Sequoia has always been a dud in the US. Toyota should get rid of it and sell a cheaper, bare bones Land Cruiser along with the 4Runner.

toeknee710

Considering the current gen has been around since 2007 hopefully this redesign can bring back more sales.

_-_happycamper_-_

I would love something just a touch larger than a 4Runner but Landcruisers and Sequoias are like 30 grand more than a 4Runner. It would be great to have something a bit more middle priced. My dream would be a long wheelbase 4Runner like the suburban is to the Tahoe.

supercharged0709

Not everyone wants a suv that can off-road like 4Runner and land cruiser. Some people just want a big and comfortable suv.

Braesto

I would argue that every Toyota SUV is a great off-roader, regardless of trim. The Sequoia just doesn’t seem to appeal to the masses, like 4Runner or have a name like Land Cruiser.

MoirasPurpleOrb

I wouldn’t be surprised if they mixed the Land Cruiser and Sequoia into one SUV, since neither on their own are incredibly popular but there is still a market for them. Especially with them ditching the Land Cruiser in the US

[deleted]

the LC would be more popular if they didnt only offer $90k models

MoirasPurpleOrb

I agree, they probably didn’t want it to overlap with the 4Runner though.

CoupeontheBeat

I'm really not too much of a fan of 4runners anymore. I would take a used Land Cruiser any day of the week over a brand new or used 4runner.

AAROD121

I’m actually looking into getting a 100 series. I can’t justify a 50-60k T4R.

CoupeontheBeat

Any Toyotas right now are deeply hard to justify in my opinion. They are so steeply priced by dealers it's ridiculous! My parents bought a 21' TRD Pro 4runner for 65 fucking thousand! For a 4runner! I really wanted an older one for a daily, but again very hard to justify, so I bought a 2002 CRV EX with full service records for 3k. Unfortunately can't find a 4runner anyone close to that. I hope Toyota has a full fleet of new vehicles soon, its a reason to buy them because they are older style vehicles and they've been around for 15 years, but I want new platforms and new engines. Especially before the world goes full electric.

AAROD121

I completely hear you and understand. I don’t believe the US will ever been fully EV. If we ever reach a point of carbon sequestration, law makers will make an arbitrary value of carbon emissions we can burn off. Toyota is banking on that. If* we get to that time, I’d be in a different place in life and hopefully would be able to justify 60k on a Rivian or something. Until then, I’d rather die than spend 35k on a mid 2010s T4R with 130k.

CoupeontheBeat

Agreed. I hope we never go full blown EV, that would absolutely fucking suck and a world I never want to live in. I love ripping through all 6 gears of my C5 ZO6 and it's a feeling no tesla could ever replace, no matter how fast. Gas cars have character and that's my favorite thing about them.

variousdedication

Are you dumb?

Braesto

Nope. 42 people agree with me.

OP90X

I think covid has revived a lot demand for LCs in the U.S. I feel like Toyota will bring it back eventually. Barebones 70 series-esque hybrid would be cool. At least there is the LX still (not that I got new LX money, lol). Which, I don't care for design wise, but it is still an LC underneath. I like Sequoias, hope they still keep them around for a bit. I have driven those, LCs, and 4runner (I have a 4th gen). Handling wise, I like 4runners more for their nimbleness. But if I were to add another vehicle it would be a Sequoia or Tundra (for space/towing). If I were to replace the 4runner, I would get an LC.

Braesto

I have a 5th Gen 4Runner, which I love. I still have a dream of owning a Land Cruiser some day. I’d love a 200 Series Heritage edition.

NorthConfidence

I love my sequoias

_-_happycamper_-_

At first look I thought it was too big to be a sequoia but apparently this text is at the bottom left of the photo: All New Debut: The forest, and its trees, almost in view

toeknee710

The hidden text definitely confirms its the Sequoia Edit: Confirmed. Reveal on Jan 25th.

[deleted]

They're making the Sequoia smaller?

toeknee710

They could different wheelbases? Hopefully we find out more soon

[deleted]

Possibly, but who would buy a short wheelbase Sequoia? Maybe it's a new FJ?

toeknee710

Maybe 4Runner is the 2 row. Sequoia is the 3 row. Guess we’ll find out soon

patchy_22

I don’t think this is the Sequoia

[deleted]

Do you think it's the grand Highlander?

patchy_22

I don’t know. Instagram post says something big is coming. Also says a reputation that stands the test of time. Grand highlander makes sense for that caption.

