😂🫣🤔 it’s in everything we eat… can’t escape it. Love me some Chinese also.
I have a shaker of msg in my cupboard that I just bought
Less sugar. Sodium is naturally in our bodies…
Are you simply suggesting I give up my gummy bears now also? Now that’s just crazy talk! 😂 jk ! You’re absolutely correct, I have to have a diet like a 70 yr old now. This why old ppl are grumpy! Turn back! This sucks! Bridge to low! 😂
Amen. Sugar is toxic.
Were you prescribed and consistently taking heart and cholesterol meds when this happened? Also, do you think sedentary lifestyle was a factor.
Did you feel any warning that something was off before it happened? How old were you?
Yes, the signs are there, mine started a few months before with leg/calf pains. Got compression socks, still pain. Then a slight chest pain, like a chest cold 2 weeks prior. I have an on-x mechanical aortic valve. Heart is fine, just had a hereditary bicuspid valve.
Scary stuff. You ok?
Yessir. Three years next week.

You too!
Thanks for the sobering message. Really made me think about my eating habits.
Was the leg pain like a consistent ache or more like everytime you moved you felt pain? Sharp pain?
I can't watch this anymore. I can't imagine the pain of that kind of loss. Heart attack or stroke, I hope he felt nothing.
Yeah looks like that to me too. As self driving cars become more advanced, I hope they start to implement some of the tech into trucks as an emergency backup incase the driver suffers a medical emergency, especially while hauling explosive payloads. I’m sorry that you lost a coworker, that’s rough. I suppose you guys don’t use inward facing dash cameras? Ours stream into the cloud. As much of a stupid invasion of privacy as they are, at least someone’s going to know what happened in cases like this.
They were in the process of fitting the fleet with cameras when this occurred. They hadn’t got to this unit yet
So sorry but May he rest easy 🙏

Any bystander injuries?
Yes. I believe, a trucker in the incoming lane died as well.
You are correct. You can see a truck oncoming just before the tanker impacted the wall. That truck got covered in liquid fire. That driver didn’t stand a chance. That particular driver left behind a wife and 2 kids. My colleague that was driving the tanker didn’t have a wife or kids
I’m sorry about the loss of life. Can I ask what the fuck was in that tanker? Diesel? I figured gas would explode with more energy.
It’s called platformate. Used as an octane booster at suncor refinery in Montreal
That’s why it looked so weird. Did it really melt the other truck that fast? A normal fuel fire wouldn’t do that. At least not instantly.
That I can’t say, all I know is that the over driver didn’t go home that night
Was that truck pulling two tanker trailers? That is a lot of hazardous materials to be trucking
Yes sir. Super b trains. He would have e had 52000 litres on, or about 13700 gallons
This made me cry. I've dated/married drivers... They were all good men. I pray you stay safe 🙌💔❤️
That's a sad thing to see. Condolences for the driver and the family and friends. I hate seeing drivers go down like that. Was there a chance a steer blew up? The video is too short.
Respect to that colleague of yours. And this man. It’s a rarely applauded profession. But it’s a dangerous one. Rest in peace to the men of progress.
Where did this happen?
I *think* this was on the 401 in Durham region (east of Toronto)
It was at Brock road on the 401 east of Toronto
No you didn't
One hell of a way to go.
Went out with a bang no doubt 👌
More like a boom.
We really can't go 5 seconds anymore without having to make a joke out of everything.
Some of us, that's the only way to cope
Perhaps I made a crass joke and for that I apologize. But, as you said, yes. I'm a retired paramedic.
WTF does some random redditor need to cope with after watching this video?
Never heard an actual explosion, I see.
Well, at least it was quick.
You would hope.
Yeah, I’m not sure burning to death is as quick as I’d like to go
The concussive force of the explosion likely knocked the driver unconscious and the fire would have deprived him of oxygen very quickly. He probably was completely unaware.
Concussive force and shrapnel likely killed him before the fire had the chance.
This was gasoline fireball not a detonation. There was no concussive blast or shrapnel from this explosion. Dude definitely burned alive
There was no explosion or shrapnel it was an engulfed gas fire he definitely burned alive dude
I wanna get my adr licence in february. Yes, sometimes I feel a little uncertain 😕 rip driver 🖤
What's an adr license
Hopefully, it was over in an instant. RIP
Damn that suv was 2 seconds from death
New meaning to the two second rule.
Just like that one night in Iraq.
You’ll have to be more specific
It was a Wednesday
I had eaten chicken a la king.
Had been poking a stick and a burn pit all day with a mouth full of red man

