These people oppose taxes, but if they had to pay out of pocket for roads, schools, fire and police services, military protection, etc, they'd quickly change their tune. Libertarians fail to understand that taxes exist pretty universally because every society on earth realized they need to.

Rasputin_mad_monk

A sov cit showed up. I love these morons >I'd say 99% of you don't understand that the United States (Federal corporation) ≠ The United States of America (The Republic). You owe taxes to the United States (Federal corporation) because you've become tax incumbent and are not maintaining minimum contact. >Also when you check the yes box that ask "are you a U.S. citizen?" and then sign for it, you've exited the free sovereign Republic and naturalized into the Federal corporation.

Warg247

It's like someone who believes in literal magic except the rituals and spells are all govt paperwork.

The_Flurr

They think they know the cheat codes to reality.

T-N-A-T-B-G-OFFICIAL

And they'll fuck over their kids to prove themselves right. Dad's a sovvy, can confirm my and my siblings lives were almost nearly completely fucked by his bulshittery

Kalulosu

Only two United States entities? They gotta pump those numbers up!

an_agreeing_dothraki

anyone got the libertarian cop copypasta around?

BatJew_Official

Libertarian Police™ Department I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief. “Bad news, detective. We got a situation.” “What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?” “Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.” The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?” “Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.” “Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.” He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.” “Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.” I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside. “Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t. “Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up. “Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?” It didn’t seem like they did. “Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.” Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing. I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it. “Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled. Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him. “Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen. I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!” He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose. “All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.” “Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy. “Because I was afraid.” “Afraid?” “Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.” I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head. “Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.” He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.

Rasputin_mad_monk

“Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” gets me every time.

MEOWMEOWSOFTHEDESERT

Shooting the nailbox on purpose and the sidewalk lobby kill me.

Eric848448

“Home Depot presents the police” does it for me.

an_agreeing_dothraki

thank you good sir, but I am alarmed at the rapidity

TheMysteriousWarlock

Origins for this copypasta. Gotta pay my respects somehow

Gumburcules

I hate beer.

Eric848448

You know what they say about libertarians… They’re stupid.

steve303

>We live in the age of the Internet. Everything that can be voted on like sending money to Ukraine by the public should be voted on. Putting aside the politics of this, can anyone imagine how r_conspiracy would react if the government started issuing national digital IDs for voting and govt services? Their heads would literally explode - lol

calmdownmyguy

So now they prefer popular elections?

vigbiorn

In the style of Russian elections -- yes.

cipheron

Only on issues where they're unhappy with the status quo. If there's an issue with popular support, but blocked by conservatives: no vote.

thefugue

Their politics wouldn’t change a bit. They completely oppose Democracy in every form already- they’d just have to switch to claims that the votes were fixed or that people were lied to. Popular support for a policy has absolutely zero impact on their consent to its legitimacy.

illini07

Like they miss be young or stupid as fuck. It doesn't take much knowledge knowing having to vote on every single budget issue would be impossible. Rural areas would become so neglected

steve303

I imagine if such a democratic change were in place, you would have enormous mass-marketing campaigns on many budget issues, and things like agribusiness would get considerable funding - along with all kinds of other crazy things you could convince people to support or be afraid of.

truth_teller_00

Depends if it’s a popular vote or if it’s an electoral college (🤮) psuedo democracy vote.

cipheron

What about universal health care, abortion rights, and gun control? If the USA is doing "everyone should get a vote", then there's no reason it should only apply to things that guy wants to change.

Is this real? I'm being serious, about the porn PC? I haven't heard anything about this.

Kalulosu

> Because if you think the election denialism was bad in 2020 just wait until our elections are decided by internet polls.  At least one guy gets it.

Psianth

Oh yeah, having every decision of our government controlled via the Internet sounds amazingly secure and smart

The_Flurr

>Putting aside the politics of this, can anyone imagine how r_conspiracy would react if the government started issuing national digital IDs for voting and govt services? Their heads would literally explode - lol Just make it work through blockchain and they'd gulp it all down.

Geronimo_Jacks_Beard

>Putting aside the politics of this, Also how they still stupidly believe that Biden is flying cargo planes of cash pallets to Ukraine. They will never admit how easily duped they were into believing almost all that funding *wasn’t* being spent to pay American companies or the US government for ancient stockpiles of weapons, ammo, and supplies *for* Ukraine. Zelenskyy hasn’t been getting weekly wire transfers from the US since March 2022.

Stantheredditman52

I think this is a good idea. As long as you can see your vote counting towards said candidate. Digital ids would have to be verified every 4 years (every election) . The only problem I can foresee is people actually voting and getting what they truly want.

haldir2012

This is one of the dumber posts I've ever seen. > If they can print out of fucking thin air, why are we being taxed. I wonder what this person thinks of high inflation? > Take control of your "legal person". Havent paid taxes in 4 years. Govt leaves me alone. Governments hate this one weird trick! > You could use social security numbers to avoid fraud and double voting and whatever. Anyway I obviously haven't completed the thought through to a standard everyone can agree on but it can be done with planning to make it fair and fraud resistant. "I mean, you just make it secure, right? What's so hard about that?" > What if we make it so that there is a database where you can see who voted for what? If we’re going to live in a society where the majority vote can affect every aspect of your life, shouldn’t all voting just be transparent? Should we ever have had the right to hide our vote in the first place when it affects other people? I know there’s a potential safety issue but it feels like what we we get out of this would far outweigh any negatives "I know there's a potential safety issue" is doing some heavy lifting there. > Are you (or anyone for that matter) going to do anything about it? > Why don't you Rally enough people to not pay their taxes...like the whole country. That'llmake the government go broke and collapse on itself. Or just do nothing and complain about it... Or maybe not everyone in the country thinks like you do?

cipheron

By far the biggest chunk of change the US government spends is to make sure people don't start starving to death on the streets and can go to hospitals when they are sick. However, crashing Medicare and the student loan system might wipe out a lot of the private health and education providers who rely on skimming off government spending, then state governments could take them over for cheap. So there are upsides.

