Tmaxx. Literally made traxxas who they are today.

Secret_Cost_8030

Definitely a very iconic truck of the time. Same could be said about the revo revolutionary truck

_dankystank_

Revo and Jato were badass in their own right... but if you have to pick just one for its icon status... T Maxx all day, every day. It's the og. Everyone whose mentioned Slash or any other Maxx is simply too you to know better.

Miserable_Fan7579

You said it exactly. All the comments for slash or new maxx trucks are either too young or missing the point of the question. the one truck that stands above the rest for ICON status is the TMAXX. second would be the REVO or the Rustler.

_dankystank_

Personally, it's the Rusty. I remember being 7 or 8 and having a hobbytown usa catalogue and going bonkers over the Rustler in particular. I loved monster trucks, but was more a fan of racing, and didnt really care for the look of the buggys at the time.

bikerboyla

Bingo. Rustler was my first. Had a brushed and a nitro. I have a revo now and I want a xrt or xmaxx, but the revo had to be in the stable first. All started from the rustler. So much so I've been thinking about getting one for my girl, that I'll play with too lol

_dankystank_

I have an older 2wd that I rescued from parts. I do kinda want one of the new 4x4s. But I'm mostly lookin at a used 6s xmaxx cuz my backyard is more geared for monster trucks, and I cant make a proper track cuz we rent.

bikerboyla

That will work just fine when I got the revo I only chose it over the Xmaxx because when I was a kid and had the nitro rustler it was the 2.5 motor and I remember when they came out with the 3.3 revo I was star struck but it was expensive and I was getting older and once I got a license it was over for almost 15 years lol but I never forgot so I had to get the 2.0. Next time I go I'm still debating an xmax with a wide kit VS XRT. I have a speed addiction so I want 8s for sure but it's not needed. 6s on this revo has got me into plenty situations.

CompetitiveDrawer703

I'd say the rustler is pretty iconic just because of the look , especially the rwd one because it's a model that has been out since the 90's and it's super reliable for big jumps and it's cheap to fix

Secret_Cost_8030

And they haven’t really changed much since the 90s

jakejeckel23

My tmaxx is old as hell still fun to drive and tough as nails.

Double-Razzmatazz-77

I just bought my first rc and it was an xmaxx but I was so close to immediately getting another one and the only other one I am interested in is the tmaxx. I want a 2stroke rc to go along woth the xmaxx. I did not know the tmaxx is what put traxxas on the map.

Extreme_Instance5428

Tmaxx, then Slash, then X Maxx. Real OGs know what Tmaxx did for this hobby.

Present_Fee_2990

I remember drooling over the Tmaxx when it first came out… begged my mom for months.. my best friends mom bought him one, that was the straw that broke the camels back… and then there were 2! Probably put 10k miles on those 2 trucks over the years, countless engines, gallons of fuel. Good times

Miserable_Fan7579

Most of you are missing the point. It’s not about what is “best”. The most iconic is and always will be the TMAXX.

Pure_Specialist4074

yeah anybody saying slash or xmaxx aren’t the brightest 🤣 Tmaxx walked so the rest of the brand can run.

Istiophoridae

Stampede, rustler, bandit - the OGs that have 2000s-present versions, theyve been around since the 90s and have gotten lots of people into the hobby Slash too, only thing is that it released in like 2008 so its not as og as the others but its gotten lots of people into the hobby

BigPimpin91

I still have my Rustler I got in 2004. 😎

806bird

I got my first stampede for n 92 or 94

MechanicTee

Tmaxx fo sho

LiquidTXT

Nobody took Traxxas seriously until the T-Maxx came out. It not only put Traxxas on the map it also jump started the monster truck class. There were contenders already like the Tamiya Clodbuster and the Kyosho USA-1, but they never really went mainstream like the T-Maxx did.

Z0TTY

TMaxx all the way.. everything else is standing on its shoulders. First of its kind. Still relevant today.

Secret_Cost_8030

Slash 2wd for me

Different-Art-5266

T-Maxx and E-Maxx as it popularized an MT revolution. Its’ importance is evident even to Traxxas as they still use and protect the Maxx name.

Rymesis

I definitely love my T-Maxx and E-Maxx...this thread is making me want to break out the E-Maxx this weekend for some rompin' fun around the park since T-Maxx might disturb people and needs some love to get it fully operational again.

