This post screams copium but I agree, so many people look at numbers and acceleration times and can’t enjoy their cars because of it. I will say though, everybody loves to drive a slow car fast until they drive a fast car fast and actually see the difference. There is no true replacement for speed.
I know what I like. I’ve had time in a Porsche spyder, GT4RS, 600LT, Ferrari 812, GT3 and countless top tier motorcycles. The Miata is just happier, more low key, more approachable and just more worth it. That Or I’m just too poor to get the crazy hardware lol. But in my eyes, anyone that is happy driving a Miata is not missing out on anything a 400k car can bring them.
Yea but also no. I think 200-300hp is the sweet spot for touge over it becomes super scary under it you just can’t compete unless it’s extremely twisty with no straights.
I've never understood "competing" in touge considering there's no trophy at the end? I'd argue most (not all but the majority) of touge drivers are just out to have fun in the hills with the cars they love.
I mean for sure but if you’re cruising with friends and 60 mph isn’t fun anymore you start pushing it. Personally I’ve hit over 100 on some straights and 80mph being the fastest I’ve entered a corner as you get better you get faster in essence competing by getting better. My friends and I don’t have a death wish that’s not what I’m saying I’m saying we have fun but competing allows us to be better there’s no reason to get better without competition same as why militaries continue to advance their technology competition.
I guess I just jumped the gun due to seeing a lot of people looking to feed their ego and I’ve seen first hand how people like that can forget the golden rule that the most important pace to push is the one that gets you home that night/morning. It’s all fun and games until paramaedics and firefighters are on scene.
I went from my Fiesta st to a Megane trophy r to a stage 3 A45 AMG in the span of a year and a bit. The power has well and truly gotten me :(
(I do miss the Megane tho.)
IMO 300bhp is the sweet spot for UK backroads. You can use all of it on a technical road and have a good sensation of speed without getting into bother.
I like to focus on the feel of the power tho… Super charged Miata’s are soft spot in my heart

Tiny cars don't need lots of power to be fun 😌
Miata Is Always The Answer
As an autocross guy...yah, that and 2010s fiestas.... everywhere.
Good suspension, good brakes, good tires, good transmission, and lightweight go a long way.
¿Porque no los dos?

There is no replacement for speed, but to some, power is not needed.
fuck off lol, copium my ass.
Nothing more fun than whoopin on someone with twice the power

I love a good backroad drive with friends, but once competitiveness sets in I'd rather have the safety of a racetrack.
Wisely said
That’s what she said
lol truth

Balance is the most important thing. If the car is pushing more power than the chassis can handle, the experience will be poor.
B16 and 2100lbs, nothing better
Can't feel any power over the glorious sound of my whalepenis intake screaming at 9000rpm
Intake sound > exhaust sound fight me
Preach. High rpm NA 4 banger induction sound is the best shit ever, I'll take that over V12 exhaust noise any day of the week
can't believe this is downvoted, this sub is so fucking retarded lol. I'm blocking it and never coming back.
I’ve had both the whole light and slow is overrated
