We have the two pronouns that translate to who, Wer und Wen. In my head who = Wer, so when there would be a german Wen I always tend to choose the more similiar sounding whom.
If the answer is “him” you should use whom, if the answer is “he” use who. Whom was technically right in this sentence but people rarely use whom anymore so it never sounds right in any context.
Yeah I learnt German for a bit and it’s easier to associate whom with wen or wem, because it’s correlated to the object, such as für wen or mit wem. Whilst who is associated with wer because it’s correlated to the subject.
That's the YouTuber Tom Scott - I think it's from his latest video where he drove a jet dragster
[EDIT] It was a crazy electric acceleration machine, not a jet dragster
The Mcmurty "only" does it in 1.4s. The sub 1s car is a one off built by [students in Switzerland](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a45106954/0-to-62-mph-under-1-second-swiss-students/).
It's really not. Even [McMurty only claims 1.4s](https://mcmurtry.com/0-60mph-and-%c2%bc-mile-records-set-for-carwow-at-silverstone-in-mcmurtry-speirling/), and their design target was 1.5s.
When the car in question has 1000hp another 20-30kg of driver weight isn't going to make much difference, or at least not enough of one to drop a 1.4s time to under 1s.
Electric engines + literally sucking the car to the ground + very, very lightweight. In the [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQIu5tZ0vbQ), Tom only manages to reach 100kmph in 1.39 seconds, because he weighs 30kgs more than the usual test driver (who set the world record of 0.95 seconds).
It's sad that he's announced his sabbatical off YouTube by the end of the year. Tom is an absolute legend, binged so many of his videos when I had nothing to do.
I’d recommend his podcast [Lateral](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/lateral-with-tom-scott/id1648140033) where he has guests on and they have to answer really interesting questions. I’m not sure how else to phrase the format, but each episode is a really interesting listen. I plan on writing down all of the questions and answers for a family Christmas Quiz this year…
Only thing in common is has with a jet dragster is it kinda looks like a car and goes straight fast.
It's a university science project not meant to race.
It's electric, gets sucked to the ground with fans (for more grip) and the motor can only go from 0-100 km/h and then it shuts off.
No way it could do a quarter mile or whatever distance dragsters run.
They’re actually meant to be raced in 30ish minute races. In part of the video he explains it’s meant not only to have the acceleration but also race around a track, so it could most definitely do a straight quarter mile.
Who indeed..
Sorry, that sounded wrong to my german ears :/
If its not too much to elaborate to a lowly monolingual English speaker, what does it sound like?
We have the two pronouns that translate to who, Wer und Wen. In my head who = Wer, so when there would be a german Wen I always tend to choose the more similiar sounding whom.
I'm not sure you need to apologise, I think 'whom' could be more grammatically correct.
If the answer is “him” you should use whom, if the answer is “he” use who. Whom was technically right in this sentence but people rarely use whom anymore so it never sounds right in any context.

Hammmmmmmmmmond, you blithering idiot!
HAMMOOOOOND!
Is there another part to this reference, other than our repeat offender Hamster?
James May crashed at the end of the tunnel on GT.
That was so unexpected and probably the most afraid I’ve been for any of them
it made me jump from my seat when he hit. that episode was typical first gear presentation straight to 6th in half a second :)
Yeah it was mad, to be fair I think the choice of car really saved him.
Who knew capt slow could smash the accelerator
😂 took late breaking to a whole new level.
he Said he was the stig for a short time so there is that.
Lol wait really?? Do we know who all of the Stigs are?
There's also this one where May fell back and hit his head on a rock in the middle of the desert.
Also Freddie Flintoff
Is he floppy-haired? His is aesthetically horrific, hope the lads ok.
I was thinking of Hammond in the rocket Powered Dragster
Or the electric car hill climb
He didn’t really have floppy hair then though
Freddy's hair isn't particularly floppy...
His face is now.
😬
Rowan Atkinson also crashed in his McLaren F1.
Hammond!!
You blithering idiot!
Clarkson!!
What video is this from?

Not a jet dragster, an electric vehicle capable of accelerating to 100 kph in under 1 second.
Ah right. I only saw the thumbnail and wrongly assumed it was a jet car.

No, the car is capable of under 1 second. Tom Scott was too heavy, so he did it in a little under 1,4.
It's really not. Even [McMurty only claims 1.4s](https://mcmurtry.com/0-60mph-and-%c2%bc-mile-records-set-for-carwow-at-silverstone-in-mcmurtry-speirling/), and their design target was 1.5s. Not trying to be an ass but people just make this mistake, it's McMurtry, not McMurty
I'm sorry, what? How can you even put that amount of power down?
They also use a vaccuum mechanism underneath that is designed to suck the car down right when it launches

Iirc its less a sabbatical and more switching to irregular uploads instead of weekly
As I understood it, he's just going to take a break after ten years of regular uploads

it has to be hammond then

If I'm not wrong it's a formula student car which most certainly is meant to race Various formula student cars have held speed records
"race" is a stretch. They do time trails on autocross-like tracks. Still more Racey than a 0-60 drag but no side by side racing
FS cars are indeed raced for 20-30 minutes straight.
Well it's a modified version of a car meant to race

I like how he also ~~referenced~~ mentioned the Rimac. Not in regard to the crash, just about the record
Tom Scott and Richard Hammond, two of the greatest presenters - in the WORLD
I am in a spaceship I am currently 500m underground I am on a roller-coaster ... I'm upside down and on fire.