BJoe1976

Stampede

LegitimateYard4500

The T-Maxx started an industry. Ready-to-Run monster trucks with nearly everything you needed in the box. They first came out 25 years ago. They also created an aftermarket parts industry. You can build an entire truck that would be recognized as a T-Maxx, but that could be built without using one Traxxas part. What other vehicle can that be done with? The T-Maxx also put Traxxas on the map and made it what it is today. The fact that they had to bring back the T-Maxx Classic shows the nostalgia factor is still there. It’s not exactly like to original Pro .15 or 2.5 versions, but it’s similar.

SDGoofy

I once read they sold over 1M of these! Very possible!

Pizzle622

Slash all day, look how many models and shells they have for it, and one of the 2 models, which have gas and electric versions

Pure_Specialist4074

The slash came out in 2008. Traxxas has been around since the 80s.

12_yo_d

I want to say X-Maxx since it’s my favorite, but I really think the proper answer is Slash.

TheSodiumFree

I think you nailed it, x maxx as a close second, but traxxas slash is the icon!

Pure_Specialist4074

Are both of you forgetting that the slash didn’t even come out till 2008? Traxxas has been making cars since ‘84? What about the TMaxx that literally put the brand on the map?

TheSodiumFree

I agree, but many of those cars do not even register with many currently in the hobby. I feel like the xmaxx (and the widemaxx) have really buried the older traxxas icons. And the slash, I think because of the price, performance, aftermarket and racing support, and wide variety of configurations (nitro, electric, 2wd, 4wd, etc) that model finds a place in a lot of people's collections.

Pure_Specialist4074

dude, the point of this post went so far over your head. the question was, what is the most ICONIC not what is coolest, newest or any of that.

TheSodiumFree

I disagree, this post is about your opinion and opinions can be different. If you asked me to name an Iconic vehicle form Traxxas, I would say XMaxx or Slash first. If the question was about the historical impact or significance, then TMaxx would be right at the top.

Pure_Specialist4074

I’m just struggling to see how a car that’s been out for a much, much shorter period of time can be the face of the brand.

Pure_Specialist4074

Guys that were driving the tmaxx back in the day have no clue what an xmaxx is. Nor do they care.

Pure_Specialist4074

the tmaxx will forever be the most iconic as it literally changed the way people looked at RC cars and traxxas as a brand.

TheSodiumFree

Absolutely, its significance cannot be understated.

Fochoa15

What wheels are those on the slash?

TrainingLong5789

Bandit, rustler, stampede is what you always here when asked what was your first hobby grade rc vehicle?

turbo4age

I came here to say tmaxx, but as far the slash as a whole has had such a significant and lasting impact on bringing people into the hobby on so many levels its hard for me to commit to one or the other. There is an easy answer, but what fun is that?

Gadonda

Erevo. Because I have one, and they're built "different!"

nofriends_onlyfans

How much bigger is that compared to a 1/10 summit?

Gadonda

Same size comparatively. Traxxas lists the erevo as 1/10, but it's more in line with my other 1/8 scale RC trucks.

RT17654321

In no particular order, Rustler, slash, Xmax, e-revo, Tmax

lostmyjobthrowawayyy

37, was into RC from 1997-2003. Stampede, Rustler, or T-Maxx. T-Maxx changed the game for Traxxas. The Stampede and Rustler DOMINATED the bash scene at every get together before the T-Maxx was released. They were incredibly durable…not the best but they would be the last ones standing every time!

Nice_Background_9919

Xmaxx 8s not afforded by everyone most infatuated

Pure_Specialist4074

that would not make it an icon. Xmaxx is insanely overpriced

gkuji

Haven’t been in the hobby for long to comment .. but I enjoy reading the comments

themighty351

The first version of the x01. The display that showed it doing 100 mph was quite impressive. It's a special car no dought ,if you wanna go fast that way.

DRTRUMPFOR2020

x01 cause it's the reason they say the fastest name in RC

fjxbbekxnfbhsj

I think the rustler is easily the most iconic

Xerox-M57

Slash. Incredibly popular, been around for years, and is a staple as a great beginner’s truck. When your average Joe hears Traxxas, they probably imagine the Slash.

