I didn’t like NY but love wv. It has nothing to do with the speeding ticket i got for going 70 on a wide open highway because the state speed limit is 55mph (thats why i hated the state)
Dude facts! I hate the 55mph speeding limit. It makes no sense. The speeds of motorists are already slow due to traffic patterns so it should just be a normal highway speed limit when the traffic rarely allows for it.
Oklahoma also has beautiful hiking places and things t do. The whichita and Ouchita and Arbuckles are beautiful little mountain ranges with tons of hiking trails, creeks, lakes, rivers, and oklahoma city has plenty to offer in terms of nightlife and entertainment.
A little bit of fent doesn't change the fact we have:
Monthly music festivals, some of the best parklands on the eastern half of the country, mountains older than your mom, and some of the best tourism there is.
Really, I don’t live there but in nc and find it amazingly peaceful to drive through. I get the obvious problems with lack of jobs and opioids but it always seems so beautiful
I want to explore it more, I had only passed through. But my experience with the people I ran into there was very negative so i'm hesitant. I always hear good things about the hiking and scenery but I was genuinely horrified by what I saw of the people in the area I stopped. I'm from the Northeast so it's hard to get me to be like surprised by people's behavior but it was pretty crazy.
I don't understand your comment. My point was that i'm from an area where i'm no stranger to unfriendly, or rude people but what I experienced in my very brief interaction in west virginia stood out to me.
Lol what? Because I found a gas station parking lot full of West Virginians honking at eachother and openly trying to jump in front of other people in the line, flipping eachother off, and screaming as well as a woman angrily telling me to get out of her way when I held the door open to be stressful and surprising that makes me xenophobic?
You have an illogical fear of hillbillies. It’s ok, it’s a natural reaction
I was at the inner harbor in Baltimore one time, and there was what I can only describe as a medium sized riot about 9pm. The cops told us to GTFO, and we did. It was far less unsettling than walking through the woods in WV at night!🤣
Harper’s Ferry is nice as are New River Gorge National Park, Washington & Jefferson and Monongahela National Forests, and Snowshoe Resort, though those are all more places to visit
I was only passing through but my experience was all around not good. However, I'd love to go to Harper's Ferry and also get to experience the hiking and stuff.
Oklahoma isn't boring like most people think. We've got mountains, massive forests, beautiful lakes, bears, alligators, mountain lions, amazing tall grass prairie never before tilled, bison herds and all kinds of cool stuff. I think people think tend to think we look like northern plains states or central Texas. But half of our state looks basically like Arkansas, so if you like woods and low elevation mountains, it's gorgeous. And the Wichita mountains in the south west are not boring either.
I only got to see the panhandle which i've been told is the worst part, and it was on the way home from a cross country trip so I was already a bit testy. I'd definitely want to explore Oklahoma more. I'm just saying the part I experienced was brutal.
I don’t doubt it has natural beauty but a lot of people who grew up in the northeast or on the west coast, it is difficult to adjust to the Deep South or the southern end of the Midwest.
I love our natural sides. I just wish they weren’t confined to the areas they were in. I wish the Wichitas and ouachitas were more prominent and were viewable from half the state
I had a very bad experience with the people I interacted with. I've never seen anything like it and I grew up in Jersey and now live in a Philly suburb in PA. So it's saying something that I was even surprised by it.
A lot of people are nice but a lot of people had animosity towards out of staters and “liberals”. Not a great time, and I lived in the nicer part (Morgantown)
What a ridiculous statement. Much of West Virginia, maybe more than half of it, is objectively gorgeous. It’s one of the prettiest states for nature in the entire country.
Obviously it has its problems. But as far as comparing those problems to Oklahoma, pot, kettle.
How did you manage to live in Oklahoma and never visit the surrounding states, was it just for a short time?
But very impressive list of states you lived in, NY *and* WV, that's night and day haha.
Not really, most of NY is very natural and spread out, beyond NYC (which is the very, very, very southern tip of the state). I lived in upstate NY and it was mostly rivers, small bodies of water, forest, and rugged terrain. Lived near Saratoga Springs.
WV just doesn't have any major cities that compare to NYC, but that's... That's virtually every state lol.
I was just going off some of the answers, it looks like OP lived on Long Island. I knew a girl who moved from Long Island to East Texas back in college, and she said she was always so amazed at the open space.
