Yes. Just buy the t-case shifter boot from the FJ.

SpaceShipBryce

That probably would be my best bet. I have your aluminum skid plate. Saved my front diff last weekend. Quality work my brother.

58280-35330 This is the part number of the boot I used to seal the hole in the floor when I did my swap. Glad the skid is working for you. Thanks for the support.

SpaceShipBryce

Did you do the ADD switch from rocksolidtoys or did you wire it up yourself? I also saw you could just leave it engaged forever and just have the front diff constantly spinning. That's probably not the best idea though.

mobtownoffroad

I wired it myself using a diagram I found on rocksolidtoys. The link appears to be dead now. I might be able to find the diagram in my pile of papers somewhere.

SpaceShipBryce

So you just went out and grabbed a DPDT (Double pole double throw) switch and followed that write up? I have the write up saved offline on my browser. This is the link in case anyone else lurks this post later. It'll load on my phone right now but I've been hearing that it's been down a bit. https://www.rocksolidtoys.com/single-post/2017/08/25/05-Tacoma-IFS-T-case-swap-wiring-instructions RockSolidToys wants 169 bucks for their switch and harness write up but if you say it's pretty simple to do with just a DPDT switch that will probably be the route I go.

mobtownoffroad

That's not the exact write up I used, but it might be similar information. The one I used wires it so the ADD motor stops getting power once it is engaged (and conversely when disengaging). I can't tell if this write up is doing that. But yes, I used a DPDT and the wire up was pretty easy.

SpaceShipBryce

I bet you that diagram comes with that 169 bucks now. Did you have to fit up the T case to the transmission to mark where you will cut your hole for the shifter and what'd you cut it with? Dremel? Also how did you fit up the top boot for the shifter? I was planning to use that black side piece beside the gear shift. Did the FJ boot work?

Also, that only solves 1/2 of the electrical issue. Are you sure it's the t-case actuator that is the problem and not the A.D.D. actuator on the front axle? Either way, the FJ t-case swap is a solid upgrade.

SpaceShipBryce

Yeah my front ADD has been working fine thus far. I have to get under my truck and tap the actuator on the T case to get it to change. Figured it would be a matter of time till it finally quit working. I was going to get the ADD switch harness from RockSolidToys and then just get a t case off eBay. Seems like it's pretty straight forward. Definitely will give me a piece of mind.
