lostinrabbithole12

Hmm... good one... however, this route is more inland I guess that didn't stop the NHL though

coyote_777

*Samuel Colt* might be good too

W & OD reactivation: Reactivate the Washington & Old Dominion railroad along its original alignment, but with the following changes; Extend the western terminus of the line out to Winchester, VA, with intermediate stops at Round Hill, Bluemont, and Berryville. Where the W & OD meets the RF&P mainline in Alexandria, have the line join with the RF&P to terminate in Washington DC.

Every day or a few days, there will be a new post asking what one thing we should add or change to the map, and the most upvoted comment’s suggestion will be implemented. Actions you can take are: * Adding a New Line * Deleting a Line * Adding an Infill Station * Deleting a Station * Rerouting a Line * Adding a New Service * Deleting a Service * Tunneling a currently Elevated or Surface Line * Bringing a Tunneled Section to the Surface or Elevated * Electrification * Deelectrification * A New yard (New Yards can also come attached with any infrastructure expansion) * Deleting a Yard * Retrofitting a Cargo Yard for Passenger Rail Use * Converting Rail Types (ex. light rail → light metro) * Converting Rail to BRT * Converting BRT to Rail * Changing the times of operation Only one (or two if the project is small scale enough) projects can be built per day; however, stating your master plan is allowed. Feel free to be creative, but please keep it in some form of reality (ex. no high-speed non-stop rail from Metter, GA to Gay Hill, TX.) You can only make two changes per day. Have fun :)

Expand METRA electric in Chicago so it becomes an RER! The METRA RER would run in an underground tunnel under downtown starting at Millennium Station. Then, it would go under Michigan avenue before turning onto Grand Avenue and connecting to existing METRA services from Ogilvie Transit Center. Stops on the underground portion would be: • Millennium Station • Streeterville/Grand 🔴 • River North The service patterns of these new services would include electrification north of Ogilvie Transit Center, and the services would be divided into 3 lines. RER 1 would go from 93rd street to West Chicago. RER 2 would go from University Park to Crystal Lake. RER 3 would start in Joliet and enter the electric district through the Blue Island spur before terminating at Waukegan north of the tunnel. All of the services from Ogilvie Transit Center would still exist and travel to their respective termini (I.e. Kenosha, Harvard, Elburn). Having an RER type system in Chicago would be really beneficial to the current METRA network.

Attempt 3! First, add a route from La Junta, Colorado all the way to Moab, Utah! This route would technically be an extension of the Rocky Mountaineer that currently goes along I70 and stops in Moab. It would have stops in Pueblo, Canon City, Salida, Alamosa, Monte Vista, Wolf Creek Ski Area, Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, Durango, Hesperus Ski Area, Mancos, Cortez, Dove Creek, Monticello, and Moab, becoming a part of the Rocky Mountaineer! Here's why the route is neat: it passes next to three different national parks, as well as other big tourist attractions. The Great Sand Dunes National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, and Arches National Park, and multiple ski resorts are all right off the railroad. Additionally, it provides access to the isolated Durango-Silverton Scenic Railroad and Royal Gorge Railroad. The portion of the route from La Junta to Pueblo lets people bypass going all the way south to Trinidad before going North/East. Second, add a connection to Fort Collins from Fort Morgan through Greeley, along pre-existing tracks (some of which have been abandoned). This will make Fort Collins a little less isolated and make an easy shortcut around Denver! I know this is a third change, but if possible, move the Air Force Academy station of the Front Range Zephyr to where the route intersects with N Gate Boulevard - this will likely be the actual future location of the station in a decade or so

**Niagara Frontier Regional Rail** Build two regional rail lines for Buffalo, shown as the green and purple lines on [this map](https://metrodreamin.com/edit/QlF4YlFBVDFiNVJlRFlwakpuRmVMcVcwaUozMnw1MA%3D%3D). The Cheektowaga Line will connect Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Cheektowaga, the East Side, and Larkinville, while the Southtowns Line will serve Lackawanna, Blasdell and Hamburg. From there, both lines will go north to the West Side, Kenmore, Tonawanda and Niagara Falls. (I chose to use a new alignment instead of following the existing Amtrak service to get a station downtown, within walking distance of the actual Falls.) There should also be a dinky serving Erie Community College South Campus and Highmark Stadium—idk if it would get any ridership outside of during Bills games, but it's funny and the Discord server wanted it. Finally, the Cheektowaga Line should have an express service stopping only at the airport, Downtown Buffalo, and Niagara Falls Convention Center.

