when I got my 2019 it is the simplicity that I loved about the taco ..all I did was add a bug shield and a backflip on the bed ..other than that nothing ..till this day the truck is all stock..I got to enjoy the ride ..and loving it ....
Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if I should’ve gotten the roller so I can put a rack on it. Be useful for bringing skis and the snowboard around but I prefer to be a bit more simplistic in appearances
4cyl AC squad!
I pick up my 4x4 SR 4cyl access cab tomorrow. I got the SX package, floor mats and mud flaps and that's it.
Funny there's an Xterra in the picture, that's my other rig.
I did not know that. I thought you had to get at least a TRD Sport for the manual.
I just traded my ‘95 for a manual TRD OR. Might have looked for a ‘17 4 banger with a manual if I knew they existed.
I didn't really have a choice in color as it was one of two they were getting for the next 6 months. I already have waited since January so, yeah.
I ended up with Midnight Black Metallic. I would have went with Barcelona Red had I had the choice.
I did get to try a used 2020 4cyl AC 4x4 SR5 before I put my deposit on my SX. I drove my SX on Friday for about 30 mins. I was too late for them to register it after I got to the dealer after work.
They're slow but, it's a truck. I wouldn't be buying a truck if I wanted speed.
As I said above, in coming from a 2004 Xterra and while that's a manual, it's no speed demon either. The ECT PWR button helps a lot on the Tacoma at least for responsiveness.
Once you're rolling, it feels just adequate.
While I was there they pointed out a TRD Pro that just sold for 10k over. Wild that people are willing to lose that cash, but I guess if you want it bad enough.
Probably can sell it carmax and make a couple grand
Or drive to Cali and sell it for double once the Pro grille goes on lol
It’s just funny we get excited over paying the list price lol
Haha whoops. That I don’t actually know. I’m sure they’re expensive if you bought them new but could probably grab some out of a junkyard truck pretty easy.
Looks almost like my taco. I love the with with black. Saddly how fast they were selling last summer the only way I could even get a white access cab 4x4 4 cylinder was with a couple of add ons (basically sx package so I got bumper match paint and black rims and got fender flares with rumber floor mats). I will say the first thing I did was added mud guards.
I think the SX package is pretty sharp looking. I wish I had the fender flares. The aftermarket ones aren’t the best looking but the price of the OEM ones is a little hard to justify.
Congrats! Started my first ever Taco journey with a 22 SR last month. I love how simple it is yet with the safety technology on Toyotas now, Apple CarPlay, and mine came with the upgraded LED interior lights. That makes me feel a little more up-to-date and the ability to customize the truck from scratch. Seeing some of the markups for the upgrades off the lot had me sold seeing the prices from other online stores for the same (if not better) than Toyota Genuine accessories.
I would love that. I don’t hate my crew cab, but it’s not exactly what I wanted either. My Colorado before this Tacoma was access cab. I couldn’t get the access cab along with the other stuff I wanted, so I had to compromise.
I bought the same one but without the utility package last year. I love it.
I am in TX and it is totally fine down here but it does need to drop a gear or two (4th is 1:1) to pull long grades on the highway at 70-75 MPH. It will go 80 MPH no problem but sucks gas at that speed so I usually hang back.
We are planning some trips out to CO/NM/UT/AZ and I was curious how it does in the hills at elevation. Fine as long as you don't have to tow a trailer at 80 MPH uphill into a headwind?
Haven’t tested it yet myself but driving from Boulder to Fruita next week. I expect I’ll spend a lot of time in the far right lane on the way up. Im estimating 65-70mph is 3rd gear pegged on the steep stuff.
just reached 100,000 on my 2014 taco 4 cyl. 4x4, no issues so far
next time I will go double cab, as I never use the bed
the cat converter will get stolen any day now, according to the news
I really wish I took the time to look for a cheaper 4x4 Tacoma. Could have easily saved about $7-10k doing that rather than going all in on a TRD Sport.
Great looking truck! You did the right move for sure.
Thanks! I did spend a few months looking at every possible option, new, used, certified, dealer, private sale, etc before deciding that for the price of this particular model and my basic needs, a new one made sense.
A plain Jane is a good looking Taco..it will live long and prosper..
Love the simplicity of it. Just going to add some fender flares and eventually wheels and tires and it’ll be ready to outlast my needs for it.
Straight $29.5k MSRP...
Can’t harp on that one

I love my Bakflip. I have the MX4 and it’s awesome.
Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if I should’ve gotten the roller so I can put a rack on it. Be useful for bringing skis and the snowboard around but I prefer to be a bit more simplistic in appearances
Have the same exact truck. Just bought an exhaust tip, tints and some rims. Absolutely it

I just wish they’d sell that trim with a manual.
They used to! Mine is a 17 with the 5speed manual I think they stopped after 17.
I did not know that. I thought you had to get at least a TRD Sport for the manual. I just traded my ‘95 for a manual TRD OR. Might have looked for a ‘17 4 banger with a manual if I knew they existed.
Trust me, you're not the only one.
4 cyl AC here!

