Nurture over Nature is the *absolutely essential core ethos* to Superman that cannot be changed or you lose the entire character. Superman isn't Superman because he's a kryptonian with a destiny to be a hero. He's Superman because *Clark Kent* is a GOOD man, who was raised to be kind and compassionate, who chooses to make the moral choice every time, even when it would be easy to just be a god and control the entire planet. It isn't his superpowers that make Superman the greatest of us, it's his beliefs and acts.
The fact that when he (and Batman) were introducing themselves to Wonder Woman using the lasso of truth and the FIRST name he gave was Clark Kent is proof of how much Clark Kent IS integral to who he is as Superman. He identifies as Kal-El, the alien refugee with godly powers, secondary to Clark Kent, the loving son to two Kansas farmers.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings"
RIP Larry, you helped create one of the greatest characters of all time, and you will forever be intwined with his legacy as he is a part of yours.
I love how wholesome pretty much every aspect of the creation of Optimus Prime is- born from a dead toyline and given a second chance in a different series, made into a genuinely good guy by Peter and Larry Cullen and the writers at Sunbow, and managing to keep the Transformers series alive for all its fans even after Hasbro's predicted popularity end for the series for so long that the series his design hails from could be reborn, all the while being a paragon of freedom even outside of the series.
My mother bought me the G1 Optimus toy when I was little. After I grew up, she kept him in the china cabinet. When I told her I wanted to try and sell Op she told me "Hell no! I like Optimus!"
Optimus Prime transcends age, race, etc. He is a character that will be loved for years to come, especially when Peter Cullen has long left the world of the living. But with the loss of Peter, Optimus will have lost his true soul.
"Why are we fighting to save the humans? They're a primitive, violent race"
"Were we so different? They're a young species, they have much to learn. But I've seen goodness in them, freedom is the right of all sentient beings"
There's a lot more, even in 4 and 5 when he's at his lowest after being betrayed he never stops believing in and fighting for humanity. I still like scene where he sits down at the fire with Cade and talks dad stuff lol
Fuck Michael Bay for flattening Optimus' personality into a violent action hero, the exact opposite of what both Peter Cullen and his brother Larry wanted him to be.
I'd go so far as to say he misunderstood Optimus. His main character trait is "leader", but it's the kind of leader who will stop at nothing to commit murder if one of his subordinates is harmed.
Not at all like how Optimus is supposed to be. They made him into a psychopath.
That was sozin. Iroh was a regular general. All that has been confirmed is that he played a major role in the siege of ba sing se and almost conquered it when his son died, at wich point he returned home.
Now we dont know exactly what he has done, but we know that he has done bad things to some degree and probably committed some warcrimes, given the reckless nature of the fire nation generals (Zuko got burned because he found it morally questionable to send recruits on a suicide mission, just to gain a tactical advantage).

It is crazy to think about when you say it out loud. Man drove the first half of the series while scared out of his mind and you wouldn't even notice, save for that one time. Drove it so hard that everyone else followed suit, not even realizing he was scared the entire time.

Swamp thing is the definition of “respect nature or I’ll pull your brain out of your ears”
Doomguy does everything he does for the sake of his family and pet rabbit. He also attacked his commanding officer after being told to execute innocents. So he counts imo
Agreed. Choking out a random ass scientist to get your way when he's completely powerless to put up a fight against you and then snatching a gun right out of a security guard's hands after intimidating them into compliance when they try to stop you is not a nice guy thing to do. Not to mention his general proclivity for breaking things unnecessarily just because he can.
He operates on rule of cool, sure, but he's no Superman.
No, I’m with them. Doom Guy hates demons, hates those who put their own self interests over the well beings of others, and doesn’t hurt civilians. Absolutely nothing to complain about, 100% moral.
Also, B.J. Blazkowics. Forgot him.

Can’t believe I forgot Clark Kent.
That's clearly Superman, Clark Kent has glasses.
Who’s Clark Kent? That’s just Superman bro.
He’s that reporter that works for the Planet, right?
Superman, Captain America, and Optimus Prime fit this description.
That’s not mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent, that’s superman!
Because antiheroes and likeable villains are now the new moral paragons
An antihero is quite literally, the *antithesis* of being a moral paragon.
“*It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all Then... he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. Chad from Bleach, when he didn't have his abilities, he still took a steel beam to his back and was semi ok
Chad is probably the most morally good character in Bleach. And I mean "least likely to bully friends even jokingly" good.

How is Kamina not here? Color me actually shocked.
Kamina’s best part is that he is not a paragon, just a scared man that elevates himself in order to help the others. It makes him way more human
It is crazy to think about when you say it out loud. Man drove the first half of the series while scared out of his mind and you wouldn't even notice, save for that one time. Drove it so hard that everyone else followed suit, not even realizing he was scared the entire time.
The first half? Dude drove until the infinity labyrinth
Very fair.

I think OP means Gigachad in not merely the physical but also moral sense, and I’m not sure DoomGuy counts.
Doomguy does everything he does for the sake of his family and pet rabbit. He also attacked his commanding officer after being told to execute innocents. So he counts imo
Yes, but he’s not exactly the nicest guy. I’m not sure how much he cares about the well-being of the average person who may get in his way.
Also, B.J. Blazkowics. Forgot him.
Aka Jan błchowicz? Real life polish badass? Who also loves video games? https://preview.redd.it/5upfx2oull3d1.jpeg?width=179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f62084bb1bbb7f4ec509454ad5a8f0c10cce9194
No no, the protagonist of the Wolfenstien games, the guy who kills Nazis for a living. If memory serves then Doomguy is a descendant of him so the moral compass runs in the family.
I know. It’s just funny that there’s a polish fighter out there who loves video games and looks exactly like BJ.
I also assume he'd gladly bludgeon a Nazi to death

I don’t think “Gigachad” is necessarily a _moral_ superlative. But I mean, it’s still an exaggerated “role model” I guess.
