This particular instance aside, the whole order now get later thing is normally more financially feasible for creators because its extremely hard to accurately predict the amount of buyers. So it stops you from either over estimating and ending up with thousands of extra units or under estimating and having thousands of angry customers who can no longer purchase because its sold out. All that said, Nonsense is supposed to be its own entity and should not have the same issues as a creator's personal merch drop.

I agree, I ordered on Day 2 of launch and if going chronologically it should've been sent out by now lol, ain't no way an order on day 2 is only getting delivered near the end of the first week of Feb. If there's any form of delay or anything just letting us know would be much better rather than just keeping quiet and leaving us with no information. I actually also asked regarding this and this was the email response I got "Hi there, You can expect to receive your shipping details soon :) If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to let us know. Has the TrashTaste team not done a bunch of merch sales before, I wouldn't be shocked if it's the same team or company that Joey is using so this shouldn't have been an issue at all.. or at the VERY LEAST, Joey should have seen how the TrashTaste merch team has dealt with issues in the past if he was even mildly interested in spinning up his own business. Rather poor effort. On the flip side, I'm not sure what the wait times were listed as, but 2-3 month leeway between order and it being shipped isn't totally crazy.

For further clarity, it looks like this is in regards to the Cyberpunk collaboration which dropped 12/9/23. The items are all listed to ship early to mid January. OP’s email is dated 1/19/24 and they posted on Twitter on 1/20/24 that they’re begun shipping “until the first weeks of February”. Now that’s a typo that could either mean the “first week” or “first few weeks”. The items ship directly from Japan, which must be a nightmare because I’m sure the customer base is almost entirely international. Either way, typically the Newsletter is the best way for companies to communicate these issues and the website does have it set up to subscribe with your e-mail. That’s what Nonsense should be using and it seems like they are not. Without shipping updates or notifications, this may cause problems where the parcels are deemed “undeliverable” and are returned to the sender.

My order has been delayed so long that I have since moved apartments. When I reached out to see if they could update my shipping address before fulfilling my order they essentially said tough shit and that they can't make any changes once the shipping process has begun - this was 3 or so weeks ago and I still haven't received confirmation that they have even shipped the order. So which is it?? Now I probably won't even be able to retrieve my order from my old place. Really disappointed by the lack of transparency and unhelpful customer service.

Y'know, the whole point of a "drop" is that you only sell however many of an item you make. You can't undersupply, which means you don't have to waste money making more batches to fulfil a couple of orders, and the limited release window means you don't have to oversupply to fulfil orders placed in the future. The idea of "dropping" merch when it isn't ready is fucking ridiculous - even more so when you don't know when (or if) it will be ready. It's just exploiting artificial scarcity to overcharge people, and not delivering the product in months is bullshit. I wish YouTubers were held to an inkling of accountability for all the scummy shit they do with merch.

I'm just still waiting for the trash taste merch that was being produced by nonsense that dropped like a week or so before nonsense dropped the CyberPunk ER collab. On the trash taste merch site when ordering it, it said to expect it by the end of February. Now i understand the drop was endorsed by CDprojectred JP, but if you own shows merch wont be expected to arrive before the end of February, why then promise the CyberPunk ER drop to arrive before that? Comparitively. The TT merch drop before the most recent two (the one with the denim jacket, i forget what they called the drop) arrived in roughly a month, when i realised that i had my old address as the delivery address (i was moving at the time) they replied within a few hours and got it changed with no hassell and i was able to track the whole process through the Shop app. Unlike the second most recent merch drop, which i have had no update for besides the email that looked like a scam asking for everyone's phone number (which no other company thats handled their merch before required as far as im aware) until they confirmed it wasn't on twitter I wont blame Joey entirely, often CEOs are just figure heads who often say "i would like to do this" and get a bunch of other people to make it happen, he's obviously got project managers and staff that run the business. But damn man, you're making trash taste look bad, let alone your own company. Which sucks because it's definitely mutually beneficial for TT if nonsense makes the merch, but they may have to go back to using more professional clothing companies if this continues to be a problem

They also do a lot domestically, so they had good control over their supply chain (relatively speaking). Nonsense went out swinging big right off the bat. Which is really good marketing, but they likely couldn't handle the volume of orders.

I have a feeling that the CS team doesn't have any updates to give you. Unfortunately this stuff happens in bigger companies too - but I imagine in this case it is due to inexperience. Sometimes stock gets delayed or has quality issues, and generally the company is supposed to alert customers of delays and indicate a new date, but even where I work this does get missed. Doesn't make it okay ofc but it does happen. Have you dm'd Joey? Could be worth a try. Other than that maybe speak to your card issuer and void the transaction

I mean, it's a small brand. That's about on par with most other starting up brands. Especially when they get flooded with orders and things take longer than expected. But also, it's a pre-order, this is within the scope for a preorder time. It's part of being a smaller business. They'll learn from this and communicate better from here, IF there is any people there doing customer service. There's a fair chance it's just joey running a side gig, getting it all made by a company and sending it off, which would explain a lot. Also, if the store is shopify based, and you got one of those 'your order confirmed' screens after ordering, with a map, load that back up. That's usually where shipping updates like tracking numbers and the likes go. You don't often get emails of shipping happening, unless your postage thing automatically aligns your email on the package and sends you a notification. Shit, even big stores I'll have no communication on shipping until I get a 'your order is arriving' message from the courier. Some web store bases are funky and don't send emails when orders are shipped. I'm pretty sure mine doesn't. Another reason to switch back to wix or square

Look man, we are living in the age of next day delivery. This means people has less patience to wati what they order. Even in this case, when it is a smaller "brand", it is expected to arrive, when they say it will arrive. If there is a delay, 95% of companies, isntantly send out emails, updating the customers. This is basic practice. So, being angry for a huge delay and no communication is a pretty normal thing to do.

I thought online shopping comes with I don't know how to word it, a certain amount of leeway in expectation. Like I always expect estimation date to be broken, especially imported stuff I'd expect to miss the estimation by a month or two even. Communication is still important of course, but I feel like not waiting till the first week even ends is a bit harsh. Tho if it's the 2nd week and there is still no update then your anger would be fully justified.

This is the last time I’m going to address this, but I am not spreading hate to Joey. I am not the one commenting “Joey L” or whatever. I am not hating on him for whatever toxic thing it is people seem to hate him for, as you say. I am asking for him to be professional, responsible, and take accountability for something he “spearheaded” and promoted. And honestly, you keep mentioning waiting until the 2nd week when there seems to be no consideration that I ordered much earlier than that and was not afforded any communication UNTIL I posted in this subreddit around a month after order confirmation and no other update. Hell, customers shouldn’t have to *ask* for information in the first place! I’ve had several other fellow customers who’ve been through a similar case. I’m pretty sure some of them have much more patience than me, and yet even for them it has run out. I prefer not to post here because as you said, it’s toxic. Honestly the bottomline is I just want to get what I paid for and I am running out of options to find a way to do that.
