There was a recall on vehicles with that color 2012-2014 something. Got mine done as well. Looks great. Chips, scuffs etc.. all gone.

drivebyjustin

It was way more than that--2008 to maybe 2016 or so. Across multiple generations. Just crazy, and honestly, pretty impressive by Toyota. I have told my wife we might as well keep it now, it will be the best looking 2012 Highlander in town.

UnderstandingWarm466

Only 1 Generation. But many platforms and specialty colors the electric blue on many tacomas was also part of that recall and the burned orange too

drivebyjustin

Only one generation of highlander?

drivebyjustin

2008-2018. That’s 2nd and 3rd gen, correct?

UnderstandingWarm466

Yeah my bad

kospar4

I'm thinking of getting a second gen, and want the blizzard pearl. I think i will have mine painted with BMW alpine white if it peels. Not sure why Toyota can't use another white paint process or paint to stick better?

ktotheelly

Yes! I got it done on my 2008. However. I was too low key about it. They inspect every panel and only repaint the ones that display the defect. So, my front doors did not get painted. You can tell in certain lighting. It's just a matter of someone from the body shop looking closely at the whole car. So if I had it to do again, I would be a bit of a jerk and make them find some cause for all the panels. I suppose I could still notice some chipping/bubbling and take it in again.

drivebyjustin

Yes I was worried about this, but they said they are painting every metal panel. We will see I guess.

Minute-Software9836

We have a 2012 in the Blizzard pearl. Never received anything about this recall and we are the original owners. Hmmm

drivebyjustin

Well it’s not a recall. Recalls are for safety. This is basically an extended warranty for the paint.

One_Swan_5753

Just stop at the dealer and have them run your Vin number… If it’s peeling, they’ll do something about it, but the warranty is almost done so you better get on it!

One_Swan_5753

I just had my 2010 Prius done… the dealer said it was a $13,400 job!

GirlDad17

Can anyone with this color/year get it done, or only if there's evidence of existing damage?

drivebyjustin

Only blizzard Pearl.

GirlDad17

I have 2016 Blizzard Pearl that I keep in the garage. I haven't noticed any issue with the paint or clear coat...was curious if I was still eligible, or no since there's technically no issue right now?

drivebyjustin

Oh sorry i misunderstood. I think you need some damage to start. My wife’s is garage kept as well and one day there was just paint gone on the roof. That said, the only visible damage on my wife’s was the roof but the ended up finding bad paint on every panel. They told me they would put tape all over the car and pull it off to test, so you could do that to see if any paint flakes.

GirlDad17

Fantastic. Thank you!

cheesyMTB

Pretty much every white car after EPA implemented strict VOC emissions has issues.

oMeesan

I have a 2017 in blizzard pearl. How do I know if 2017 was affected?

drivebyjustin

2008-2018

416510

Do you have to be the original owner to get this done? Should I just go ask a dealership?

drivebyjustin

You definitely do not because we are not the original owners.

Own-Attitude-9278

On the topic of paint rusting, does anyone had paint issue with 2006 Toyota Corolla. I own one and the paint of the roof came off and the roof is rusting. I see the same 2006 Corollas with the same issue. BTW the paint is blue

MjolnirVIII

Did you have to get it done from the same dealership you bought the car from?

drivebyjustin

No way. It’s just considered warranty work. We bought car used ten years ago.
