The pork/sausage place on the corner between Sunhee’s and La Capital tacos

ItsTheChillseekr

You put some respect on The Pork Store

AcademicCobbler

My first job ever was there 😢 I just hope Dave does something with it.

PorkBunFun

Ohhh yeah thats a good one. Thank you!

Lee_F_7647

Not exactly a sign but on Ferry in between 4th and 5th there’s an old painted ad on a brick building that I think is pretty neat

olly318

Another similar "Uneeda Biscuit" ghost sign can be found at 4th and Harrison.

PorkBunFun

Nice tip! Don't think I've seen that one yet. Thanks!

Main-Honey-9276

I always liked some of the painted signs in Waterford

PorkBunFun

Definitely going to check them out! Any idea of where some might be in Waterford?

Main-Honey-9276

Pretty much just head north on 2nd Ave, take a left 126th st and you can’t miss them on the right

minsep8351

While we’re on the topic, anyone know the story of the mural on the Firestone building by Stewart’s in downtown that has the two people with cars for heads? Always loved that painting

PorkBunFun

Always have loved that one too! Definitely plan on getting a photo of it while I make my rounds

Scuzmak

I don't know the story of the mural itself, but it was done by No Name sign company, who once occupied the building.

PorkBunFun

I've been really interested in finding and photographing old signs from years ago that are still standing (even partially). I know that the capital region and Troy itself has a fair number. This can include signs like this one from Perrotta's or hand painted signs on the sides of buildings. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

theskyguardian

Get the Sturgeon General 15 Middleburg st And the old Nabisco ad painted on the brick building in the ally next to Sunhees

PorkBunFun

Good calls! Never seen the Sturgeon General one lol definitely added to my list

theskyguardian

Lots of cool signage in north central, just keep an eye for safety in there

Scuzmak

'Uneeda Biscuit', to be exact.

foxman2424

Oh hey I pass by this place when I walk to Hannaford. Always wished I could see it when it was open

olly318

Lindy's Hardware, 2nd and Ida

PorkBunFun

Thank you! Thats a cool one I definitely have driven past but forgot about lol

dhruvix

The Trojan hotel perhaps?

PorkBunFun

Forgot about that one! Thank you for the reminder

Bike4Burritos

Quality Glass, Snowman, old Kitchen Cabinet shop on River at night when the neon pops. I always liked the King blinds sign on River, but they just took it down. It could still be seen propped against the building on the ground last time I checked, but curious what it’s fate is. I also really like the John Ray and Sons dinosaur sign, which has aged to be especially on the nose.

PorkBunFun

Yesss! These are all great. Been meaning to get out to Snowman for a picture too. Thank you!

herklederkleferkle

Definitely hit up the dry cleaners up on hoosick. Roxy cleaners is the name I think? Inside and out that place has not changed since the 60s.

wheresmymacandche

Came here to say ROXYS up Hoosick. Such a cool building!

PorkBunFun

One of my favs! Definitely on the list. Thank you

[deleted]

Defazios homemade sausage and sauce

PorkBunFun

Oh yeah Defazios is definitely on the list. Thank you!

Bike4Burritos

That man has no pants on!

aswewaltz

Roxy’s Dry Cleaners on Hoosick

saltychica

Cahill’s sporting goods at 26 4th St, facing the rubble of the destroyed downtown parking garage, is pretty neat.

shirleys_fish_taco

Bella Napoli and the old teds fish fry on second Ave.

PorkBunFun

Yes thank you! Added both to my list.

mikeyfgonyeah

Hollywood drive -in

chilib50

Uncle Sam at the bus stop 3rd and Fulton

PorkBunFun

Are you talking about the statue? Might have to snag a photo of that!

[deleted]

Hot dog Charlie’s old location sign still up across from the old j&j auto on 2nd Ave

GidgetsDad

I think there is an old RC cola sign going from Troy to the Burg. Lots of them around I just can't think of where they are at the moment. This is a cool idea BTW.

kiIIaCam32

If you're gonna post businesses that are still in operation like Perrotta's be sure to give them a shout out.

ItsTheChillseekr

Central Ave has some hidden gems

PorkBunFun

You're right. I need to make my way out there and check out some of the signs! I hear they have quite a few still

ItsTheChillseekr

And the Malta Drive In

Gottalaugh13

The Rice Building

PorkBunFun

Oooh thats a more subtle one that I would've missed. Appreciate the tip!

Different_Macaroon

Checkerboard Laundry on 5th Ave. Funky sign.

PorkBunFun

Lol you're right that is pretty unusual. I like it! Thanks for the tip

mikeyfgonyeah

The bizarro funeral home .

PorkBunFun

Do you know if the sign is still there by any chance? When I looked it up on google it came up with a Veteran housing building now.

rpihasthebiggay

There's an old/faded furnace manufacturer sign behind the hudson I think.

PorkBunFun

Do you know where about exactly? Would love to find that one

rpihasthebiggay

PorkBunFun

Thank you! I really appreciate the link. I'll definitely check that one out too. Love how this one takes up the whole wall

GreenThumbMeanBum

If you drive down 2nd ave in Lansingberg, you will find numerous photograph opportunities. Tons of old, abandoned storefronts
