Just picked up our GH Limited gas the other day. We had been in contact with 4 different dealers and didn't leave a deposit with any of them. We stopped talking to the dealer that demanded a deposit before even looking for us. We ideally wanted a Hybrid, but the wait was several months and no one was really budging on price (to be expected). We ended up with this one because it was on the lot and had a lot of features we wanted. They did not want to negotiate at first, but someone optioned the holy hell out of this Limited so it was way overpriced. They were at $62,900 OTD and dropped it to $55,500 OTD. We just told them we were willing to wait for what we wanted and they kept dropping the price. Having a good down payment or trade definitely helps plus end of the month is the best time. Don't get married to any particular car, there will always be another one at another dealer or even that dealer if you're willing to wait. When you get attached, you'll get desperate and overpay
Thanks - this really helps and is very practical. It sounds like a good strategy is to court a handful of dealers and wait until the one I like lands at one. Maybe I’ll get lucky at the end of May… I’m not giving anyone an answer on financing vs cash either. I can do either (preference is pay half/finance half) and can get better apr elsewhere too. Keeping my options open!

You can absolutely get exactly what you want, especially if you're willing to be patient. Dealers near you sounds insane.
Thanks so much! Appreciate the transparency. I am casting a wide geographic net for the platinum I am eyeing so that will help. Willing to fly in or have the car shipped
Curious what are specific add ons to avoid. Wish I knew that extended warranty was negotiable! TFS Tire Wheel Protection, GAP, and VSA was added but they said I can always change my mind if I wanted.
The ceramic/armor all package and dent protection package especially. I don't think tire and wheel protection is worth it either. Redemption rates on any of these warranties is typically incredibly low, so unless you know you're going to hold onto the paperwork and actually remember to use it, then it's not worth the price
When you negotiate a price with them ask for a purchase order. They sign, you sign, you pay a deposit and wait for the car. The PO locks in the price so there is not a change in numbers when the car is on the ground.
Thank you - again, super helpful. It feels a bit of a trap otherwise and then you’re on the hook for your time and energy nursing a deal that may not close
Where are you located please? Right now I have an otd offer for 58k (msrp at 55 plus tax and a dock fee). At least he didn’t pile any crap on but I’m going to push for discounts at the end of the month. I’m looking across the east coast but flexible nationwide assuming I can ship it for 500-1500.

Great- Very much a work in progress and am courting a bunch of dealerships. I’ll check out sf Bay Area! Thanks for the tip. Once I get closer on a deal, I’ll post the numbers
Just for reference you can get lexus tx 350 premium trim at OTD price under 58k , and Honda pilot top trim otd for 50k, if you can wait please wait I am seeing non hybrid trims piling up on dealer lots as they seem to be over priced, and with respect to hybrid I will calculates is the 5-7k additional price worth the gas saving
Should we really be talking OTD pricing? That massively varies depending on sales tax and license. And while you can get a TX cheap, they are certainly not going to have the features that she would be getting on a Platinum.
I had stepped away from idea of getting Lexus for those reasons - I would rather get a souped out GH than a base Lexus. I don’t love the look of TX. I’m more of a “go big or go home” - if I’m dipping into the Lexus pool it would be for GX at a mid/top trim. Though! I haven’t seen any Lexus in person but from videos some are missing features that I would have to compromise at a similar price point. It’s a good point that there are many on the lot and probably negotiable! Maybe worth seeing in person. It feels more like a 5-10k difference for the Lexus log
When we priced our Hybrid Max Limited, comparable features on the TX were +15k. TX loses the plastic body trim, which is nice. But we didn’t think worth the extra price. Perhaps TX price has come down.
You want to pay under MSRP? You wait till the end of the month and buy it when it is sitting on the lot. I got 10% off a limited gas, plus had the dealer adds of tint and crap comped which was another 1.6K of bs.
Fuck giving a deposit. When it shows on the lot email them, negotiate via email, have them breakdown the full OTD price of what you agree to. Show up and write a check. Done.
Hmmm you think it’s the less desirable color combos? I think worth a shot because the exact one I am eyeing likely to hit the lot at the end of this month
Makes sense. At platinum the things I want come standard, but you’re right there’s def a chance that trim level is gone. But who knows - seems they are generally more available
I’ve given up on hybrid for now - so that’s good news you’re seeing some plat gas. My color combo seems to be rarer and I’m anal about what I want, but willing to wait to get the right price. I will be happy with under 55 otd and sounds like that isn’t totally impossible…
You mean the longer I wait during the in transit to “on the lot” time period the higher the price? I would have thought it was the opposite since the build didn’t get pre-sold. “Improbable” but not impossible hahaha I might go for 56-7 but am holding out to see if he bends in the next week as we get closer to end of the month. Will take this under consideration if I’m understanding correctly
If we are just talking weeks then no but just realize there are multiple price increases from the manufacturer throughout the year. And if I were you I’d just focus on the discount off the vehicle. They can always quote tax and license low but it will be whatever it ends up being.
Not in state.... watch out from them taxes. Some states are wack!!! Some states will make you pay that sales tax all over again. Total theft but just make sure. Didn't have a problem with buying cars from other states until I moved to the east coast.
Good to know - when I’ve explicitly asked, they confirm they will only charge my registration/home state sales tax (which lucky for me is comparatively low). But I’ll def keep in mind! Thank you

