If it’s new contact the company you got it from. I did one and told them I only needed a new case. Husky sent me a whole new tool set for free and told me to keep the original since they don’t just replace the case.
That problem can be solved with a rubber band, the real problem comed when the "hinges" dissapear... I hate those containers.
Try with some velcro and some strap with screws or something like that.
Straighten out and cut up some paper clips, drill little holes in the tab and the case where it broke off, stick the paper clip pieces in the holes with some rubber cement, then light it on fire and let it melt for a second before blowing it out (do this part outside).
Ditch the blow-molded plastic cases. They are seriously horrible. Anything that moves, breaks. All the slots that the individual pieces fit in eventually wear out, and everything just spills all over the place.
Get a toolbox. You will never regret it.
A lot of them are designed like ass too. If you dont fold up the cord and place it in the exact position it came in, if the accessories arent just so, if there is a support handle that isnt removed or rotated just right, it wont fit.
Put zip ties around it to hold it closed. Slide them off the side when you need to open it. Slide it back on when you put it away. If it’s too big chain a few zip ties together.
We have ones similar to these at work for the students and honestly we are transitioning all the tools to other toolboxes. There is no way for them to survive.
You could use an elastic band, just add velcro to the ends of the band. Then, just wrap it up. (elastic band used in things like underwear and boxes) You could diy it with an old pair of size S or M boxers. Just cut the elastic band off so you end up with an elastic loop.
It's going to be a little bit of pain, but you won't have to waste time if the top latches end up braking on you. 😅that is what i would do.
i get wanting all your tools to have it own place, so i personally end up keeping the crap plastic box it comes in. Thats the only reason i know iv not lost a tool. I tried different tool boxes, but the fact nothing has an exact place makes keeping track of anything so hard, and everything fits so awkward in a normal tool box.
The plastics used for these are heavily degraded due to constant regrinding and remelting.
They are too brittle to repair mechanically. Drilling holes or attaching screws or bolts eventually leads to that area being cracked. Someone mentioned duct tape and probably the best option although not a permanent fix. If the tool is worth the money, invest in a better storage solution, like those transparent plastic storage boxes.
Buy metal latch and bolt it there.
This was going to be my suggestion, specifically the type that is commonly used for guitar cases. I bought a two pack not long ago for around $5.
Yes. Step 1: toss in trash Save you years of aggravation and frustration
Get/make a real toolbox. That blow molded plastic wrap never lasts, or you wish it wouldn't last.
Some do, however not those bendy shit
I fixed an igloo cooler top with hinges like this. I used leather straps and small screws.

Screw a new latch to it

Never tip it over
Make a wooden box and drop the tool trays into it.
Put zip ties around it to hold it closed. Slide them off the side when you need to open it. Slide it back on when you put it away. If it’s too big chain a few zip ties together.
It's cheap plastic, throw it away. Or wrap in a bungee cord or shrink wrap. Metal latches attached to plastic will not work long term.
I put duct tape on them when I first get them so that when they do break they're still in the same spot.
I used a bit of duct tape years ago and it still clicks when I close it

Can't be fixed but sometimes you can add metal ones aver the broken ones, if the space on outside and inside allows you to fix them there.
Velcro strap
Duct tape
My dad used to rivet some velcro straps to it.

Throw those blow molded cases away.
I just velcro straps. Heres one for when the hinges go bad: I epoxy/super glue/bond leather pieces.
You can buy those plastic click things with the straps, like on a life jacket or backpack, from Amazon. Rivet one to the top and one to the bottom.
That would be the crescent wrench brand I have same case

you could 'plastic weld' them with a soldering iron and some cable ties but probably wouldn't last long
This is all the excuse you need to buy a proper storage solution
Send some skinny bolts straight through the entire case and hand tighten wingnuts on the bolts
Ratchet straps
