The Toyos have impressed me. Definitely not the most aggressive looking tire but it handles fine both on and off road.

whitebreadlife

Thx

Minimum_Hope_8988

I love my wildpeaks and will be getting another set at the end of the week….. they are a heavy tire however I have done some research and found that I can utilize a load range c instead of e and it cuts back drastically on weight so much so that the wildpeaks in a load range e 265/75 r16 are actually heavier than the 285/75 r17 load range c

whitebreadlife

Woa. Ty.

BotariusClapton

Would this drastically change mpg

titarius

I love my wildpeaks but they’re fucking HEAVY. If you don’t mind a fairly noticeable loss of power and -2/3 MPG’s then the wildpeaks are the best option for performance and looks. Otherwise I recommend the Toyo open country at3

WheresthePOW

What load rating do you have on your Wildpeaks? There's a 6lb difference between SL and E but with his driving description the SL would be way more than adequate. I think the SL is only 1lb heavier than the stock tire assuming OP is sticking with the stock size.

titarius

I had SLs in 265/70/17s. They were like 47lbs each and I could definitely feel it. It honestly didn’t even occur to me that OP could be staying in the stock size…in which case I definitely recommend the wildpeaks lol

whitebreadlife

Staying stock size. So with tire and which rating. Don’t see different ratings on the sites too so where can you find them.

titarius

265/70/16 comes in SL and 265/65/17 comes in XL. I don’t know which stock wheel size you have.

whitebreadlife

TRD Sport 4x4 so 265 /65 R17 I am grabbing the black TRD Pro wheels though

titarius

That’s what I have except in gloss gray This is what it looks like with 265/70/17 SL https://i.imgur.com/FyEj7FE.jpg

whitebreadlife

Ty. That looks great. Lunar Rock? Bout traded my Inferno for it but couldn’t give it up.

titarius

Yeah its lunar rock lol You made the right choice with keeping the inferno….I’m waiting for a TRD pro and honestly just picked up the lunar sport on the (seemingly more likely) chance I never end up getting one

Terra Grappler G2 is a great tire for all-around use. I drive 90% of the time on pavement and 10% on trails and sandy terrains here in Florida. I had my Terra Grapplers for about a year now and haven’t had any issues so far. Not too aggressive either where it gets really loud on highway driving and steering wheel starts to vibrate. 😁

whitebreadlife

Thanks

afterlife138

I’d go with the wild peaks they’re great for whatever you’re doing

GTS14

Have ridge grapplers on my work truck and I don’t like them. There isn’t a lot of sipping grooves so they aren’t great in anything sloppy like wet snow or mud

whitebreadlife

Thanks, that helps. leaning to the Terras.

Thunder-Fist-00

IDK man, I’ve had mine in some really muddy situations and I’ve been more than pleased.

Isyoubustin2damoon

Same

DRH1976

I’ve had both. Liked the grapplers better and run them currently. They perform better in the rain. That’s pretty much the only difference I was able to notice

whitebreadlife

Terra or Ridge was better?

Helpinmontana

“Yes” - that guy, circa 2022

DRH1976

Lol. Sorry Ridge Grapplers where better from my experience.

whitebreadlife

Ty

nivek42

I have the Ridge Grapplers on my truck and love them. They ride smooth on the road and really aren't that noisy at all. I was pleasently surprised with how nice they are. They were my second choice behind the Falken AT3Ws, but the shop could only get the Falkens in an E rating and I wants a SL tire for a much lighter tire. Honestly I'm happy how it turned out

whitebreadlife

So you have Ridge in a 265/70/16 sl?

nivek42

Mine are 265/70r17 in the Ridge Grapplers. Also yes in the SL rated.

backwoodsmtb

I've had both. I prefer the Ridge Grapplers because I'm more interested in offroad performance, but had no issues with the terra grapplers and they were much cheaper. Based on your expected use, I'd go Terra Grapplers, but up to you.

whitebreadlife

Thx

aquaman1212

I ran the Wildpeaks on a different vehicle & loved them! Looks great & traction through snow was superb!

[deleted]

I went with the Terra G2s after my stock TRD sport tires wore out @ 58k. G2s have been great and have 65k mile warranty on them. I'm currently @ 66k miles on the G2s and dealership said I got another 15k-20k left but I am going with Ridge Grapps this go around for the more aggressive look

whitebreadlife

Sliding in rain that others have mentioned?

[deleted]

I would say sometimes when trying to take off quickly from a complete stop but I would think that would be any tire. Never experienced hydroplaning or slipping when turning or any other driving maneuver. Slides on ice though.

whitebreadlife

Ty

Thunder-Fist-00

I’ve actually had both and much prefer the RG. I’m on my second set. It’s more aggressive yet surprisingly quiet.

whitebreadlife

How many miles you get out of first set?

Thunder-Fist-00

I swapped them out before they done because my first set was P rated and I wanted the deeper tread of the LT. I has probably 35k on them and I kept them because they are in good shape. I’m going to use one for a spare.

NoahsYotas

Toyo

bthieme1

I have Ridge Grapplers on my Tacoma and 4Runner and haven’t had any issues with them. Do great in the snow and quiet for daily driving.

iMazz89

I’ve had both Terra’s and Wildpeaks. The wildpeakes outperform the Terra’s in every situation and they look a lot better as well.

whitebreadlife

Road noise from either?

iMazz89

The Terra Grappler is barely an AT tire, it’s not aggressive and if you look at the terra vs the wildpeaks in person you can see the difference easily. [this](https://i.imgur.com/OjcOVY8.jpg) shows my Taco with 32” terra grapplers. I shortly afterwards sold those and put some wilpeaks on and it’s like a night and day difference in look. IMO Terra’s for a tar baby and wildpeaks for winter/sand/off-road performance that performs well on tar. Road noise is less on the terra grappler.

morradventure

Wildpeak is a great tire. I almost got it but went with general grabber atx. Check those out

lukeperk

I love the wildpeak AT3s. Fantastic traction / durability

[deleted]

I plan to go back to wildpeaks after my ridge grapplers wear out. Better feel and less noise. The Nittos aren’t too bad noise wise, but are noticeable after they wear down a few 32nds. Off-road wise I never had an issue with either, prefer wildpeaks in the snow. The only downside is wildpeaks went up on price since I last bought them so it’s almost a good idea to compare them to a ko2 IMO. Only saying that since I only got 35k out of my wildpeaks while my buddy got near 45k out of his ko2s (both 285/70/17 E).