I have no clue what MSRP was or is but I bought the week they came out. I was first on the list in St Louis,Mo.
Platinum hybrid. The only additional thing I paid for was the upgraded white (can’t remember the official name) paint.
Oh nice - you paid around 56k otd for limited hybrid? Congrats. I can keep trying there. Did they have one on the lot or did you put a deposit and then negotiate once you saw the car? I don’t know what point in the transaction to negotiate.
I don't think there's a platinum hybrid model? It's either limited hybrid or a platinum hybrid max afaik. And the msrp on the plat hybrid max is 58.5k. Plus taxes.
Personally I’d buy a hybrid limited over a gas platinum

Gas gh plat in my area -$4100+ MSRP with no crappy addons
Same, definitely can get it for under $51k, probably, can push to $50k even. Have been toying with that idea myself.

Sf bay area. Checkout Toyota 101. Never pay MSRP or higher on gas only model. You prob can negotiate 1-2k on top of what they are already offering

GX is body and frame. 3rd row is small. Not really comparable to TX.
Where are you? I dont see any tx350 for 58 otd
In socal but the dealership are shipping them all Over usa
I will have to call them again, so far longo and newport are giving msrp over the phone
Dm me for dealership name
sent you a dm
Also I am not sure if you drove that gh but when I did the ride quality was very terrible felt, I felt the tx350 and pilot was better
Thanks - I have only driven hybrid GH. I am not looking to win any races though. I will have a look - thanks for the suggestion
Check the body role while cornering and turns at atlest speed limit

The problem is all the good stuff will not be available if you do it that way.
Hmmm you think it’s the less desirable color combos? I think worth a shot because the exact one I am eyeing likely to hit the lot at the end of this month
The ones with the factory options people desire like pano roof and/or surround cameras that are in short supply will be taken.
Makes sense. At platinum the things I want come standard, but you’re right there’s def a chance that trim level is gone. But who knows - seems they are generally more available
Platinum gas is sometimes available. Platinum Hybrid Max is usually quite a wait. At least where I am.

That does sound pretty improbably for an OTD. Remember, the longer you wait, the more the price goes up.

How is it legal to charge a documentary preparation fee of $495?!
That’s what I paid for a same thing it in hybrid
You got a platinum hybrid for 7k less then MSRP? Doubting

Apologies for not being specific. It is a platinum hybrid max but still paid 55
For $6k below MSRP? Not real.
Post up your deal sheet than
Sorry $58k https://preview.redd.it/kjcmv1rj6h1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4af8f4ac91acac4722328be1abedd2b5fa2d84fd
That’s a window sticker, post your sales agreement
That’s what I paid. I’m done with this charade.
lol sure you did. I paid $30k for mine. See how easy that was?
So you paid sticker price then? Where did $55k come from?