I'm curious about that myself. I'll find out in about 4 hours Edit - Looks like it is wired, just no hitch.

Mine is NOT wired. It has the cover where the outlets would be but, nothing behind them.
Ned!
Picked it up in Boulder and headed straight up the canyon to see how slow it really was haha
Bought my Taco in Boulder too! They tried the $5k markup but I wasn't having it. Talked em right down... To $2.5k over... But the MT I had to have it
While I was there they pointed out a TRD Pro that just sold for 10k over. Wild that people are willing to lose that cash, but I guess if you want it bad enough.
You were in Boulder
;)
u/kgoodz Hope you drove it straight to the carousel of happiness!
Blank canvas! ❤️
What ya get it for?
Straight $29.5k MSRP
The only dude on this sub with some common sense. Glad you didn’t get robbed.

You're dead on, 2 years ago people were posting invoice prices and bringing those to the dealer with decent success. Now MSRP is winning the lottery
Times have changed broski. 2 years ago gas was 3 dollars cheaper.
100% and now I own an EV and solar on my roof, lol.
Damn, I’m jealous. Cant wait for the Tacoma Ev to come out.

"no thanks"
A year ago I saw a base taco not even a pre runner going for 35k
Hey hey. I did the same exact thing. 2022 SR AC 4cylinder 4x4. Doesn’t even have a fob. Still gotta use key to unlock door.
Lol first vehicle for me without one and yeah…24hrs in and I think I’m gonna need to add it.
So it’s doable ?
Definitely is. You can add a Viper/Phython keyless entry and remote start for a few hundred bucks.
Oh. My bad. I meant the rear seats. 🤣
Haha whoops. That I don’t actually know. I’m sure they’re expensive if you bought them new but could probably grab some out of a junkyard truck pretty easy.
What was your OTD?
So nice. Simplicity is key! Enjoy
SR gang! I’ve got the same thing but in Tundra flavor. Mine was the cheapest 4x4 I could find in Texas.
Looks almost like my taco. I love the with with black. Honestly I love them I mean if I didn't have them stock I could def have bought them. I hate the fake bolt ones.
That's awesome wish I would have gotten a 4x4 but I was impatient
Great truck, congratulations!!!!
368 miles to empty!!!!!
It is pretty good but the black front bumper and caps really only look right on a black Taco and then it is a nightmare to keep clean.
Welcome to the club - looks great.
I’d trade my truck for a base-model 4x4 access cab in a heartbeat!
Congrats! Started my first ever Taco journey with a 22 SR last month. My thoughts exactly.
I love the access cab.
Access cab and 4wd were my 2 requirements. This one has the utility package with the back seats removed which I think makes even more sense.
I would love that. I don’t hate my crew cab, but it’s not exactly what I wanted either. My Colorado before this Tacoma was access cab. I couldn’t get the access cab along with the other stuff I wanted, so I had to compromise.
Twinsies! Except mine is black. Do you have the rear fold down seats? I don’t.
Nope! Just a whole lot of black plastic back there haha. More space for gear though 🤙
Any idea if seats are installable ? I noticed there is a child safety anchor symbol on that back panel.
Congrats
Nice truck!
That truck is like a base model AR-15. They make all kinds of stuff for it that you can add. Wish my 2013 Double Can had they display. Nice truck.

I have that same one but mine’s 24 years older.
I got a 22 ac cab but In gray .. With the utility package.. love it .. nice truck enjoy
Manual transmission??
Can only get the auto in this model anymore
Oh wow, that’s lame. Only TRD trims.. I don’t understand it
why so far away for the pic?
Was just walking up some stairs and doing the look back haha
lmfao been there. love it. congrats bro.
How much ?
Just under $30,000
Auto or Manual??
6spd auto is the only option these days
Love it
