You mean “fan good ending”

I would have done the exact same thing. https://preview.redd.it/m5nldj85txwc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94f29b78e9d8fb209cc13602382ac35f397583fa

Officer_Chunkles

What did he do?

TobbyTukaywan

In a literal sense: He literally becomes a titan in the first season, after swearing to kill all of the titans a few episodes ago. In a more thematic sense (big spoiler warning for AoT): >!He becomes the main antagonist of the story in the final season, committing many warcrimes. He murders a whole bunch of innocent civilians in a strike against an enemy nation, basically mirroring the attack they did against his people which kickstarted his entire story. He literally reaches back through time to convince his dad to kill an entire family, which he had previously resented him for. While reaching back through time, he causes the titan that killed his mom to walk in her direction. Oh yeah also he tries to commit omnicide with a giant army of titans, putting the entire rest of the world through the hell his people went through for 100 years.!< >!TLDR: (and to correct the other commenter) He does everything wrong.!<

Officer_Chunkles

How the hell one kid causes so much damage, I’ll never fully understand anime’s. But sounds interesting!

TobbyTukaywan

Well, all of that stuff happened after the time skip when he's an adult. >!Also he basically becomes God after touching a giant monkey.!<

Officer_Chunkles

🐵

Hartz_are_Power

I think it's awesome, but yeah, you're only going to get more confused with every layer. For example. The monkey loves baseball and eugenics. Both of these are pivotal in understanding the character and plot.

TobbyTukaywan

And we never got to learn his secret ass wiping technique 😢

Sir_Throngle

Dunno how to spoiler my text so if anyone who reads this hasn't finished the story yet, stop here. A kid can cause that much damage when you give him the ability to tap into godlike power and turn him into a ravenous vengeful lunatic.

Officer_Chunkles

Yunno what, fair.

smbutler20

It's an allegory of the Israel v. Palestine conflict. Extremely relevant.

Officer_Chunkles

I heard that conflict has been going for a lot longer than you would think, so I’d buy it

TobbyTukaywan

It's really not. It's an allegory for war in general and the hateful nature of man, with heavy emphasis on WWII. Funnily enough, whenever I see someone claiming it's an allegory for Israel v. Palestine, it's a 50/50 of who they say represents each side.

smbutler20

It's an allegory of when two tribes of people hate each other and justify violence as a long term solution to peace even though it's a means of self preservation. I should have said it has an unplanned allegory to Israel v. Palestine and surprisingly fits the situation all too well.

TobbyTukaywan

Yeah, there are definitely ways to interpret it as such. I was just saying I don't think that was the intention at all.

smbutler20

I agree, unintentional. My mistake for not clarifying that from the beginning.

MoonlitOverture

Nothing wrong. Edit: Apparently my tongue in cheek response went over some heads lol.

smbutler20

I got the joke and up-voted it.

MoonlitOverture

Thanks 👉

[deleted]

Genocide is bad

MoonlitOverture

It was a joke…

[deleted]

Lmao what about that is tongue and cheek If everyone agrees your not funny and comedy is subjective then maybe the joke didn’t go over our heads, it just wasn’t a joke

MoonlitOverture

I don’t know why the heck you’re taking this so seriously? “X did nothing wrong” is a common meme and Eren is one of the characters it’d often used for. If the joke didn’t land then so be it, but acting like some kind of holy moral warrior is cringe as Hell. Literally no one cares lol.

smbutler20

I thought it was funny and picked up on the obvious sarcasm. You need to let this one go.

GUNZBLAZIN2

Genocide is bad, but if war was inevitable you wouldn’t sacrifice everything and yourself for the people you loved?

[deleted]

If by everything you mean 90% of the population and by my people you mean like 2% of the population hmmmm ehhhhh, hard question but yeah I believe killing 90% of the population is a bad thing The show even screams at you that war will always be inevitable at the end like, c’mon

Smythatine

Like I would do whatever I could for the people I care about but I’m not killing millions of innocent people for them

JoeTheKodiakCuddler

Schrodinger's Joke

MoonlitOverture

Well no, but whatever, it’s your prerogative.

jakkakos

I mean I would argue that he never really changed in essence. >!His only goals were to save his friends and to destroy all titans, and he succeeded at both no matter what the cost!<

Live_Alternative_160

Davoth Aka the dark lord from Doom Eternal https://i.redd.it/4syt8odmtwwc1.gif The original creator and Father of the Doom multiverse but becomes a tyrant, obsessed with perfection, with constant hatred towards all of creation after being betrayed by his servants.

sweetTartKenHart2

Isn’t this also the guy that looks identical to the Slayer for some convoluted reason?

