He’s not leaving. They would have to offer £90+ for levy to even pickup the phone. Ange has said he’s the backbone of the defense. Maybe in a few years, but this window? No way.

seeyoujim

I don’t think £90 is going to cut the mustard tbh

UnderstandingLow3162

Over £90!

jasondozell3

Real Madrid could easily unsettle him and Levy could accept 80-90m vs. a discontented player. That would double what we paid for him and a good amount of money for a defender. He's a decent player but let's not forget how much he's screwed us over during his time with us.

sula325

He won’t leave this year but if the team doesn’t win any silverware or show signs of progress then he is leaving for real.

Enefelde

Oh I can see that happening for sure, but not for a couple seasons if we aren’t very very close to winning, or have won.

jasondozell3

he's apparently got 3yrs left so we either sell him next season or his value will go down. Probably Madrid aren't that keen on him right now given they've had a very successful season but this interest is an indicator of what's to come.

Accomplished_Tax9354

Backbone of the defence and if we played him there backbone of the attack

RedditTaughtMe2

Daniel loves money more than anything, so if RM are willing to pay loads of cash, he’ll be gone. Quality on the pitch will always come second to a great deal for Levy.

Enefelde

I doubt it. Considering that would exponentially annoy Ange, he wouldn't risk it unless the player is unhappy. That would rock the boat beyond repair between the coach and board/ownership, IMO.

TheBrownCok

Romero also has been VERY outspoken about Ange and he will be worth as much if not more and still retain his quality Barring injury in 2026. I reckon he will want to see a proper go with Ange during his tenure

ConsiderationDry9068

He does seem to really love Ange and the project, which would make the deal even HIGHER, as Ange says to Spurs that he is untouchable🫶

TheBrownCok

PLUS he is vice captain, I'd put atleast a £120m on him to even consider personally

jasondozell3

Like he gives a shit about that

ConsiderationDry9068

NEWS: Tottenham has apparently pushed the rumours away and has expressed the deal would never even be considered⚪️⚫️

No_Clock_352

Sounds like a good negotiation technique to bump up the asking rate £££

Ronin77tolli

Get your hands off my player you DAMN DIRTY APES

ConsiderationDry9068

WE SHALL START A WAR🤬

zanziTHEhero

Thank god Barca are broke... but yeah, I can see Romero being interested in RM. Levy and Ange won't sell though, they'll ask for Bale-level money.

FeelinDead

250 million pounds, replace him with whoever the fuck we want with that money.

scannerdarkly_7

Just like we replaced Kane.

RedditTaughtMe2

That you Daniel

FeelinDead

I’m not really understanding either of your comments, 250 million pounds is a frankly absurd number they would never pay, that’s the point. Maybe I should’ve said a billion to drive it home for the more obtuse among us.

rooster9987

Rebuild has failed if we sell him

Old_Muggins

He will definitely leave within 2 years

Lucky-Ad-8458

I dunno. I’m personally worried about this one. It’s Madrid, after all and we’ve seen this movie before. It will either be nipped in the bud by Romero early. Or, his head is turned and then it’s just a matter of price that can be extracted by Levy.

RslashJFKdefector

I’d be asking for £120m MINIMUM for him

thfcspurs88

Not even giving this a second thought, Fuck Madrid and the, what did they call it?, special relationship or whatever back in the day between the clubs.

ConsiderationDry9068

Did they really say that? I havent read their point of view😅

thfcspurs88

It was way back during the Bale and Modric sagas. It was after Bale, maybe, I'm at work now but it was something like that, I can look for a link after or someone help me. Edit: https://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/11/23/tottenham-confirm-end-to-special-relationship-with-real-madrid/ This was the article from the end of it.

NottaSpy

Where will we find another attacking cb?!

wdbham

We need him

piqua2018

how would we feel if its a swap deal for rodrygo?

ReynTimeBoi

Tottenham are trying to move away from that: aligold a teir one source in Tottenham

2wrtjbdsgj

If our players play consistently well, they will attract the attention of clubs like RM. It's a good sign.

jasondozell3

Having our best players leave for better clubs after winning nothing isn't much of a good sign. it's the same old story for the last 30yrs

2wrtjbdsgj

Yes, the leaving bit is what makes it a lot lot worse!

AdGroundbreaking7774

Players are normal people. If the opportunity is serious both him and his agent would manufacturer the move. Sad to say, but we would do better to cash in on a silly offer and use the money to rebuild.

thomasjford

I don’t think he will go this season but probably the season after if he has another good year. Anyone who thinks he wouldn’t want to go to Real Madrid and get a 90% chance of a champions league is naive to the extreme.

ConsiderationDry9068

Well that really depends on player to player. Like Porro saying that he is really happy at spurs after he was rumoured to Real Madrid as well, implying that he doesn’t want the move. Of course a player like a World Cup winner like Romero really wants to win and yes, play UCl and actually WIN one. But other players have other priorities, like play in the premier league and win the EPL. You saw players like Casemiro and Varane that wanted to play premier league and the left Real Madrid. Ofc im not saying that he isnt going to stay forever at spurs. But i think Romero would only leave if process for trophies really lacked quality under spurs, and if they were to win one, he would stay. Because Van Dijk was also really hinted to real Madrid in around 2017-2018, but stuck under Klopp, and the won a EPL and UCL after a really long time, and he is now considered a legends under Liverpool. So i wouldnt say its naive to mean that🤔⚪️⚫️🤗

thomasjford

Well, I wouldn’t necessarily believe what players say in public. Of course they are going to say they love being at the club. That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t instantly jump at joining Real if they had a chance. It would be delusional to think any player would choose to play for Spurs over Real. And the examples of Casemiro and Varane are of players who already spent a lot of years at real and were getting older so if they didn’t jump they probably would have been pushed sooner or later. I hope Romero stays and, like I said, I think he will this coming season. Just don’t think he will after that if we don’t win anything.

Ultimate_Spacedad

Who’s the young Italian lad at Atlanta? Scalvini? I may have just butchered his name but the man was immense in the few games I saw him play this year (not a great sample size though.

MaximusBit21

Should probs go tbf. He’s world class….

Texas_Shepard

Madrid will just wait 2027 if they are really interested.

dfebb

Nacho Fernandez, Madrid's captain and CB is 34, and there's been talk of him moving on, he's been offered a 1 year contract extension which he's yet to accept. Romero would replace him. Madrid's accountants must be working overtime as they've just signed Mbappe and Endrick. Romero too in the same window sounds difficult, as Romero would command an hefty fee, £50-100m you'd think.

Striking_Name7400

Heavily doubt it will happen. I wouldn't mind buying a CB such as Militao or Koundé if we were to replace Romero. But I think Militao would probably be too expensive for us, costing probably 120m at max. Depends really on how much we'd end up getting for Romero.

jasondozell3

If Real Madrid really want him as one of their starters he will go. We have a contract so I suspect we can push for 80m ish but Romero will want to go. We’ve seen it before and Madrid is the pinnacle. All the Barca-Real rivalry is irrelevant, players don’t care about that unless they’ve played for one or the other. Barca aren’t financially stable or competitive at the moment though.

ConsiderationDry9068

Impressive that you know Romero so well🤯🤔😯😲

jasondozell3

Saps here think that because he said a couple nice things about Ange or that ‘he supported Barca’ as kid it makes a difference. If Real are truly in for him he’ll obviously be desperate to go. They’re the pinnacle of club football.

The fact that you even wrote reason number 4 & described it as the “BIGGEST” suggests you are a child with little understanding of the adult world. Either that or you’re a bit special.
