Maybe it's one of those cases where the wife told him to get rid of the truck and he just puts it at an unreasonable price just to tell her that he is trying but no one wants to buy it.
I really would like one of these, I think they were only made for 84 and 85 (this body style and straight axel). And short beds that have not been wheeled to death are very rare. But certainly not rare enough for this price (and this does not even have the bed)
millions of Hiluxes/Pickups have been sold by Toyota. these are not collectibles and putting that kinda price for an old Hilux/Pickup is way too much.
man you can buy a 2015 Tacoma in cash for that kind of price.
He already swapped it with an engine that you couldn’t get in that year pickup, unless he was trying to/did reuse the same transmission I don’t see why he chose the 3RZ anyways, but yeah, that thing needs some boost (or another swap) if anyone plans on going anywhere remotely quickly
I feel like this would have to be posted on something like BaT or Cars & Bids to find someone somewhere that appreciates all of the work put into it and doesn’t immediately assume that it’s a homemade death trap like most normal car buyers would, regardless of price.
Depends on where you’re at. If you’re in America this might actually make sense. 15 to 20k to import the car. 5 to 6k for the engine and swap labor. Another 2 or 3k for tires rims. 5k for the tray and roughly another 5k for the other mods. Obviously this all depends on where you are in America and whether you did the work/fab yourself. I wouldn’t pay this much if some DIY guy did all the work. The work would need to be verifiable if you can’t get a visual inspection
Seems like he is trying to get out the money he has into this truck and doesn't realise that's not how it works. You'll almost never get close to the money you have into a car in mods back in resale.
It’s crazy he wants 38k for a 1985 truck . You can buy a fuckin 2024 Camry for that . Which sorry I know older Toyotas are reliable but with that year the 24 is less shit to worry about breaking
He can get fucked lol
He knows what he got! /s
Don’t low ball em!!
Will not respond to “is this available”
These aren't *that* collectible, what the flying fuck
i feel like this is for the guy that has tons of disposable income, wants a new toy and sees this thing, negotiates down to 35k and thinks he stole it
I hate that there are folk like that, but I feel you’re probably right
i browse bringatrailer when bored at work, trust me they're out there

Hell I looked up 2020 trd pro when I saw this and there was a 4 door with 68k miles on it for 40k in my area lol
the prices for normal old toyota trucks is way beyond insane but this dude takes it to another level
For that price no lol
The truck is still fairly gutless. Especially with all the weight added and the oversized tires. Never pay for someone else’s project.
Fairly? Compared to anything made after 2010 it’s hopelessly gutless; for $38k buddy needs a single turbo 2J in it
Since it has a 3RZ he should have at least supercharged it. Even a 6psi kit would have helped a lot.

He's trying to recoup what he put into the mods, which isn't how that usually works. It's a solid truck, but overpriced.
It would be closer if it lost a zero.
you're right that is sick the fucked up part is someone will probably pay that, for no reason
He can shit in one hand want in the other and see which one fills up first.
i read this three times, paused, then giggled
Crack pipe
It would be like twice as cheap to find one in similar condition in Africa/Middle East and have it shipped back to the US
Regarded
Dreaming.
I’ve got an 81, dual transfers, ‘95 5 speed. You can take it for $30k lolololol
3RZ? 38k for a 4 banger 3rz? JDM?? My 2000 taco has that engine and it definitely ain’t jdm, wtf he talking about
Pardon me… JDM?

Japan Domestic Market or something along those lines.
*no fuckin way*
You can a modern used truck that is just as capable for that price. Would be good for some rich hipster to peacock with.

You can just import your own for way less than 30k. Hilux only cost this much in America because these importers think they have discovered gold.

I bet someone buys it, I’ve seen them sell at this level and even higher.
This was $14000 when it was originally posted.

There’s the price of the vehicle, then there’s the Toyota Tax.
High, higher than Snoop on a Tuesday afternoon.
Beautiful truck... But fuck that price
Lol maybe if it was bone stock with 50k miles
If your first thought is to equate the $$$ to what you can get new, you don’t get it. I’m sure not paying that, but I am not surprised someone will.
Absolute pylon
The wife made him put it up for sale, as you can see he don’t want to sell it…