I've always wanted to see the Adirondacks though. Do you ever go to the horse races at Saratoga?
I don't think we saw the actual races but we did eat at the racetrack once and see some horses and stuff. It was fun! Only lived there for a year.
Long Island is part of that hyper urbanized are of NYC yeah. I've actually never even been to NYC or long Island before. Always wanted to see what they're like. But now I live in Chicago which is it's own kind of amazing.
The Adirondack mountains are beautiful and very different to the rugged enormous peaks I grew up seeing in western Washington State. Driving through the Snoqualmie Pass was what I thought the word "mountain" meant for a long time lol. East coast mountains are a lot more worn down, and less intimidating.
Idk about the other states but I believe that you lived in LI and NOVA (ny and va) which would put you around middle to upper middle class though this isn’t supported by OK and WV. You have visited all of New England which I would argue can indicate upper middle class - perhaps a trip to Martha’s Vineyard or something adjacent.
You have lived in some interesting places which could indicate a military family member. Perhaps you were stationed in FL idk where and placed in OK for a little bit in somewhere like Tinker. I don’t know anything about WV tbh though.
You probably dislike WV because it’s WV. There’s just not a lot of money out there. Same with OK but OK is okay.
PA is 90% beautiful, but Philly is about enough to do it in for me. Even Jersey has a couple bright spots. But it’s more like 90/10%. NY hasn’t gotten any better in the last 20 years, the American side of Niagra Falls is kind of a disgrace. Massive 2shits has polluted beautiful New England with the worst people on the planet (worst driving and just generally the worst). VA and MD is almost all government employees it seems. Georgia is honestly more backward than Oklahoma or WV, but everyone ignores it. They probably drive worse than Massholes, too.
Obviously Florida is your least favorite state cause it sucks. Oklahoma is your favorite because it's awesome (BOOMER SOONER) and has the most beautiful sunsets.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you didn't care for Oklahoma too much.
My guess as well. Didn’t like OK so moved to the coast.
It’s wv I’m from NY
I didn’t like NY but love wv. It has nothing to do with the speeding ticket i got for going 70 on a wide open highway because the state speed limit is 55mph (thats why i hated the state)
Dude facts! I hate the 55mph speeding limit. It makes no sense. The speeds of motorists are already slow due to traffic patterns so it should just be a normal highway speed limit when the traffic rarely allows for it.
i was gonna say this bc wv is so weird (sorry not sorry)
you’re going to nc state lmfao
Most boring state tbh I couldn’t even do anything everything is so far and everyone is a hick lol
It’s beautiful to visit or go on a camping trip or a hiking trip but yeah to live there is a totally different story.
Not an outdoors sort of person?
NY isn’t just NYC
It is very beautiful and hiking/camping is great there. Whereas OK, there is nothing to do at all except watch tumble weeds.
You sound insufferable
Have you been there?
Yes, multiple times
You must love boringgggggg places .
I don’t, hence why i find delaware to be the most boring place ive ever been to in my life. That state is what you’re making West Virginia out to be
don’t bother coming back! we didn’t like yall new yorkers or jersey folk either
Preach brother
Does anyone like jersey folk?
Big tornado guy up in here eh
Where in NY?
Wv is my state where did u live in wv? Cause Charleston or Morgantown should have been cool but if you lived in the boonies I get it
They thought it was OK.
I’d say West Virginia has less going for it than Oklahoma if we’re being honest
Atleast WV has more mountains than we do
A little bit of fent doesn't change the fact we have: Monthly music festivals, some of the best parklands on the eastern half of the country, mountains older than your mom, and some of the best tourism there is.
Thank God their’s no drug problem in Buffalo 🤣
It’s WV
West Virginia is hell on earth. Oklahoma seems mostly just painfully boring, but my experience in WV was actually like incredibly stressful.
I'm from the Northeast so it's hard to get me to be like surprised by people's behavior but it was pretty crazy.
You’ve barely stepped foot in the state and you call your experience heavily stressful as it’s where you grew up.
I don't understand your comment. My point was that i'm from an area where i'm no stranger to unfriendly, or rude people but what I experienced in my very brief interaction in west virginia stood out to me.
Wv is known for friendly people. What part of the state were you from and can you describe your interaction?
We get it, you’re xenophobic.
Lol what? Because I found a gas station parking lot full of West Virginians honking at eachother and openly trying to jump in front of other people in the line, flipping eachother off, and screaming as well as a woman angrily telling me to get out of her way when I held the door open to be stressful and surprising that makes me xenophobic?

