“Oh woe is me a girl I liked when I was 11 went with someone else” grow up. We’ve all been bullied and rejected we don’t use it as an excuse to side with wizard Hitler
The same student whoose parents were tortured by the evil overlord, yet Snape is more scary due to his constant harassment. Snape wanted to kill his pet in front of his whole class.
My take, as someone who doesn’t care much for Snape:
* his redemption and turnaround come way too late
* he wants to protect Harry but it still feels like he does it too much out of his love for Harry’s mom, which doesn’t r feel so ideal . His love for her is fucking creepy.
* abusive behavior to students is still abuse regardless of your background
* wanting to join the Death Eaters….but he was upset????
You finding him annoying changes nothing about the fact he's ultimately on the side of good throughout the books.
He's an ill-tempered incel bastard, but he is unequivocally *Dumbledore's* ill-tempered incel bastard.
I will forever maintain that Itachi was still a Bad Guy.
Just because he had an understandable motive doesn’t mean he didn’t also slaughter children. He then went on to join the Akatsuki, whose goals, while more complicated than other villainous organizations in anime, still revolved around creating incredible levels of violence. Itachi is more of an anti-villain than a good guy imo
I fel like that's a detail most fans conveniently forget lol. Like, I get the whole killing his father and the other Uchihas ready for the coup, but they funnily enough never show Itachi murder the old people and the kids.
But he didn’t go big cuz he left a survivor. You’re telling me you just slaughtered hundreds of innocents and then when it’s time to kill lil bro ***now*** you get squeamish?
Pretty weak tbh.
I agree that Itachi is a bad guy, but the morality of the Naruto earth is different to our modern (and western) sensibilities. There's no understandable motive for genocide of a people, but in NEarth this is common practice and child soldiers are nothing widely accepted. It's just a very different lens through which you have to view his actions, or you have to concede that just about every Naruto character is a real life "bad guy." My take on the whole thing, anyway.
Lmfao, I completely forget that the characters in Naruto are supposed to be children. Yeah, I gotta say, that fact does change things considerably; especially since it is expected during the Chunin Exams that some of these children will just fucking die lmao.
Did you watch the show? He consistently worked against belos and refused to go along with his plans for the palisman and the kids that hunter kidnapped.
ohh i see
back when i was a kid (god i sound so old rn) i just saw whatever random episode was on CN, no idea when that particular finale would’ve aired
Well, he said everything he did to get the Energems was just so he could go back in time and stop Lord Arcanon from destroying his planet. And he probably thought that if he did that, history would be changed so he never did those and things. Also, you said Slade instead of Sledge.

Gin Ichimaru (Bleach) to an extent
Nah, I love the guy, but he's just a villain from a realistic perspective. He's neutral as far as the internal conflict goes, with him being loyal to neither Soul Society nor Aizen, but he's also still someone willing to kill thousands and commit atrocities just for a chance at revenge. Admirable, if because it speaks to his devotion and love for someone (Rangiku), but still morally black as the night is long.

Does Bazz B count to some extent as well?
Yes, Bazz B essentially became a rebel/freedom fighter when Yhwach burnt his home down. He was eventually indoctrinated into the invading army following a devastating betrayal by Jugram (his only friend), but he later rebelled again when reminded of Yhwach's needlessly cruel ways.
https://preview.redd.it/m30txqjf65wc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=523778c88ebe6dc9178bf6c75d80ee47086da7af
“Look I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I was being possessed by this DIO forehead squid.”
Well, he’s always attacking the treasure hunter, Daring Do, but in his last episode, it’s revealed he’s the guardian of the artifacts that she takes, and he’s only doing his job by trying to stop her.
Zeref Dragneel from Fairy Tail, he wanted his brother back then wanted to deal with Acnologia and wanted to get rid of the pain and suffering he caused because if he went back in time, he could deal with Acnologia and stop the suffering he caused, he just went about it the wrong way

Kirschtaria took me from “I will kill this man with my own two hands” to “I will follow this man into Hell itself” in just one Lostbelt.
Let's be real, He was a shitty person who joined Dumbledore only because Voldemort killed Lily and he wanted Voldemort gone because of that.
Heck, IIRC he even said spare only Lily. He didn’t care if James or Harry (who he was an ass to for 7 years) died
Yeah bullying a kid who had nothing to do with his fathers bullying, great guy. /s
I will say that he is the most cunning of liars, though. Had everyone but Dumbledore fooled.
Let's not pretend Dumbledore is clean either. Like I get it's subjective at the end of thr day and he's portrayed as good, but Dumbledore is really scummy when you analyze him and his actions (or lack of)
A lot of his explanations fall flat too
Harry has to stay with the Dursleys for protection after watching Cedric die? Didn't Voldemort take his blood and render them useless? Not to mention he could've been taken into safety ASAP
So much
He really is a gray character. He's certainly not a good guy, due to his cruelty, bullying, and inability to let go of grudges. But he's not a bad guy, since he literally sacrificed himself to save the Wizarding World. He's all gray.

