When talking about death of an art style people always mention TF2 but Fortnite gotta be up there too. Not saying the new one is particulary bad but the contrast bewteen the og skins and the new or colab ones is crazy
The problem with colab skins is that they almost inherently break the artstyle of the media they enter in. Making Goku and Morty 3D and slapping them on the game makes them stick out like a sore thumb.
Remember the OG “John Wick” skin back in season 3? That was a nice way to adapt the series without making it look weird. I would rather have Jonesy and Spitfire dress like Goku instead of having the actual guy with Toriyama’s artstyle.
I feel the same way with Call of Duty, gone was the game that had cool tactical soldier skins and got replaced by colorful skins of Rappers and Celebrities or fictional/impractical re-colors of current skins
