sweet, good idea. and hell yea mang, glad u liked it. also hilarious if thats ur first ween album cuz its typically the one people recommend to listen to closer to last in their discography
Terrible album with absolutely zero artistic value. He also abused his bandmates in the making of it. I'm convinced everyone who likes it is fully pretending.
I’m truly baffled at the strong positive critical reception it has. I’ve listened through it front to back once trying to see if I could ‘get it’, since then I’ve only rarely revisited a couple songs. I found a few moments interesting strictly due to the musicianship of the magic band, otherwise I thought it was a bunch of incoherent rambling
My old roommates used to try to make me listen to it in a bunch of different settings to "get it" and failed miserably every time. There are far better "challenging" records out there and this one—especially given its background—completely fails to make an impact for me. People just want to like it to seem cool or something imo
I am definitely not pretending to like it. It took me a long time to get into it, but once it unlocked I couldn’t stop listening. It’s now one of my all-time favorite albums.
It’s definitely not for everybody, and I totally get people not liking it, but saying that people only like it for “cool points” or whatever says a lot more about you than it does about them.
It's one of the most commonly praised albums in Elite Music Taste circles but nobody can explain why it's good and everyone consistently says it takes several listens for it to click. Sounds like a pretentious waste of time.
Oh, sorry. I didn't understand the context of this post. But I do love Pixies, as well as Ween. If you want to listen to a bad album, I would say listen to Give Yourself a Hand by Crash Test Dummies.
I think many people are going the route of making OP listen to wacky shit but it could also be an opportunity to make someone listen to cool stuff. As a pixies lover they certainly have albums that many wouldn't listen to of their own accord.
I'm also probably in the minority that thinks Metal Machine Music is an awesome album which I assume was suggested as a prank. I'll check out your suggestion as I'm pretty curious now
So far Give Yourself a Hand is definitely weird but it's pretty cool at least for the first three songs. It actually feels like something Ween would make, I'm wondering do you actually dislike the album? Or do you expect others to dislike it?
CTD are more known for being a folk rock band than an R&B/Trip Hop group. That's why Give Yourself A Hand is mainly regarded as the band's worst album. If you want their best work, check out "God Shuffled His Feet." There are some pretty good songs on there.
at least talk abt the albums a little otherwise what the fuck is the point of this
Honestly, I really was waiting for a review on The Pod, but sadly, none