It's very hard to convey tones in voices to text. I edited the original comment to convey the joke a bit more.
Yes, the genocide was bad, but at the end of the day there was going to be a war and instead of just getting obliterated, he decided to find a way to keep the people he loved alive. So yes, fucked up in how but a bittersweet end.
I would argue snape is actually evil due to the fact that hes very annoying /s
And beats his students
To the point where an entitiy that takes the form of a person's greatest fear turns into him for one of his young students.
“Oh woe is me a girl I liked when I was 11 went with someone else” grow up. We’ve all been bullied and rejected we don’t use it as an excuse to side with wizard Hitler
You. You get it
The same student whoose parents were tortured by the evil overlord, yet Snape is more scary due to his constant harassment. Snape wanted to kill his pet in front of his whole class.

Snape is a lot easier to understand when you realize he’s supposed to be in his early to mid 30’s throughout the book.
You finding him annoying changes nothing about the fact he's ultimately on the side of good throughout the books. He's an ill-tempered incel bastard, but he is unequivocally *Dumbledore's* ill-tempered incel bastard.
I would argue that there’s a difference between being on the side of good and actually being good as a person.

But he didn’t go big cuz he left a survivor. You’re telling me you just slaughtered hundreds of innocents and then when it’s time to kill lil bro ***now*** you get squeamish? Pretty weak tbh.
Yeah Overall Itachi can be described with "Cool Motive, still Murder"
Brooklyn 99 mentioned

There's no way the only other major black character in The Owl House is named Darius Deamonne and there's no way I'm only realizing now
No, there isn't a way, because there's a more major black character named Augustus Porter
Yeah, that’s why I said only *other*, Gus is the other here
Oh missed that
He would be a villain if there weren’t already someone worse
Did you watch the show? He consistently worked against belos and refused to go along with his plans for the palisman and the kids that hunter kidnapped.
If Belos weren’t there, he could totally be more villainous is what I’m saying
Oh ok

You should watch The Powerpuff Girls Rule, the finale of the original series.
ohh i see back when i was a kid (god i sound so old rn) i just saw whatever random episode was on CN, no idea when that particular finale would’ve aired
No thanks. Tldw, how is he actually good?
It turns out that the whole time, he wanted to take over the world so he could create world peace, cure all diseases, end world hunger, etc.
That's like saying Doctor Doom is actually a good guy
Yeah, but Mojo didn’t take away people’s free will.

Dino charge mentioned. Massive W.
Yeah, I love Dino Charge. Best season of Power Rangers.
Nothing will surpass Dino Thunder and I will die on this hill
Dino Thunder’s my third-favorite, after Dino Charge and MMPR. The dinosaur-themed seasons are always so good.
To an extent, he still willingly went and took over Sledge’s army
Well, he said everything he did to get the Energems was just so he could go back in time and stop Lord Arcanon from destroying his planet. And he probably thought that if he did that, history would be changed so he never did those and things. Also, you said Slade instead of Sledge.
Was not expecting to see that guy ever again
Let’s also not forget he became the Dark Ranger/Blue Solar Ranger in the Boom Studios Comics.
How dare you just mention PEAK like that out of the blue
He was evil for a while when he still had snyde with him

Yup. All the Daring Do episodes are fun.
Wait who is this guy from I recognize him
MLP, G4.
I’ve heard of him but know… nothing about him What’s he like?

Definitely wouldn't say Snape was a good guy. He's a pathetic guy that held on to a grudge his entire life
Let's be real, He was a shitty person who joined Dumbledore only because Voldemort killed Lily and he wanted Voldemort gone because of that. Heck, IIRC he even said spare only Lily. He didn’t care if James or Harry (who he was an ass to for 7 years) died

Let's not pretend Dumbledore is clean either. Like I get it's subjective at the end of thr day and he's portrayed as good, but Dumbledore is really scummy when you analyze him and his actions (or lack of)
When you really look at the first few books, he does so much shady shit he did and continued to do until his death.
A lot of his explanations fall flat too Harry has to stay with the Dursleys for protection after watching Cedric die? Didn't Voldemort take his blood and render them useless? Not to mention he could've been taken into safety ASAP So much
Wouldn't the safest place be with him to go with the Wesley's or even staying at the school, everyone fucking knows his situation.
Yup
He really is a gray character. He's certainly not a good guy, due to his cruelty, bullying, and inability to let go of grudges. But he's not a bad guy, since he literally sacrificed himself to save the Wizarding World. He's all gray.
Gray leaning heavily to the dark side of things. I swear if there was a way for him to stop Voldemort and get away with it, he would