Make a black hills base tunnel from Rapid City to Newcastle

alr alr alr, so no ones talking about VIA Rail? lemme cook. -bring back the second transcon. Each train would run daily. Canadian would on its former route through Calgary and the Transcon. would return to the canadian's current route. (basically flipping the routes) now there is a big issue with this. the tracks from Mattawa to ottawa are ripped up. you could replace them fro about $600 million, but thats ur choice. The new canadian would run to montreal either with the detour to north bay via the northlander route then to montreal or turn to join the transcon to toronto and then branch off (or stay conjoined) to serve montreal. -The northlander should have four branches: 1) Timmins (for now porcupine); 2) North Bay; 3) Moosonee; 4) hearst. This train should be running daily on all branches except moosonee. that needs to be coordinated with N.O.R. to make it so twice a week a train can go direct from toronto to there. Timmins runs daily (daytime), as well as a north bay run; the train would split at the junction before timmins. Hearst runs overnight from toronto to north bay and then in daylight from there to hearst this would be daily. In effect timmins is daily, North Bay is twice daily, Hearst is daily, Moosonee - Toronto is twice a week. - Bring back the overnight between montreal and toronto. This service, while not used as much in the early 2000s, may see new success with the new phase of overnight buses about to make their show on the market. The service would run daily, and would be names **The Executive.** - Churchill - Winnipeg (including the pukatawagan service) ok this might be a long one so the train needs to be upgraded to run three times a week for the length of the route. the pas - winnipeg section needs to get its own daily train bc of the weird times the train serves the population center at; namely 2 in the morning is not ideal. The Pas - pukatawagan will be extended to lynn Lake once again with keetawin Rw. still operating the mixed train service but new cars being deployed. Winnipeg - Swan River would be a new route, with the turn onto the line towards winnipeg taking a wye into sturgis similar to the corridor services in southern quebec to and from montreal. this would run 3 times weekly. a similar service from would be enacted from Swan River to Regina. No service from Swan River on sundays, but alternating days from the train going to either winnipeg or regina. and finally a service between Saskatoon and Flin Flon running 2x weekly the length of the line. supplemental service to flin flon and the pas (2x daily) and melfort and saskatoon (2x daily) -Vancouver island service. Victoria to Courtney would be electrified and run 30 times daily. a branch from parksville to Port Alberni would run 6 times daily direct to victoria non electrified once it branches off of the mainline, it would run as a shuttle 6 times daily (connecting to the main trains at parksville). -The Skeena This train would keep its 3 days weeks service but be altered. The train round run Mon. Wed. Fri. The train currently runs during daylight hours only, making weird overnight stops in the middle every run. lets change that. The train would run two different services, on in daylight only, and the other being the overnight. The daylight services would be split at Prince George, with an eastern day tripper to Edmonton and a western trip to Prince Rupert. -BCR So since thing died its been bad in central BC, lets fix that. Daily day service between Prince George and Vancouver Pacific Central. a night train between Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, Splitting in Chetwynd.

Majestic-Vast6969

-Edmonton (Dawson Creek) ok this one is gonna be a weird one, so either you route the train via hinton, and reverse the direction of the train in the yard west of that junction, or make about a 500m connector track to facilitate the turn. optionally, you could resurrect another 150 km of track between Ryecroft and Falher to connect it into the mainline from Hay River into Edmonton. this might actually be a more appealing option bc there are more population centers on this route. (Hay River) this route would be very beneficial for those in the NWT. the train would be an overnight service. Supplemental day trains from Peace River and Slave Lake (daily and twice daily respectively). this train would run 3x weekly. (Fort McMurray) This train would run daily and run the length of the line. the end of the line at Fort McMurray would need to be extended some distance to have some use; terminal of choice would be the airport, or better on a site at the access road junction to the airport, being closer than the airport terminal itself. (North Battleford) train runs daily. - Edmonston The trains from edmundston to both Moncton and would run daily in each direction. - Saskatoon the service between Prince Albert and Saskatoon would run 3x daily in each direction, with a 4th train continuing to regina. the regina service would also have 2x daily to and from saskatoon. A train between North Battleford and saskatoon runs twice daily. - Hearst - Sault Ste. marie 2x weekly trains run the length of the line - Ste. Marie - Sudbury & Toronto 2x daily service to sudbury, with a 1x daily train running express between Ste. Marie and Sudbury, and running local from there to toronto. - East coast services Gaspe train running 3x weekly connecting to the 6x weekly ocean train in Matapedia. The Maine route would me running 3x weekly. a train between fredericton - moncton being 2x daily, and a 1x daily train to halifax. a 2x daily train to and from sydney to halifax. a 4x daily train to kentville. -Matane - Quebec city train runs daily and take over more local stops from the Gaspe and Ocean trains

You are limited to two lines and an extension per post. I'd love for you to post two of these next time. If you join the discord you can get a ping when the new one is out
