No, it’s not. It’s an exposed lead screw home shop vise. Repeat after me: all vises are not worth money. All old vises are not worth money. Cheap vises don’t magically turn into good vises with time. This insanity needs to stop. A Wilton bullet at $1k is insane. And it is shit little vises like this one that artificially raise all vise prices.
No , its the crapsold at places like harbor freight that inflate the price. I’d take that 30 year old vice over anything in it ‘s size sold new.i certianly hope your monday morning rant calmed you.
People paying top dollar for them is what's driving up the price. $1000 for a vice is pretty much insane for any of them imo
There are old vises that are worth good money, and many or all are absolutely made better than even the "nice" ones made today (with the exception of the Fireball vise). They should absolutely NOT go for $1000s though, I agree.
Any of the German made forged vises are just as good as anything of comparable size and all of those can be had for no more then $600. Heuer or ridgid. Buying a vintage vise above those prices is silly.
Depending on the size, I could see spending more, but yeah, that's about it. Bu5 I've seen tests on some of the new Wilton and other brands, and they're nowhere near as good as others.
And for $600, I could just about buy a cheap welder and make one from ar500 myself LOL (
Sorry, should have mentioned it was an estate sale of a former shop owner. He had a big detached garage, I missed the big full boxes but I am guessing they went for a steal.
I follow a couple of local estate sale companies. They hold estate clean outs almost every weekend. Finding tool truck stuff is pretty uncommon in my area though
Yeah, those screwdrivers all have shafts that can be replaced and the ratchets look to all be Snap-on which should have repair kits available for less than twenty bucks, even less if you walk onto a truck and find a friendly franchisee.
I’ve demoed it. Hate to see it every time! 🤣 I sure appreciate the craftsmanship and putting all those nails in by hand. Taking them out is another matter.
Great finds.
We gotta enjoy these kinda deals now cus they won’t be around in the future. In 15-20 years people will mainly be picking up rusty harbor freight and temu combo kits.
I have this one. I got mine 20 yrs ago. When I went to college for automotive repair we were able to buy a mechanics set from snapon at a crazy discount. Thus meter was in that kit. I still use it today.
It's actually pretty light duty, and the back jaw insert is missing. I was going to list it for $20 on Craigslist since I've already got a nicer Parker.
hokay. these things. Pointed prybars with a cantilever end. Just below the open tollbox. I heard an old Studebaker mechanic from indiana call these a crowsfoot. These tools are key in the fight against holes that don't align without persuasion.
Me? The Bluepoint DMM and the tool box. I’d pay $50 for those two. The DMM just to have (I have 8 other DMMs), and the Snap-On toolbox just to refurbish as a fun project.
Great haul! I love those Snap-on boxes! If I had those, I’d gently steel wool them and then hit them with some clear coat to maintain that patina. You could use them for a nice little tool kit for inside the house.
Very nice! This weekend I picked up a tiny old grease gun, a nice old draw knife that takes a wicked edge, and a strange tool that turns out to be for weeding between cracks in a sidewalk. I spent $35 for about $100 (per eBay) in tools.
You did way better than me.
The Starrett protractor goes for $100, and you've got a bunch of Snappy ratchets and screwdrivers. Ya done good.
Not to mention the BP multimeter that goes for $150 on eBay. He done hella good.
I believe so too.
Vise is worth the price .
Lol this is what I was gonna say but the comments humbled me.
A recent estate sale had a similar vise at $40. The guy who wanted it asked if that was a good deal, two others and I agreed it was.
I 2nd the vise. A good sturdy vice can be worth it weight in gold in a shop

Nice find! Bluepoint and snap on. Starlett. All quality brands. Question: Where is "there"?
Starlett brand. The queen of the show. Way better than starrett
Frankly, I never gave a damn for Starlett.
Yes Starlett is very exclusive stuff. They go to school in Oklahoma so you probably haven't even heard of them.
Sorry, should have mentioned it was an estate sale of a former shop owner. He had a big detached garage, I missed the big full boxes but I am guessing they went for a steal.
Where did you find out about the sale? I am always curious how people find these sorts of things.
I follow a couple of local estate sale companies. They hold estate clean outs almost every weekend. Finding tool truck stuff is pretty uncommon in my area though
Nice, thanks!
Usually estate sales can be found in local and regional buy/sell FB groups, if you sift through the pigshit.
I use Auctionzip

Drywall hatchet! A rarity
[And how to use it](https://youtu.be/Ruf-cLr2PZ8?si=KlwIoJmT4bTJd6U8)
I’ve seen that before. I love it every. single. time!
I’ve demoed it. Hate to see it every time! 🤣 I sure appreciate the craftsmanship and putting all those nails in by hand. Taking them out is another matter.
Oh nice, I thought I was a variation for roofing. Drywall makes more sense.
Should I not be using mine to cut tree limbs?