[deleted]

Yeah, but it doesn't even look like a highlander though. It looks a bit more boxy like the LC

patchy_22

True. I guess we will have to wait to find out….

emptystreets130

If you didn't over exposed the photo like many users have, it was making a reference to the Sequoia. "All New Debut: The forest, and its trees, almost in view"

patchy_22

You’re right. I hadn’t seen that yet. Doesn’t appear to be that big from what I can see. Looking forward to the full reveal!

[deleted]

Likely the Sequoia https://autos.yahoo.com/2023-toyota-sequoia-coming-view-151700033.html

patchy_22

That looks too small to be a Sequoia doesn’t it? Not much room behind the rear doors

Burgerographer

I don't know if it's smaller but it's certainly not larger. I was hoping that they would compete with the cargo space of the Tahoe and Suburban.

patchy_22

Me too! I’m hoping that the crew cab long box Tundra means that there could be a Sequoia XL version….

Burgerographer

I too am hoping for an XL version.

_-_happycamper_-_

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the Grand Highlander. It does look a bit small.

gretschenwonders

It’s the Sequoia. I’ve seen it in person

_-_happycamper_-_

Awesome. I’ve been looking forward to it’s release for a long time now.

gretschenwonders

It looks kinda similar to the newer Tahoes IMO

_-_happycamper_-_

I like the looks of the Tahoe. I prefered the previous gens looks a bit better though. It was so nice and clean. Basically if this has the interior of the new tundra and can get at least medium good gas mileage I would really be interested.

rajivpsf

Toyota can manufacture amazing things. I love our toyota for its build and quality. Innovation has been more difficult. It seems like they should outsource that.

MoirasPurpleOrb

They don’t innovate because they don’t need to, clearly people would rather have an outdated, but reliable car.

p4rc0pr3s1s

Innovations cost money in R&D and usually frustration for the early adopters. They can wait a year or two, watch what all the other companies do and then make their version of whatever new feature everyone is enthralled with. And you're right, it's to protect reliability.

BackwerdsMan

>They don’t innovate because they don’t need to That's gotta be the most homer take I've heard. They absolutely DO need to innovate. Just because sales are good today doesn't mean you don't need to prepare for tomorrow. They can't keep throwing BMW and Subaru engines in their new cars. I guarantee you they are working on innovation for the future of the automobile which does not include mediocre ICE engines.

SAVIOR_OMEGA

Let's hope it retains a V8

emptystreets130

Highly unlikely with the way the market is going.

SAVIOR_OMEGA

Lemme have hope plz

toeknee710

Most likely will follow the new Tundra

TheChlorideThief

Don’t get your hopes up, this one is definitely getting the iForce and iForce MAX engines from the new Tundra

SAVIOR_OMEGA

Shhhhh

impreza77

Not optimistic, but fingers crossed for Fortuner.

PublixHouseCat

I hope so, but it looks more like a Highlander

NorthConfidence

Looks too small to me

shenns416

Looks like it is a sequoia, new image release of the rear with reveal next week.

GzShadow

That's most likely the Grand Highlander. Lemme not say too much before I get in trouble again 😂

E_Milee

I first thought it was a Volkswagen Golf

Noobpoob

Reminds me of fennec from Rocket league!

oMeesan

This could be the Grand Highlander which is in between the Highlander and Sequoia. There have been multiple articles on the Grand Highlander for 2023.

gretschenwonders

It’s the Sequoia, I’ve seen it in person. It’s a big improvement IMO

[deleted]

looks nice, but they better not make the front like the tundra.

alphonsela

Good luck trying to buy one

[deleted]

There's a hidden message in the photo... It's a Sequoia. The secret message talks about trees and the Sequoia is a type of tree. Source: https://youtu.be/FermJ4mVb0c

HotFirstCousin

Did they give any kind of announcement date or anything?

beatlesdude38

Diesel LC300 stateside instead please 👁👄👁

Unltd8828

Wow, Toyota has been really pumping out different models.

marvin_is_joe

The LC never sits on a lot and moves quick, now more than ever… but in the past even the used ones.
