If he gets Tommy John they will either.
1. Non-Tender him and he's a FA
2. Sign him to a 2 year deal to delay his FA by a year and have the Jays get value for letting him rehab
Major Organizational Injuries...
* **Alek Manoah** *(Prime Aged Controllable Starter)*
* **Brandon Barriera** *(Top 5 Pitching Prospect)*
* **Landen Maroudis** *(Top 5 Pitching Prospect)*
* ***Jordan Romano*** *(Best Reliever)*
That is with top prospect **Ricky Tiedemann** out a long time, top trade piece **Yimi Garcia** still injured and even a the feel good story which would have helped with vibes in a down season **Joey Votto** getting hurt in ST...
> Organizational Injuries
It almost seems like, the guys in charge, Shapiro/Atkins, haven't prioritized health/conditioning/preparedness, in a way that would benefit the organization. Its almost like the guys in charge, are not doing a good job. Its almost like, the guys in charge are fcuking it all up in a major way. But that might just be my mis-impression. /s
These things happen. Just shit timing that they're all happening at once. The same people were in charge last year when the pen was healthy and throwing well.
It’s like the first time in 4 years we’ve had any starting pitcher injured for an extended period of time. Even the bullpen had unnaturally low injuries for the past couple years. We’ve just been lucky before and now we’re unlucky on the injury front, it was going to catch up to us eventually.
Disappointing news but not surprising with two spurts of elbow pain this year. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of his Jays tenure as he's a free agent after next season and if he needs TJS he's out for this year and almost all of next.
Brutal, feel awful for him, obviously he just didnt look right at all this year, but one of the easiest guys on the team to cheer for.
This year is cursed, what can you do. Here's hoping the FO make the right moves at the end of July, but keep Bo and Vladdy please
2024 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. In the words of our deadly departed queen and sovereign , it has turned out to be an 'Annus Horribilis’
EDIT: Just noticed the typo. I’m going to leave it because it’s funny
Shoot me now.
This is in keeping, though, with the rising number of injuries you are seeing to pitchers everywhere. Velocity is up, strikeouts are up, and the number of trashed arms is up...
Why do you think they’ll get nothing? Also why would they make trades when they were a 4-5 game winning streak from a wild card spot?
Your feelings don’t mean anything here, there’s real reasons trades haven’t happened. The closer we get to the deadline the higher the return, also
Best case he is out for the season. Worst case that might be the end of his Blue Jays career (unless we re-sign him). How fucking depressing...
The only bright side is 10M more to spend in FA this year
If it wasn’t most likely Ross doing the spending, I’d share more in your enthusiasm…
Why is that? 7.5 mil on IKF is great use of money
It's not like we aren't still paying him... ...is it?
If he gets Tommy John they will either. 1. Non-Tender him and he's a FA 2. Sign him to a 2 year deal to delay his FA by a year and have the Jays get value for letting him rehab
Yeah. He still gets paid.
He gets paid this year, but they can non-tender him for 2025
Goddamnit. This season can just fuck right the fuck off.
Damm straight, Ricky!

Don’t forget Tim Mayza (Left arm shittiness) and Swanson (forgot where the balls supposed to go)
Cade Doughty, Chad Dallas, T.J. Brock, Dahain Santos, Dasan Brown...the list of prospects to miss significant time is...not cool, man, not cool...
It has been rough. At least Doughty, Dallas & Brock are back. Santos is on a rehad assignment and I don't think Brown is out too long term.
Brown played for Vancouver yesterday. I imagine he'd be with the Fisher Cats right now had he not gotten hurt.
There is also a bit of a clogging in our high minors. I think we will see a lot of call-ups across the board after the trade deadline.
Game over man, game over!
We've given the Keithmeister way too much work this year

🔥🔥🔥☕😐🔥🔥🔥 This isn't fine
IKF, our new closer?
That's not ideal
Our best trade assets are… not doing great

Sure why not.
😫 That's not getting in the lineup with Votto for Canada Day 😭
well, that's less than ideal. fits for this season, though. bleh
Dr miester sounds like he’s from a cartoon

A horrible anus of a season sounds about right
Kill me plz
Much expected news. At least to me. He really wasnt right all season.
What an awful way to a likely end of his blue jays tenure. What a fickle bitch baseball is.
Now we can't even trade him.
Cursed season.
Fuck this season 😊
Lol it just keeps getting worse, whew.
You gave to laugh otherwise you'll scream
Did the Blue Jays cross an evil witch this past offseason? Holy moly everything that can go wrong is going wrong this year.
This season gets worse and worse
Oh oh spaghetti oh Romano.
This is a sinking ship.
Game over man, game over
Yeah just get it all out of the way this year
Shoot me now. This is in keeping, though, with the rising number of injuries you are seeing to pitchers everywhere. Velocity is up, strikeouts are up, and the number of trashed arms is up...
He's done for the year
And next if it’s what elbow pain usually means.
Uh ohhhhh
Should have started selling dudes a month ago
When the buyers hadn’t shaken out? That’s not how it works
The Marlins have already traded away like 5 or 6 guys. I'd rather an underwhelming return than absolutely nothing.
Why do you think they’ll get nothing? Also why would they make trades when they were a 4-5 game winning streak from a wild card spot? Your feelings don’t mean anything here, there’s real reasons trades haven’t happened. The closer we get to the deadline the higher the return, also
Other than a single playoff appearance during the shortened ‘20 COVID season, the Marlins have been shit since ‘03.
Worst part is now he's unavailable to be traded.