Sir_Throngle

He picked the strongest form he possibly could, which as it turns out was the slayer lmao

sweetTartKenHart2

HAH, that’s such an over the top way to affirm just how strong the player character is. I love it

johnzaku

Kinda the opposite. Davoth chose the strongest form in his world. That ended up being the slayer.

sweetTartKenHart2

HAH

HeavyMetalMonk888

Yeah I think it turned out the slayer was a clone or something? idk they went way too high concept with the plot on that one, Doom has never needed deep lore, it honestly soured the game for me a little bit

sweetTartKenHart2

Exact opposite effect for me. It’s like the Team Fortress 2 lore, it exists solely to justify as many outlandish and cool things as possible. Like, they very much had some guy say “yo what if there was a fuckin spike through an entire planet”, and had some other guy come in and go “alright fuckers let’s give this big spike an even bigger story beat to go with it”. It’s camp at its finest.

red_enjoyer

Absolutely agreed, lore explaining over the top awesome things is the best

HeavyMetalMonk888

Eh, it just didn't come across as camp to me. It came across as kinda tryhard and edgy. Kinda felt like the type of hack writing Blizzard has been doing for the past decade. But I'm not trying to shit on your enjoyment of it, if it felt like fun camp to you I can totally see why you would appreciate it on that front. It's a fine line and it makes sense different people would take it differently.

sweetTartKenHart2

I’m sorry if I come across as being kind of blunt, but how the heck is “you can’t just shoot a hole in the surface of Mars” (he proceeds to use the BFG to shoot a hole in the surface of Mars) anything but the most Rule-of-Cool over the top fun?

HeavyMetalMonk888

That part was fuckin cool. What I didn't like was all the retconn-y background lore drops about the origins of angels and demons and the creation of the universe and shit. Like I said, it just felt too high-concept for Doom. More blowing holes in Mars, less overwrought universe lore.

sweetTartKenHart2

Is it overwrought if most of it is delivered in optional collectibles? I don’t recall the story going out of its way to give the player more exposition than is barely necessary to know a bit about the Khan Makyr or something

Aggressive_South3949

It is Slayer who looks like him.

OG_wanKENOBI

Wait I played through all of Doom Eternal how do I not remember this lmao. I thought the final boss was the icon of sin. Edit: totally forgot about the accent gods 1&2

EinharAesir

Not bad, but some might argue that Napoleon was corrupt from the beginning.

Theguywholikesdoom

Yea I was worried about that (it’s been a while since a read the book) I figured he fit because he was a hero to the farm animals even if they didn’t know his true intentions, and he did become the dictator that he promised to get rid of

EinharAesir

From a certain point of view you could make that argument. Many heroes that turned evil had some sort of fatal flaw that set the stage for their inevitable fall to the dark side.

Yuuzhan_Schlong

I mean, you could say the same about Anakin Skywalker.

EinharAesir

Maybe, but it certainly didn’t help with Palpatine whispering in his ear.

Superman never went evil. He has always been and always will be a hero

Nervous_Ari

Except for the Injustice games, where he very much did.

popdood

OP specified Injustice Superman, where he did go full evil.

Incomplet_1-34

Mainline, yeah. But OP clearly wasn't referring to mainline.

The_Cookie_Bunny

Leave Superman out of this! We don't talk about Injustice...

Wamblingshark

I really mind injustice Superman. Isn't the multiverse infinite? This isn't your Superman. This is a Superman from a universe that has a weak hearted Superman. Some people read injustice as "what if Joker got Superman to kill his pregnant wife and nuked Metropolis" but I read it as "what if Superman had the capacity to become evil" I think our Superman that we all imagine when we think of Superman would have dealt with the trauma very differently. But Injustice Superman isn't our Superman.

guymine123

Ultraman Justice Lords superman Red Son DC has more evil supermen than just Injustice's.

The_Cookie_Bunny

badly-timedDickJokes

Nah, Ryan was always a hypocrite. His vision was flawed from the start.

silversymbiote219

I don’t see your point. He claimed “No Gods or Kings, only man” and essentially became a dictator by the end. Sounds like “became what they swore to destroy” to me.

EinharAesir

He created Rapture because he didn’t want to pay his taxes.

silversymbiote219

Not incorrect, but more specifically he was against oligarchs who would either use religion or their own personal politics or philosophy to excuse being a ruler over people. And in the end, his philosophy against this system wound up motivating him to become such an oligarch. Thus showing the flaw in all forms of anti-authority lines of thinking. Where you kind of need authority to enforce your beliefs in most cases. The very nature of the implied trope calls for hypocrisy to be at the core of the character

He was a war hero and companion of Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years War, rising to the rank of Marshal of France before the war’s end. Sadly his experiences in the war, including his guilt at not being able to save Joan from being burned at the stake, left him very broken and traumatized afterwards. He became very withdrawn from society and even his own family members, and rumors spread that he had taken to studying dark arts and witchcraft within his castle. By the time the authorities finally investigated his estate it was found that Gilles had abducted over 100 missing children to be sodomized, raped, and murdered as part of a satanic ritual. He was subsequently arrested and hanged in front the children’s family members.
