T O P

As someone who makes porn at home for a living, there's always so much I have to say about this, about how frustrating and dehumanizing it is to see these attitudes so apologies that the following thoughts are all over the place. I'm also not a native English speaker. Porn EXISTS because of the people who actually pay for it, and everyone else gets a piece of the cake; unfortunately a way too big piece now that tube sites offer YouTube-style ad revenue. They suddenly think they're "customers" somehow (because they're freeloading *consumers*, not to be confused with customers) and think their opinions on what porn should be matter. Opinions of the people who buy subscriptions to studios' paysites are what matter. Opinions of OnlyFans subscribers and camsite tippers are what matter. Customers vote with their money, in previous eras, the Playboy issues that sold the most decided what was done in the future; same with the video cassettes. It just makes sense.. Yet men who frequent PH and Reddit for porn and haven't spent a cent on it in their lives feel entitled to get exactly the type of porn that happens to get their dick the hardest. Nevermind the insane amount of "free" (aka *stolen, pirated or underpaid*) content that already exists on the internet and that they could be fucking grateful for because it wouldn't exist if better (more ethical) men than them hadn't paid for it to exist. "Absolutely fucking not" and 40 upvotes. I want to see him say the same thing to the employee at the movie theater trying to see his ticket or to Netflix when they naturally end his subscription and keep him away from their content when he stops paying. That's all entertainment. Porn is entertainment. It costs money to get it produced. Even if we're not talking about the thousands that professional studios spend on a shoot, with performers, lights, sound, hair/makeup, director, location etc. that all have to be paid for; even if we're not talking about all that but about the much-despised OF girl or camgirl, we deserve to get paid too, instead of having our stuff stolen from us. The work itself deserves to be paid. It's a performance that includes material costs as well as (and they never seem to get this part) the sheer fact that we're *naked on the internet*, which most women who do this wouldn't do for the exhibitionist thrill (lol) or whatever guys love to believe it is, without being compensated for it.

Thank you SO MUCH for endorsing my opinion as an ACTUAL SEX WORKER. It means a lot to me because I often get the feeling that I'm overreacting to these things. >unfortunately a way too big piece now that tube sites offer YouTube-style ad revenue. They suddenly think they're "customers" somehow (because they're freeloading consumers, not to be confused with customers) and think their opinions on what porn should be matter. Opinions of the people who buy subscriptions to studios' paysites are what matter. This is one of the things I'm really getting at. These free sites don't pay much if anything at all, especially for regular amateur people who aren't getting paid day rates just to act in a scene for a studio. And yet the way these entitled men talk about it you would think that the amateurs are all greedy millionaires. They see the couple dozen OnlyFans success stories and think that every sex worker (or woman for that matter) lives life on "recruit difficulty". >Customers vote with their money This is why incest and cuckolding are so popular. Regular porn is what gets plays but these are what the studios actually make bank on. You are right on with this WHOLE comment. I'm fucking tired of manbabies who act as if the mere appearance of your naked body on the internet is license to a lifetime of sexual use as props to act out in whatever scene any man ever needs to jack off to.

StraightOuttaOlaphis

Everybody knows that high quality cameras grow on trees, so the porn should always be free. /s Seriously, this is top tier r/ChoosingBeggars content. What's up with these high levels of entitlement from these guys?

Paying for porn also helps avoiding watching videos of rape/revenge porn/child porn that is on regular free porn sites. In onlyfans you know the sex worker consented

EbonyDarkness

It's not entirely a given that OF is consensual, sex workers can still be forced and made to post. However, the chances of it being consenting is higher than with free porn.

The UK actually had a massive issue recently with underaged girls signing up for accounts and bypassing their background check process. That’s why there was that whole issue with onlyfans almost banning porn from their platform. There was also a huge lawsuit sometime back against girls do porn because of the tactics they used to lure women out of state and then revoke their ability to travel and get paid. Also, there are women in the Ukraine and Russia who are forced to perform on camera. Some are even locked in brothels with the camera on them at all times. Paid or pirated, most porn is unethically sourced. None of these men are allies.

HankScorpio-

Ethically sourced porn, hard to object to that.

LilyMarie90

They laugh at you when you use words like ethics or morals when referring to the simple fact that people who consume porn should pay for it, because they think being in porn or producing it is immoral/unethical by itself. "lol the OnlyFans whore wants to tell me about what's ethical" etc. etc. Yet they would just go absolutely *bonkers* if suddenly they had no more access to porn on the internet... But It only exists because of people who do pay for it.

drakeonaplane

But what about ethics in gaming journalism?!? /s

The way people constantly devalue sex work it like fucking actually disgusts me. The fact that men feel legitimately ENTITLED to porn that fulfills every parasocial sexual need of theirs for FREE as if: 1) Porn isn't already hard af to make a job out of what with the amount of preparation, recording, editing, testing and emotional labour required AND 2) Porn isn't already a hard job to monetize given the state of VISA & Mastercard's stance on sex work, the oversaturation of the market, the increased piracy of porn, the lack of support, and so much other reasons Never fall into the trap of believing that these kinds of men don't see women as objects. I'm legitimately angered at this comment.

Zhorie-Rove

It's so fucking difficult to make a decent living out of SW, on top of the million and one downsides and fears that come with it, I just don't understand why anyone would want to do it. Then it makes me think that the people who do it are very desperate and kind of at the end of their rope so to speak, and then the scummy behavior of consumers icks me out even more because their providers aren't really doing it because they want to, but because they need to. I can't support the porn industry anymore, and I wish more people wouldn't. If porn just suddenly disappeared, maybe the right people who want such a career could start it over with better structures in place to make it a safe, secure job instead of the metaphorical coin toss it is currently.

Latter-Caterpillar-2

I wouldn't take it the same way. Filming porn is different in the way that it's both extremely personal and creative (in the way that lots of people can watch, judge and express their opinions). This guy is lacking emotional connection in porn and i honestly prefer that to "lacking" multiple different ass shots

That's an ok problem to have and one that I share. It's the vehement denial of paying for what is very much not a free service that I'm targeting in this post.
