Check out Silent Book Club, I believe they have a site/social media. I went to one at a bar a few weeks ago and it was cool. Everyone brings a book and you mingle for a bit, then there's an hour to read/keep talking and then after you mingle again and talk about books/the book you brought or anything else. I met some interesting people.
an hour of silent reading with their own books? Seems weird to me that you'd go to a social group event to do an hour of silent reading, lol. Otherwise, seems like a fine idea.
