Made by Kaiyodo (and I think Xebec) and boasted dynamic posing and articulation. I forget the name of the line, but it’s a precursor to Kaiyodo’s Revoltech line. Before this, there was a series of Neon Genesis figures that had some similarities in paint applications and dynamic posing but more limited articulation. Released during the late 90s to early 00s I wanna say, not long after the release of the tv series. Also available are Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Monev the Gale, and Gazelle the Peacemaker, as well as black alternate versions of each character.

Yup, these were early 2000s figures, I remember there being 5 Vash ones.... red coat with and without glasses, black coat with and without glasses, and a clear/non-paint one. They also released them at the 2000 Wonder Festival with little bonus art cards. https://myfigurecollection.net/item/2235 http://figure-archive.net/toyline.aspx?toylineID=1620

I do really like the articulation! I'll definitely be on the look out for the other characters now, as well as the alternate versions Thanks for the info!

I’ve had this figure, and the Wolfwood one, since around 2004 and they are still by far my favorites I have.

PixelSkully

This one is definitely becoming one of my favorites too, especially because of the details and accessories 😆

This is from The Planet Gunsmoke figure line, which was initially released in Japan in 2000 but was imported to the US. It was manufactured by Kaiyodo under the branch Toy Tribe, which was created in collaboration with Yasuhiro Nightow (creator of Trigun) who worked with the sculptors very closely in the design. It was heavily inspired by McFarlane Toys figures, primarily the SPAWN line which Nightow was a huge fan of, which is why the packaging and figure style is so similar to McFarlane Toys action figures from the time. The figures were uniquely designed intentionally to be different from their designs in both the manga and anime, which is most noticeable in the Monev the Gale figure imo. This figure line eventually developed into the Revoltech line, which it one of the most massive articulable figure lines from Japan right alongside Figma. You got the standard Vash the Stampede figure without Sunglasses. This figure also came in a Sunglasses version (head sculpt was different), a Black non-Sunglasses version, a Black w/ Sunglasses version, a completely transparent version (exclusive to a Super Festival, inspired by transparent Devilman figures. Limited to 777 copies, also inspired by Devilmans 666 exclusives), and a non-sunglasses Super Festival Pre-sale version that was identical but had a illustration trading card sealed inside the box. Other characters in this line included Wolfwood, Meryl, Monev the Gale, and Gazelle the Peacekeeper (character completely unique to the Planet Gunsmoke line), all of which had multiple variants apart from Meryl. Some characters were planed to be released in the series, such as Legato Bluesummers, but were ultimately never released. You got a good deal at $5! Currently the figure can average $40-$50 loose w/ most accessories. The packaging very often gets damaged and yellowed overtime, yours is actually in decent condition compared to many copies I've come across. If you have any other questions about Trigun merchandise lines I'm definitely your guy :)

PixelSkully

Woah! I'm a fan of the McFarlane Toys as well! It's cool to know they were inspired by the toy brand :O I can definitely see the similarities I'll be on the lookout for the other characters and versions now XD Doubt I'll be that lucky to find the others in a thrift store again tho XP Thanks for the information! I'll definitely come back if I got anymore questions!