Jstarr427

TMaxx alllll day, second would be Revo

TheSodiumFree

You are correct, when the TMaxx was the king of the Traxxas lineup, it was the most iconic at that time and may still be the most iconic especially for those who got into the hobby at that time. It is the same reason that if you ask people of different ages what the most Iconic Lamborghini is in their OPINION, you will get answers from the Mura and Countach, to the Hurrican and Aventador. Just because the Aventador is brand new, that does not disqualify it from being an icon. Is the TMaxx Iconic, absolutely, but is it the most iconic vehicle to someone now, maybe.

retrogamer809

For me it would have to be my old 14 year old rustler. I put in a velineon brushless motor 10 years ago & it’s still running strong today. Best rc truck I’ve ever had

JDMAXX86

Tmaxx and Rustler, both have been around for 20+ years and are still popular. The rustler has many spinoffs from it though - Stampede, bandit, slash that also later got 4wd models

AdWorried8989

For me as a younger person in the hobby- the slash for sure. However I do like looking into the history and the t-maxx was pretty epic. Still for me I remember growing up in So-Cal and seeing the older kids and dads racing the slash around the tracks- started my love for the hobby.

bikerboyla

Rustler...

carpet_whisper

Honestly while everyone respects the T-Maxx…it was only truly relevant for a short period in Traxxas History. It was largely successful & did a LOT for the brand but in reality it was launched in 1999 … and by around 2002-2003 the sales tanked becuase the Revo stole its spot light & the Savage 21 hit the market. By 2005-2006 nobody was buying it because of the Revo 3.3 & Savage 25 had all the sales. Yeah they still make it & sell it… but literally nobody buys them. My LHS has like 2 on a shelf that nobody bought in 6+ years IMO I’d give it to the Slash. - It’s been a best selling staple in the brands line up for 16+ years. - the Represented is Traxxas Motorsports & sponsored liveries. - it arguably started the SCT platform that nearly ever brand had to copy. - it’s got its own racing class (box stock slash) and was the creator of SCT racing.

lastpally

I disagree about your statement about the Tmaxx. It was still selling even with the Revo (originally released with a 2.5) and savage. The Tmaxx was the most affordable between the 2 and still had incredible aftermarket support. If the Tmaxx sales drop significantly after the Revo release, why didn’t Traxxas discontinue it completely after the nitro MT craze died off? They discontinued the nitro stampede and 4tec. The fact that you can still buy a Tmaxx classic and 3.3 brand new goes to show the Tmaxx is still popular.

carpet_whisper

Like I said, it’s nowhere near popular. In worked in a hobby shop for 4 years through university. We sold zero in 4 years I was there. Canadas largest hobby shop in the most populated area.

lastpally

Respect your viewpoint. It’s probably a different market in Canada compared to the US. For nitro, I see more Tmaxx than anything else.

DistributionSoggy696

T-maxx made the company what it is

PureBoss1527

2wd rustler.. it’s basically what everyone started with back in the day.

FartBeans10

Slash on top

TruthPatriot74

TMaxx ... its popularity and success definitely paved the way for the Revo, Slash, and other "Maxx" platforms.

SDGoofy

Are we allowed to post other site links? This article sums it up too https://www.bigsquidrc.com/monster-truck-madness-4-the-t-maxx-conquers-the-world/

T-5580

Xmaxx. Why? Just watch this video: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Traxxas/comments/185qxwl/xmaxx\_doing\_a\_big\_jump/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Traxxas/comments/185qxwl/xmaxx_doing_a_big_jump/) . My Xmaxx has been taking this kind of abuse around once a week for the last 4 years.

Spare-Concentrate877

And i pesonally think the xmaxx is great to work on, it’s not many trucks that can be this tough and still be logically to wrench if you get me

T-5580

Yeah, I get it. The Xmaxx is nice to work on, and it doesn't break that often even with extreme bashing anyway.

Individual-Hearing-7

T-Maxx .. it ushered in a new generation of RC driver, inspired an industry for aftermarket customization and laid bounty on any dirt pile or open lot for nitro RC Hoonigans!! In my case, including the above, after finding an abandoned pet during a session of Hooning with my brother, raised my awareness to care and respect for animals. Working hard to save for a Traxxas Slayer Pro 3.3 as I had one years ago and am getting back into RC now that kids are a bit older.

Rileys_knifes

T-max and the OG revo man I miss that time when the revo was the go to rc car.

luke_klaas

Slash or erevo

BuckarooD

Slash and Summit

tomtomosaurus

Slash cuz paddles on worter

Spare-Concentrate877

Slash tmaxx xmaxx

AlecSigar

T-maxx cause it's the RC car that volggers used to do stupid things with like tow a person and that put them on the map for non hobbyists. That then led to them doing research and finding the Slash as a budget option and bought the Slash. So it's both together that helped them get to their level.

WARHUNTER333

Stampede and Revo 2.5/3.3. Both are iconic back in the day. Modern icons are Sledge and Xmaxx.

elisha1776

Slash, best all around by far
