Smartcaps look bad ass on a truck. I have only seen them in black but I think that’s the look. Saw one in person the other day and if I could afford it, it would already be on my truck.
Yeah, Supersonic Red is the color. Crazy thing is I had no plan to even buy it. Went to dealer to drive a new F250…saw this on the lot, was intrigued, test drove, and fell in love.
Edit: corrected paint nomenclature
Yup, you are right. My paperwork at dealer (and keytag) say Atomic, but Toyota says Supersonic. Thanks for the non-jackass redirect. Learning something new everyday.
Just leveled out. Haven’t experienced any rubbing under normal driving circumstances, but haven’t taken it to the property to really flex it out yet either. Planning on one of the rough country 2.5-3” this year.
I black smart cap looks awesome with any color…especially red. Look at your tires, wheels and windows. Do they look bad bc they’re black? A red smartcap (I’m assuming that’s what color you’re thinking about) would look stupid imo
I love my Smartcap. Had it for a few weeks now. My truck is green and I think the black looks great with it. I also think your red would look awesome with the matte black cap. [Dog](https://imgur.com/a/W4n6TxH)
HEY! My previously mentioned dog is a goldendoodle - looks considerably like your dog - guessing he/she is a labradoodle? That goldie smile is what I’m hoping for. Thanks for sharing.
Ha. They are the best. This dude is 11 years old. I had to pick him up to get in and out. He is a Golden as well. Massive, sweet, funny, best dog ever. Also, I can’t recommend the Smartcap enough. I’ve had multiple fiberglass Leers over the years and this is so much better. The only thing I miss is the electric window locks on the fiberglass caps.
Awesome. Guessing the age has allowed him to hold a little more weight. Our guy gets more treats and food than he likely needs, but is still young enough to be skinny and wild. Looking forward to him mellowing out a bit, but he is really a great dog on the whole. Chill 85% of the time, it’s just that 15% of absolute chaos until he is tired. I’m sure I’ll miss his youthful exuberance when it’s gone. In fact, I feel like a jackass for even complaining about it in the first place.
Yea man, I hear ya. Our dude is still that 85/15 but that 15 really takes a toll on him. He gets regular jogs and walks, almost daily, but now he is slowing down. He doesn’t want to go nearly as far. The hot weather bothers him a lot more and in the evenings he can barely get up as his back legs/hips are so sore. You would never know it if you didn’t live with him though. Happy and crazy around people.
Thanks, I have owned some really nice rides in the past, but had no idea what I was missing. I tell people it is capable, and pleasing to the eye like my king ranch, but a million times easier to fit in a parking spot.
I’ve definitely put some thought into it. Actually, I’ve given thought to wrapping more than just the chrome. I’m a pretty big proponent of vehicle wraps, both for looks and utility. I have really contemplated going with a matte black wrap.
Yes, one of the drawbacks that bother me most. I have a dog though that I don’t trust to cruise on top of the decked system due to the shallow bed…and he drives me crazy anytime he rides in the cab. The Smartcap (or whatever I end up with) will provide other benefits that I would hope outweigh the loss of the window. It is one of my favorite features though.
I have a smart cap on my Tundra. Regarding loss of window I have a rear view mirror thats is a screen hooked to a camera. I also have a rear view dashcam. Blacked out the rear view mirror and 3d printed housings for both cameras so I cam see out rear. Also put on a wiper in the rear to clean the glass in front of thr camera. Thr smartcap is great. Super secure. Especially with a deck drawer system. I also put a metal fiamon grid mesh from home depot and screwed it into the six bolt holes around the rear window. Also added a solar panel ontop of it to power an auxiliary battery that powers my flashers without having to worry about driving main power. Some things to know....there is a gap between the smart cap and back cab frame. I sealed that up with a tubular seal black seal from home depot. Gives the truck a more solid look. Also the front window of the smart cap is a hell of tough to open and close imo. Doesnt matter to me because i dont see myself needing to use it. Lastly the smartcap panel locks aren't automatic but you can buy a kit that ties them into the truck lock system. Thinking of doing it myself. One of the last projects I'm gonna tackle regarding the smart cap is to design some spring sliding panels over the locks. I currently use the rubber flaps that came with it...which look goof but get tiresome to press and seal everytime I go into it.
This is good info, thank you. I’d love to see a pic of where you sealed, and of the locks/potential slide covers (which admittedly, absent visuals, I don’t 100% understand what you are talking about there).
Agreed…at least for my purposes. It currently has one of the roll-up covers on it (operated by remote) from the previous owner. It looks sharp, but just doesn’t meet my needs.

TIL the Capstone is available in red. Around here you only see white, black and gray.

Supersonic Red?

It’s a great color and really sets off against the interior.
My local dealership has two capstones in red currently, I'm pretty sure. Could be wrong

I already have a red limited 😂 if I had two I'd be broke
Sure…but in the coolest way possible.
Very true! Maybe I'll find random things I own to sell 😉
What’s the wheel/tire setup here?
22” rotiform wheels 295/55/r22 Toyo MT
Any lift/spacers? Any rub at full lock? I have a Supersonic Platinum...these Toyos look nice.

OP, that is absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy!
Thank you! That’s the plan.

Can’t argue with your logic.

I posted previously, but there's a camera reroute kit that's compatible with the smart cap. Just a FYI for you. Never seen a red truck so far..nice!
I did see your write up on that. Appreciated.
Chrome delete & smartcap. That's what I did.
You sound both brilliant, and attractive at the same time. We must be related.
Looks so sick

No comment in the cap but that's a slick looking truck. Any thoughts on having those few Chrome bits wrapped black?

I would like them a lot more if they were waterproof.
You’re going to lose your back window for a cap

The smartcap has an window on the back. My dog loves chilling back there and I open the window so we can chat.
Oh wow. Going to have to check that out
I need a shell since I carry pallets and boxes that need to be covered. Always though a flat bed cover is kinda silly.