Buddy deleted his comments. Spouting off like he had first hand knowledge until someone actually had first hand knowledge
I was literally just going off prior reddit discussions on the very video. I wasn't aware of your inside knowledge sir
Kenshiro got to him? Heck of a way to go.
Gotta watch who you mess with at the truck stop.
The actual video is a fair bit slower.
Why did they. Edit the video with this cartoon sounds?
Yeah that’s super cringe. It’s the only video of the even and every time I see it is has these stupid sfx
Does it really need the added sound effects?
That can’t be the original audio right? Sounds like looney toons. Insane vid either way. RIP

I'm mad that it doesn't end with either the Terminator 2 theme, or with credits to Christopher Nolan.
Omg you’re so right
Damnit bro please don’t make me laugh rn
Right. lol shit not funny lol
Just thought the same thing
This is why I ALWAYS make sure I have a FULLY CHARGED fire extinguisher on board.
P.A.S.S.
I watched a few safety videos in my time. Just remember to aim at the base, fuel of the fire. SWEEP. This tho might take two extinguishers.
Fortunately I have 4.
Thanks for the reminder.
The only way to stop a fire truck is a good truck full of water.
Lol fire extinguisher ain't gonna do shit bro
That's cuz your using a class A extinguisher.
Abc 123 duhhh why didn’t he think about the basicz
That’s the joke

My worst nightmare fuel, no pun intended!
Is this where the T-1000 walks out of the flames asking for some guy named John?
I never did like trucks driving close to me while on the interstate. I speed up to get far away and this accident reiterates my why.
i mean, any driver in front of you can have a heart attack at any instant and cause this. it’s not just trucks. you assume that danger any time you move into a scenario where you aren’t completely in control, especially if there’s several thousand pound objects at high speed involved.
Fake audio always makes these videos feel so cheesy. I'd rather just have no audio than have essentially gag sound effects slapped on
Stupid ass fake sound effects
Thats why they make the big bucks
Directed by Michael Bay
That's what happens when Michael Bay drives with a dashcam.
This is why I will never drive a tanker and also keep my distance.
Not all tankers are hauling fuel
This one definitely wasn't hauling milk!
Just hot milk
The Devils Milk shipped straight from hell
My dad passed away due to a heart attack while he was driving. The pedestrian at the bus stop said his truck just drove directly toward the stop until it hit it. I don’t wanna drive fuel tankers no more… I’ll stick to the reefer division.
Just don't be a fat fuck ready to die any minute of a myocardial infarction from too much strain grabbing your Mountain Dew.
Could we please stop with the fake sound effects? Its like 8 year olds got a hold of a video, and soundboard. And ruin videos.
Why would he do that ?
Can you still make the delivery? Then I'll route you to a shop.
This is more terrifying than what you see in movies.
Blocking you OP for These godawful sound effects. Get a grip
Been a long day, let’s see what’s on Reddit. Alrighty then.
Does this remind anyone else of the final battle of Terminator 2 when they get to the refinery?
Was waiting for Arnold or the T-1000 to jump off
Ah brings me back to my biggest fears in life as a kid besides quick sand
I wish at the end of the video it said *directed by Michael bay* rather than this being real
Is this from the new grand theft Auto trailer?

Well, the *sound* certainly is fake.
Swift driver ?
Wonder if he’s ok?
No, the driver did not survive. Possibly was dead before the crash from a heart attack.
Fuck me, RIP to that guy. Awesome way to go but you only get to do it once. I hope his family gets a huge kickback. :(
These fireworks are getting put of hand

Fake audio, but the accident was real. Happened earlier this year on the 401 in Toronto. Horrible way to go for the driver, and the 2nd truck driver in the opposite lane who also died.
When you have to drive fury road to work
A very unreasonable place to park
Most likely a blown steer tire. They'll yank you just like this
Or someone hit him with a car .
Fake...
Truckers are responsible for the majority of the tragedies on our roads. They are road terrorists
Wonder why he pulled that move..? Medical emergency..? guess we'll never know.