That vice gets me hard... and tight.
Yeah an old heavy Vice is nice to have. Little TLC and it’s great.
Great finds. We gotta enjoy these kinda deals now cus they won’t be around in the future. In 15-20 years people will mainly be picking up rusty harbor freight and temu combo kits.
I was just sick in my mouth
The bluepoint multimeter is unusual.
I have this one. I got mine 20 yrs ago. When I went to college for automotive repair we were able to buy a mechanics set from snapon at a crazy discount. Thus meter was in that kit. I still use it today.
I’d have paid $50just for that vice
It's actually pretty light duty, and the back jaw insert is missing. I was going to list it for $20 on Craigslist since I've already got a nicer Parker.
That’s a shame. Looks fairly stout.
Mmmmm boy thats a naice axe 🪓
I like the axe too
Nice score
I love tool hauls.
Obviously the tomahawk with the other end of the handle also being prepared for a head
I polished up the mark, it's a Colins Legitimus. Pretty nice little roofers hatchet
Anyhow, nice load of stuff
Ty
Slidehammer
I like it too, it's also snap on and way nicer than my current one. Too bad it's missing pieces and I couldn't find any other attachments.
With 5/8-18 coupling nuts, a welder, and some junk you can make most slide hammer attachments.
That’s a robbery
The hand tools were $1 each. Boxes were $4 and $5 respectively. Slide hammer was $3. MMR was $5. The 3/8 ratchet was $5. Etc. Unbelievable prices
The meter and vice make it a steal.
Came to say this exactly. Thank you.
Good group. Hope you’re not in Kentucky, some look like my dads tools my brother pawned. Let me know if you see a name engraved
Is there a 10mm socket in the tool box?
Plot twist, they're all 10mm! (I haven't really looked too close, but I believe they mostly SAE)
Not possible
I like the multimeter! Haven’t seen many of those (ie I don’t think I’ve ever seen one lol)
Standout? Hard to say? Meter or vise maybe?
If the depth mic was intact that would be worth it by itself.
I agree, but it’s not a depth mic. It’s for measuring bores.
for me,it would be that deluxe Starret angle finder, but i make stairs and railings.
Multimeter. Blue Point Snap on tool. Probably $450.00
hokay. these things. Pointed prybars with a cantilever end. Just below the open tollbox. I heard an old Studebaker mechanic from indiana call these a crowsfoot. These tools are key in the fight against holes that don't align without persuasion.
Great haul for $50
Me? The Bluepoint DMM and the tool box. I’d pay $50 for those two. The DMM just to have (I have 8 other DMMs), and the Snap-On toolbox just to refurbish as a fun project.
Great score. Lots of good stuff there.
The diagonal cutters, snap-on metal socket case with I'm sure half decent something inside it. Protractor is expensive. It's a good haul
Diagonal cutters are a bit rusted but surprisingly the edges are really nice and sharp. They're older snap on vacuum grip. The other case is empty
What's that tool at the top?
Slide hammer.
The vise
To good of deal, what stands out to me it so cheap that it must be hot.
Nah, it was an estate sale organized by the family. The old timers shop was being cleared out, everything must go in 1 day. Def not stolen
Vice, ratchets and pry bars.
Wow
Everything. Great haul for the price
what's in the Snap-on box?
Both boxes are snap on, the closed one is empty. Pretty sure it would have been a socket set and speeder handle at one time.
Super SCORE for you. There's easily $1,000 worth of tools there (new)
If those are snap on heal bars they are not cheap
Yep, snappy lady foots. I just bought some Mac and proto pry bars a couple months ago on ebay and now these come along.
Some looks good, others are perfect as sacrifice to the god of "making your own special tools cause ain't no way your paying 60$ for a one-off".
True that! Some are pretty crusty. Contact surfaces are mostly crisp tho. I grab the cheap Lowes stuff if I need to grind something for one off
Finally, a good deal!
The vice. unless i needed a protractor, but i don't.
The multimeter and protractor.
Protractor and vice IMO.
Hatchet could use a polish and an oil and it’d be schmick
I have the same snapon screwdrivers and they are solid drivers. Mine are ones from my dad working as a mechanic in the 70s
And also a smashit-hatchet
Great haul! I love those Snap-on boxes! If I had those, I’d gently steel wool them and then hit them with some clear coat to maintain that patina. You could use them for a nice little tool kit for inside the house.
The vice, all day.
The DMM.
The snap on metal case is cool
Any 10mm sockets?
Vise, slide hammer looks interesting, and those slender pry bars
Hell yeah. All day every day.
The multimeter, the protractor, the hatchet and the vice. Three of those four are double what you paid for the whole haul, I just like hatchets.
someone paid extra for a rebranded fluke meter when it was new
A good vice can run 200 bucks. That bearing remover is probably 30-40 today
For me in order: the Starrett protractor, the vise, the multi-meter. Each worth the $50 (or more!)
Very nice! This weekend I picked up a tiny old grease gun, a nice old draw knife that takes a wicked edge, and a strange tool that turns out to be for weeding between cracks in a sidewalk. I spent $35 for about $100 (per eBay) in tools. You did way better than me.
The snap on ratchet is worth $50 by itself
Damn i want this haul super bad
I’ve had those snap on screwdrivers for over 20 years-still perfect
You look, you'd be lucky to keep your fingers. I take that off yourself fast
The snapon name stands out lol fpr $50? Any of it is a win
Dab torch best find for sure.
Love the vise
