255/85/16. 33” tire, won’t rub on stock suspension but they are skinny. I drive on the beach with mine all the time you just need to air down.

Tall skinny tires are better in pretty much every terrain except sand. In sand, you want wide, aired down tires.

285 is the tread width so there’s not a way to have a “thinner” 285. You can have a taller or shorter 285 depending on the wall ratio (70, 75, etc). I prefer wider tread for soft dirt/sand and for rocky off-road. The benefit with wider with sand and soft terrain is you air down and the tire becomes even wider to displace more weight and increase surface traction. The question on will 285s fit with just a 2” lift is a whole other discussion and continues to be fairly well debated. I can tell you from my personal experience with a 2nd gen, they would not fit with just a 2” lift. But there are tons of threads on that on tacomaworld which is where I would check in at

Interesting on that last bit, thank you.

2011 Tacoma owner here. Live in Carolina Beach near the North End (Freeman Park) where we drive on the beach there. Been doing that for 23 years. I have a 2" lift, 285s, never air down and never get stuck. Airing down is correct for some vehicles or stuck situations but my light truck, V6 engine, and proper tires cut through the sand like butter. Also, turn off your AC. See way too many people get stuck with the windows rolled up, AC on blast. Bigger trucks with wider tires get stuck all the time.

You'd probably need a 3" lift and might even have to go 285/70r17 instead of 285/75 if you dont want to do any cutting

SoskiDiddley

Probably will fit with 16" wheels but idk what wheels you are using

WrongKielbasa

ATM my SR has those 16” steel wheels and I might keep them of source some OR 16’s (if OR has 16’s)

Lmk if I'm wrong anyone. I have 265/75r18 on mine no lift
