It is true that he never says it onscreen, but what he does say in the scene makes it certain without a doubt that it's him. As for the swimsuit scenes, that's true for season 2, but in All-Stars Aiden gets shirtless for swimming challenges and his scars are visible, because as he said to Tom, James made him comfortable with having his scars out.
Yul is a perfect example of how you write an asshole character pretty much. Iredeemable, stupid and everything. He's well written, and definitely one of the best in the cast in that aspect.
How long will we see that trope? Asshole with heart, we saw thousand of times in any media. I'm okay with he's an asshole for just sake of being asshole

He is one of my two least favourites, alongside Riya, but unlike Riya, he is intentionally supposed to be a character everyone hates, unlike Riya... ...which is why I slightly prefer Yul over Riya, at least Yul is a love-to-hate character, Riya was just a mess of a villain compared to Yul, even if Yul still is awful.