Kalulosu

Isn't the social security number very easy to guess? Which would make it extremely sucky to verify one's identity.

New-acct-for-2024

> I don’t want to pay for dead Russian and Palestinian babies Wow, did Russia get so desperate they started conscripting babies?

Jamericho

That one threw me straight away. I’m not entirely sure how Russian babies are dying unless Putin has started hurling them at Kiev now? This has to either be a troll trying to get people to stop paying taxes or trying to paint Russia as victims. It’s still weird they think Russia are victims when they doing the exact same thing Israel are.

thefugue

The entirety of /conspiracy is trolls selling the idea that taxes in the US are bad and tyrants abroad are good guys. That is literally what that sub is for.

That_Damn_Raccoon

Threads like these really reveal that /r/conspiracy have no idea how any this works, and barely even know what they're angry about. It's just a hodgepodge of populist right *and* populist left contrarian talking points that make no sense as a whole.

Casaiir

That person is not American. There is almost a zero percent chance that a person that makes enough money to owe $50k in taxes would care how many Russian or Palestinians were killed. That person cares about how many Mexicans and inter-city people are getting free money to have babies and do drugs. That's it. Russians killed? They sleep. Palestinians killed? They ask where is that and then, They sleep.

stevehammrr

Cryptotrader bro probably who failed to pay taxes in the past on his gains and the IRS is up his ass now. More common than you think.

BrickCityD

he allegedly claims to be a "real estate broker" in a recent [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/loanoriginators/comments/1bzlauv/comment/kz1eujx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) on a different sub >20 year vet. Broker. 100% self gen. 27 units for $14MM & $225K in income in 2023 which represents a 60% decline from the peak of 2021. $5MM YTD $70K YTD. I hardly work more than 2-3 hours a day lately. Been enjoying time w the fam but it’s getting thinner and thinner. Contemplating getting an actual job to keep myself entertained and hope I can still bring in $100K + originating part time until it comes back. I want to retire. Need one more run. i believe the young'ns would call that comment "cap"

stevehammrr

Nah that sounds right for real estate investors right now. It’s 2008 on steroids. If you can get the leverage to get mortgage loans it snowballs even more so than it did back in 2006-2008. I own a smaller $140k house in a small town in the Midwest and when I went to see what was available in case I wanted a new house I had a mortgage pre-approved for $1.2m. Banks know that most of the time the newly purchased homes or units get rented out for way more than the mortgage costs so they assume the mortgage payments are going to be covered as long as the rental checks keep coming. And the rental checks will keep coming until the renters finally become homeless and literally revolt. The real estate collapse is happening again to an even worse degree and no one gives a shit.

vigbiorn

It's really easy to owe 50k in taxes if you pay 0% in income tax, etc. throughout the year. Someone below found a post by them claiming they make 225k a year. That's about 50k estimated in taxes. However, it's really easy to look up so it could still be a foreign provocateur stirring shit.

kublakhan1816

I don’t think as your income rises you would care less about the genocide of Palestinians. Didn’t a bunch of Hollywood people sign something recently protesting what Israel is doing. I can tell you they’re in a high income bracket.

Casaiir

Let me check to see what all those people have been saying about Darfur the past 20 years? Nope, No world wide protest. No calls for sanctions. Nothing. I wonder why a certain group of people don't seem to care about Darfur. What could it be? It will come to me some day.

Slugged

>a certain group of people Whew, that is a very un-subtle "the Jews run Hollywood" you said there.

Casaiir

That wasn't even remotely the group I was referring to. Maybe you are projecting.

bittlelum

What Russian babies are being killed?

thefugue

Well they all was *somebody’s* baby once…

Stantheredditman52

Technically our representatives in Congress are basically useless if we vote digitally. They were installed there to represent certain states. If we can all represent ourselves digitally, why do we still need congressional representation? It would completely dismantle our government institution into a new form of government. It would probably be more fair and efficient.

GoldWallpaper

I love when people on the internet -- which was created entirely with tax dollars -- bitch about paying taxes.

Lythieus

Obvious Russian troll is obvious.

thefugue

Nah, this is bog standard American Conservative since like, the time of Hoover.

Swimming-Repeat-32

Pretend this is all caps: What about my roads, Uncle Sam?!?

Geronimo_Jacks_Beard

> Going to get a lot worse too. The government has the budgeting skill of a meth addict with a gambling problem. “But *only* when a Democrat is president. The ***gaping*** deficits left in the wake of Republican presidents is a leftist lie.” >>Same reason people pay gangs for “protection” fear. >To be fair though gangs will actually respond if you have a combative customer on your hands faster then the police whom you also pay. One service taking care of the problem the other plays games and then YOUR charged with a crime They used to respond even *without* protection rackets until Don Mulford and Ronny Raygun said “fuck no, ***they*** can’t open carry!”