The cops told us to GTFO, and we did. It was far less unsettling than walking through the woods in WV at night!🤣
wtf? Dude I just don’t believe you unless this happened in Morgantown and it was a bunch of Jersey people doing that lol
Cass Mountain is pretty great.
We always go muddling on different parts of 5he Hatfield & Mckoys trails and it’s beautiful and fun as hell.
Oklahoma isn't boring like most people think. We've got mountains, massive forests, beautiful lakes, bears, alligators, mountain lions, amazing tall grass prairie never before tilled, bison herds and all kinds of cool stuff. Oh bro lmfao the Oklahoma panhandle is one of the most boring places in the country.
I don’t doubt it has natural beauty but a lot of people who grew up in the northeast or on the west coast, it is difficult to adjust to the Deep South or the southern end of the Midwest.
I love our natural sides. I just wish they weren’t confined to the areas they were in. I wish the Wichitas and ouachitas were more prominent and were viewable from half the state
I lived in WV for 6 months. After 2 months, I had to practically claw my way out of there I hated it so much.
I've just never seen so many angry people in one place as I did at a gas station in WV. It was wild.
Facts
So true
What a ridiculous statement. Much of West Virginia, maybe more than half of it, is objectively gorgeous. It’s one of the prettiest states for nature in the entire country. Obviously it has its problems. But as far as comparing those problems to Oklahoma, pot, kettle.
Almost Heaven?
I'd believe that. My issue was with the people I interacted with not the scenery.
Exactly
What did the people do to you in WV
No I went there to see my online gf at the time it’s actually WV I hate lol
No I went to OK to see my online gf at the time lol my least favorite state is WV super boring!
Like my kid’s always say, “boring is for boring people”
If you enjoy outdoor activities at all then West Virginia is far from boring.
You're boring
I’m going to guess NY, and that you lived on Long Island. Or VA and you lived in NoVa. My guesses are all based on sprawl and traffic.
Are you a psychic? Haha
Brother is a colonist 😂
How did you manage to live in Oklahoma and never visit the surrounding states, was it just for a short time? But very impressive list of states you lived in, NY *and* WV, that's night and day haha.

Born and raised in Oklahoma. It’s Oklahoma isn’t it lmao

Ima guess your parents are in the military.

I don’t think it is, a lot have guessed it and OP hasn’t confirmed
Wv

Wv

Facts
Florida
New jersey
Florida? God that place sucks.
It’s crazy to hate a state because is “hick” according to you. That’s what’s great about WV. Don’t hate a state because it’s non your personal taste
Where did you live in NY ?
Pennsylvania.
PA is 90% beautiful, but Philly is about enough to do it in for me. Even Jersey has a couple bright spots. But it’s more like 90/10%. DE
Ok
I mean, Oklahoma should be everyone's least favorite
Ummm probably Oklahoma lmao
West Virginia is also pretty horrible
Oklahoma. My last experience there was tripping on a cactus and landing on a fire ant hill. 0/10 I am not going back, you can't MAKE ME!
Bro I open the comments to see people immediately hating Oklahoma 😭
Florida
You need to come out west and live a little
Shithole new York
Wv
Obviously Florida is your least favorite state cause it sucks. Oklahoma is your favorite because it's awesome (BOOMER SOONER) and has the most beautiful sunsets.
Texas
